I’ma need y’all to make sure you’re not sleeping on Youthful Praise, but I don’t think I disagree with the poll. I’m a Hezekiah Walker & LFC fan ’til I die, so that tells you where I voted, but I think it was a tough call either way.

I agree with the poll, although after awhile all of John P. Kee's songs start to sound the same.
Hmmm, yeah, John P. Kee's cousin must visit this website, lol. John P. Kee and New Life dont even fit in this category. They don't really make choir music, it's more so John P. Kee as a solo artist being backed by New Life Choir. They don't have any songs that are just choir with no lead. James Hall loses points cause his latest project was not on par with what he's done in the past. Youthful Praise is the bomb, but they dont have as many years in the game as Ricky or Hezekiah. Hezekiah and Ricky are by far the best. They've been in the game for years, and they have CONSISTENTLY brought it on every project. Their style and sound has not really changed over the years, yet they still are on top of the choir scene.
I swear I only voted once.. but um.. if they don't make choir music, what do they make? Out of the trillion VIP, New Life CDs out.. u mean to tell me... lol come on now.. Love all five: NLCC & LFC being my top 2...
Don't believe you Lou, I think you're the culprit, lol. John P. Kee is known for giving out money doing his performances, and I think you were one of the recipients:-) Seriously, you mentioned VIP. VIP is more choir than his New Life music, but that's not what John P.Kee is popular for. His most popular songs are not the stuff he does with VIP, its the music that features him with New Life. John P Kee is one of my all time favorites, he's a living legend, so I definitely aint hating. Before Donnie, Kirk Franklin, there was John P Kee, and the brotha can still blow! Just dont think he belongs in this category. All of the other choirs in the category have made songs that feature just the choir, with no lead singer. Of course now a days the directors exhort and ad lib a lot more than in the past, but they are for the most part still choir songs. If all the songs feature pretty much one person on lead, that's more of a solo artist backed by a choir. You don't see John P Kee directing in the conventional sense because he's leading the songs. Souled Out, Faithful is Our God, More Abundantly,Holy Place, Gain the World, God is in Control, Deliver.....those are all songs that can be done with just the choir. I cant imagine a John P. Kee song without the lead singer, just wouldnt sound right. While the other directors are for the most part doing ad-libs and exhorting, John P. Kee actually has verses that he sings. It's cool Lou......if he blessed me with some money I'd vote for him too! (LOL)

LOL @ both luda and lou. I hear what both of you are saying. Luda, I've never NOT considered John P. Kee & New Life to be "choir music," but I do see the distinction you're making between his hits and the hits of other choirs. He's not really the typical "choirmaster" like Ricky Dillard or somethin'. In Lou's defense, I've pulled the IP addresses... he's safe. LOL ;-)
Ok, well look at this way: If Hezekiah couldnt travel with LFC to a concert, although it would be very disappointing, LFC could still do some songs without Hezekiah. Same for Ricky Dillard & the other choirs. If John P Kee can't make the concert and it just the New Life Choir, it's a wrap, I want my money back!!

I completely forgot to vote because I was twixed between hez and James hall. No disrespect to any of the others but the harmony In James hall cannot be touched. Hey was Richard smallwood included cause that's a choir.

Although I love some Hez and LFC, their music just doesnt sound the same w/o Melvin Crispell and that goes for James Hall as well. As for John P Kee and New Life, I think they are in a category all by themselves to be honest; which is a good thing. Ricky D and New G have always brought church to me and that's what I love about them. I have ALL of their projects; so I guess that means my IP address showed up quite a bit, oooops! lol
