In the News: BMI Trailblazer Honorees Named

BMI has announced the names of the gospel greats it will honor at its 10th Annual Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards Luncheon on Friday, January 16, 2009 in Nashville, TN (during the Stellar Awards weekend): Twinkie Clark, Donald Lawrence and CeCe Winans.

The event is an invitation-only luncheon and awards ceremony at which various recording artists perform musical tributes to the honorees.  And it’s kinda THE place to be during the weekend.  I had merely heard of how phenomenal the luncheons are… then, this year, they finally began taping and airing the luncheon for laypeople on the Gospel Music Channel (and it was AMAZING).  They haven’t announced who is doing the tributes yet, but with these honorees, I’m CERTAIN that the music is gonna be jaw-dropping.

I know at least one faithful GospelPundit visitor (*fashioning the straightest finger I can possibly point and throwing it in Byron’s direction*) is going to be thrilled with the honorees.

What does everyone else think???

(pre-response): Gospel Pundit Authority, can you fix it to where there are more posts on one page (going down-like) so I won't feel so negligent, behind-schedule, out-dated and insouciant when I do my catch up?? THERE'S NO WAY THIS SHOULD BE ON PAGE 2 AFTER 1 DAY! Now... Yes. Yes. I am thrilled. So much so that I may try to get on the guest list. I would just want to hear Twinkie sing my very favorite favorite song in the world "Now is the Time." I have fiercely loved EVERY ONE of this year's Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards Luncheon Honorees. Twinkie, Donald and CeCe -- everyone of these artists have taken me into serious worship, prayer and monumental joy. O the joy! I wish I had time to really unpack the thought... in an era where gospel music has been dumbed-down and stripped and simplified so... these artists EACH have taken us back to the Cross and Consecration (Twinkie's specialty - you know I love it, right?), worship and strength (Donald), and good, CLEAN, holy living (CeCe -- the epitome of purity). More than simply nodding at these trailblazers for their past accomplishments, perhaps we should truly remember the purpose for their being honored and sit at their feet a spell and hear the message behind the music, the love for God, the love for Gospel, the respect... Yes. Yes. Amen.

B: Your request is granted. Now 10 posts per page. But, for the record, you WERE negligent, behind schedule, outdated and insouciant. And thank you for your brilliant words, as always.
