Yeah, people Slept On it. BIG TIME.
I had been eager to buy Andraé Crouch’s Mighty Wind for a while before it came out cuz I heard that it would feature guest spots from some of the industry’s greatest artists.
Well, the treats simply TUMBLE out of this project, as almost every song features a powerhouse vocalist. The first track, “I Was Glad,” featured Tata Vega on lead (if you don’t know her name, you definitely know her voice– she is the recorded singing voice of Shug Avery in The Color Purple) and you can hear Melonie Daniels doing some riffs in the bgv’s.
Then, the album moves to “All Because Of Jesus,” with Marvin Winans DEMOLISHING the lead. Next is “Jesus Is Lord” with Karen Clark-Sheard… oh man! Then Fred Hammond takes lead on “Oh, Give Thanks.” Other notable guest spots include Marcus Cole (“Come Home”) and Crystal Lewis (“We Give You Glory”)… y’all don’t OWN this?!
In short, this whole project was BANANAS and I think a lot of people don’t own it, which is a sin and a shame. I couldn’t find full-length streaming audio, but here are TWO snippets for ya– Marvin Winans on “All Because Of Jesus,” and Karen Clark-Sheard on “Jesus Is Lord”:

I didn't sleep on it bro! Andre is my fav gospel pioneer! I bought this when it came out and i let my uncle(minister of music at my church) borrow it he loved it so much he went out and bought his own copy and our choir sings a few songs from that project.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have been a fan of this project since the beginning. I think it is a sad commentary on the state of Gospel music when we don't take the time to acknowledge and value our contemporary Gospel forefathers. Without Andrae, so much of what has happened in Gospel music over the past 30 years would not have been possible. Even though his body has aged, his writing and sense of production and arrangement are sharp on this project. Big ups to Luther "Mano" Hanes as co-producer.
As you know EJ, I am gospel lover. I have this album and it's great. The song with Karen is awesome. There are alot of good "collabos"......

Yes sir, i have it. Wonderful project. @Tyrone She has a cd out but you have to go to her church's website to purchase it. She attends Allen Cathedral A.M.E. Someone on facebook asked that question and that's what she told them to do.
I've owned "Jesus Is Lord" since it came out via itunes, iono why i never completed the cd though...anywho i have now! yay! @ray Melonie's cd is great 2, i had even bought extra copies to give as gifts. She can just sing anything.
"All Because of Jesus" is one of my Youth Choir's favorite songs at church. they can't wait to get to the reprise. Great project. What about "Give it All Back to me" on the "Mercy" project? I'm sorry, this is YOUR blog! :)

This is indeed a very strong project that was about two years behind schedule in it's release. I've had it since it dropped and I still play it often. It's one of those that you can play and not hit the skip button...lol I didn't feel that the project got the push it needed when it was first released. Just my 2 cents...

I was there at the recording. I actually prayed for Karen Clark-Sheard before she went on. It was awesome and Andrae will be doing even GREATER recordings than this.............in the Last Days..........so be on the lookout!!! JESUS IS THE VICTOR AND THE BEST IS YET TO COME!!!!! YOU AIN'T SEEN NUTHIN' YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God has some AWESOME SURPRISES in store..........wait and see....... OH TASTE AND SEE THE LORD IS GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! Andrae Crouch is the greatest and most prophetic Gospel songwriter and performer on this planet! No one can compare to him! They might try.................but try on............everyone copies him, but they can't be him! HE IS THE GREATEST AND NEEDS ALL OUR PRAYERS AND RESPECT! Pray for him for a LONG and healthy life and MORE SONGS AND MORE ALBUMS to bless us and bless God! AMEN! JESUS IS THE VICTOR AND THE BEST IS STILL YET TO COME! HALLELUJAH!
