On TV: Bobby Jones Gospel

Who saw it?

First, I gotta say that I wasn’t feeling the fly collar shirts on the men in the Nashville Super Choir. And I normally don’t knock the choir, cuz… whatever. But I saw more churchy bare chestedness than I EVER wanna see!  My eyes!!!

Maurette Brown-Clark looked incredible and she BROUGHT it!  She’s not the type of female vocalist that every gospel consumer fawns over– she’s not riffin’ and squallin’, and sometimes y’all be shady if folks don’t give you that. ;-) (me too)

BUT her sincerity and, in my opinion, an incomparable ability to exhort and encourage in her AD LIBS… I’ll take her ANY day over some of the more acrobatic vocalists.  She’s a worshipper and a praiser and that tends to trump riffs for me.

And did you catch, her daughter, Jada Simone Clark singing?  At age 8, with such control and a GOOD ear (she modulated twice without hesitation or uncertainty)… that’s an awesome gift!  I pray that we all get to watch her musical development.

What did y’all think???

Ok, my week of atonement is over:-) Since I'm just getting back on the comments scene, I said I'm gonna try and be more sensitive to what I say(at least for the 1rst week). With that being said, I'm not even gonna touch the topic of the Super Choir men & those shirts:-) Maurette Brown Clark is one of my personal favorites, and her project is awesome. She is definitely the best at ad libs, and exhorting, without trying to scream you down or riff to death. To be honest, she sounded a lil rough the first half of her first song. Yes, her daughter was great. That song really ministered to me yesterday. EJ, I'm a lil disappointed that you left out the real stars of the show. Angelo & Veronica. They were awesome, and that girl was sangin! She's not too bad on the eyes either:-) I REALLY enjoyed both their songs. Darius Brooks: The song was over and Bobby Jones was trying to interview him, but Darius just wouldnt let that song go. Now he was acting like he was just so full of the spirit, but there wasnt not one hint of a tear in his eye, lol. He's definitely a performer.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Thank the Lord that they like to post episode snippets!!! Those shirts are just a big no no. As EJ would say "me REALLY no likey!" Whatever they were going for...they missed! Maurette was great as usual. I love the song so she could have sat down and I would be cheering! And lil miss Jada... GOD BLESS THE CHILD!!! It's so refreshing to see the purity of her love of Jesus and how it comes across thru song. Look out for her in about 7 years.

Yeah, those shirts were just wrong. But that little girl was so precious!

I agree...I wasn't feeling the "vibe" either, and those shirts the gentlemen were wearing were extremely "late". I did enjoy the opening song. I am FREE!

Jada sang her little heart out...and I love Maurette...you can't tell me that she's not anointed when she can just ad-lib at the drop of a dime.

@luda: welcome back, renewed soul! I left out Angelo & Veronica cuz... well, I kinda fast-forwarded through it cuz I didn't wanna hear it. :-( It's not that they aren't good, by any means. I just... didn't wanna. @Highly Favored: I cannot BELIEVE that you scoured the net for some clips-- but I'm SO glad you found 'em. LOL Me SUPER DUPER no likey. LOL @C. Ivan Johnson: LOL @ "late". I can't remember how the opening song went-- eyes were still burning from the bare chestedness!

I've always loved Maurette's voice, even before she was with Richard Smallwood and Vision. And I'm a Angelo and Veronica ALL THE WAY!!!, since day one!
