This is my first entry in one of the latest GospelPundit.com series– Across The Aisle (click here if you don’t remember what it’s all about).
First up: One of my favorite CCM artists– Chris Tomlin.
Folks who don’t immediately know of him may recognize some of his awesome songs, like “How Great Is Our God” (re-done by dozens, including Jonathan Nelson & Purpose and Bishop Paul Morton,), ”Your Grace Is Enough,” or ”Forever” (recently re-made by Darwin Hobbs). Or, perhaps many of you have recently learned of him through Israel Houghton, who’s been promoting his new album while touring with Chris Tomlin on Tomlin’s Hello Love tour since the beginning of this year.
In any case, he’s a baaaaaad man. He articulates his relationship and his WORSHIP of God in such an inspiring way. His music is refreshing and I can let his albums play ALL the way through every time.
For your listening and viewing pleasure, here’s one of my favorite Chris Tomlin tracks, “Indescribable” (it’s recorded live in the Netherlands, so don’t be freaked out by the foreign writing… pleadin’ the Blood and what not…):
Whatd’ya think? Are y’all already hip to him? What songs do you love? Anybody a “new convert”? LOL Lemme know.

Thanks! This is a beautiful song, reminds me of "Here I Am to Worship" I do find it very hard to describe receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. He has a nice voice too, perfect for meditation. He's smooth. I have never heard of him.
.'.you see the depths of my heart and you love me the same'.. fell in love first time i heard it...
woo hoo! love me some chris tomlin and agree about being able to play straight through his albums - which is an extreme rarity for me!! fave songs include "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)," "Jesus Messiah," "Holy Is The Lord" and "Unfailing Love." keep this series coming, Ej!!! :)
His songwriting is peerless.
EJ GET OUT MY HEAD this is my SONGGGGGGGG chris tomlins writing is AMAZING his words pierce to the heart
Yes man, this is the guy. He's been one of the writer's behind a lot of the worship songs we sing for a while. And yeah, "Indescribable" is one of my favorite's. They play it a lot here in Nashville.
EJ! This is so good that you are doing this. We (black musicians, worship leaders, artists, singers, etc) must know that worship is universal. If you can only be effective in a black church, I think you have to take another look at your craft and where God could really take you. My favorite tomlin song right now is "God of This City, originally done by another hot group called Bluetree. I found that out after searching the song on YouTube last week. I hope you listen to it if you don't already know it. Thanks for this wonderful site. I am thoroughly enjoying myself! Glenda
@gwill: i'm glad you're enjoying it. i'm blessed to have you on the site. please make yourself at home and stick around! :-)
