ChitChat: 106 & Gospel Taping

Over the weekend, I went to one of several tapings of 106 & Gospel (the new name of our favorite new show, 106 & Park Presents: Generation Gospel).  Actually, they’ve been calling it 106 & Gospel for a minute now, but it’s all official now, with a new logo and everything.  But BET has heard our cries and made some changes.

They probably have a few shows left from their last production run, so we’ll be seeing the “older” stuff for a few more weeks, but stay tuned cuz I think BET’s heading in the right direction.

First, and most important to me: THAT YOUTH CHOIR IS OUT.  LOL

Deep down inside, I kinda believe that someone saw me blasting it and decided it had to be over.  If you watched the show yesterday, you saw that Juda Camp is the new house choir.  Remember them?  They were the choir in the choir battle that sang to a track and did a lot of dancing.  Well, they won and they’re singing sho’ nuff now… and they’ve got a new song that brings us in and out of commercials. :???: It’s better, though, for real.  WORLDS better.

Jor’el and Angel are still doing their thing.  I’ve always thought, and still believe, that he was more comfortable in this role than she is, but she’s warmed up a lot.

All in all, I think BET is really trying to listen to everyone’s feedback and make the show better.  I think you’ll be pleased with the result.  Upcoming performances include Canton Jones, Crystal Aikin, Damita Haddon, James Fortune & FIYA, Tye Tribbett and more.  Make sure you stay tuned!

Boy oh boy was I happy to have tuned in and not hear "generation gospuuuuuulllll!" I enjoyed the young girl Spensha Baker (i think). She was okay. I agree Jorel definitely has the personality for this, Angel is slowly slowly adjusting. I'm looking forward to upcoming shows.

@Chloe: LOL... Maybe she's just not as much of a natural as Jor'el. @Highly Favored: You're hilarious. Wasn't it a RELIEF?! LoL Who else watched?!?

Yup, Generation Gospel is getting a little better... I think Angel needs to let it go. Jorel just has to much more personality... love him!!! I still think the house choir idea is wack.... :( (sorry I have to keep it real), and also..... Let us please pray that gospel artists step there video production game WAY up. I am so sick of these low budget videos!!! On the flip side, I do LOVE Tye's Tidbits. He's great at keeping us informed!!! So all together, we're making progress.... we just have to work a little harder. Love, Jenise La Vonne

i saw the show yesterday, and i thought there was great improvements, the choir going out music was way better, and so were the hosts i could see angel was not comfy in front of the camera at first but she seem's to be getting used to it, it helps that she's really pretty, i like her hair. jorel seems really comfortable from the beginning but you could tell he was reading before and that wasn't as apparent this time. i say give them and the show a chance to improve. it's better than any other gospel show i've seem, which all tend to look low budget. congrats BET!!

i agree with you that gospel artists should step their video production up. ***EDITED BY EJ FOR POTTYMOUTHEDNESS*** go spend some money supporting the gospel community, concerts cd's etc and then see that the level and standard of the industry is upped ***EDITED BY EJ FOR DISRESPECTFULNESS*** best gospel show i've seen so far, BET is doing a good job! ***EDITED BY EJ FOR DISRESPECTFULNESS*** EDITOR'S NOTE: Thanks for commenting, Jeanine. Please be sure to refer to the house rules for guidance on posting comments!

I don't know... I'm starting to think that they balance each other out a bit these days. Maybe I'm just becoming more accustomed to seeing their particular personalities together. Still thinking...
