On TV: Sunday Best Down To The Final Two

Hope you didn’t tune it late… cuz just 10 minutes into the show, they had finished the much-hyped “sing-off” and sent Latice Crawford packin’.

I was rather frustrated with the entire show last night.  Not necessarily cuz of anything the contestants did, but because I just don’t think it was well done.

The show opened with Kirk announcing that the sing-off would begin immediately, and that the contestants would be singing “Jesus Loves Me,” with no rehearsal, no huge band– just vocals and an organ.  Great.  Lookin’ forward to it.

Latice Crawford came out first and did a great job, followed by Jessica and Y’Anna.  I thought Latice seemed most comfortable and kinda gave a better vocal than Jessica and Y’Anna (though, don’t ever get me wrong– I looooooves me some Jessica and Y’Anna).  In any event, right after they sang, the show moved into “results” mode and Latice was sent home.

What the world?!  Even if the judges thought that Latice didn’t “win” the sing-off, it’s not like they went to a commercial break to actually DISCUSS who did win it… Clearly, a decision had already been made, which begs the question– why we gotta extend things for an entire week?  All you really needed was to add 10 more minutes to the end of LAST week’s show to make your decision.  Or, maybe there was more that we didn’t see and the editing was just THAT good…

In any event, I simmered down once Ricky Dillard & New G hit the stage to perform “Search Me, Lord” (from their latest release, 7th Episode, which is incredible).  I was gonna be satisfied with just that, but you should’ve heard my GLEE when it flipped into a funky remix of his CLASSIC choir hit, “More Abundantly.”  I think I kinda lost my mind for a minute.  I’ve been a lifelong fan (shout-out to Chicago choirs!), so I was VERY pleased.

Then, Y’Anna took to the stage again, singing “The Battle Is The Lord’s.”  It’s CLASSIC and she did a great job ministering.  Jessica followed, with “I Won’t Complain,” and also did a phenomenal job ministering.  I agreed with the judges– you could see when something flipped for her in the middle of the song, and the words started ministering to her first, THEN to us.  Both ladies gave great performances.

Last season’s winner, Crystal Aikin, followed with a performance of her single, ”I Desire More.”  It’s a great song, which she performs VERY well, in my opinion.  I’ma need Brother Sound Man to give us a little more of her and a bit less of the music, though. :-( Still, she really delivers that song and it was great to kinda have that full-circle moment with last year’s winner.

Y’Anna and Jessica capped off the evening with a duet of “Jesus Is Love.” Now, I said on Twitter last night (you followin’ me???) that I did not understand WHY someone chose that song out of aaaall the duets that could have been created.  And the mediocre performance further illustrated my point.  Just cuz Smokie Norful and Heather Headley recently turned it into a duet doesn’t make it work!  The key seemed right for Y’Anna, not right for Jessica.  And there wasn’t a whole lot for either of them to do (vocally) to demonstrate their artistry, so it just kinda came off like an awkward performance to me.

The show ended and we were reminded of how we can vote for our favorite contestant.  Unfortunately, at NO POINT DURING ANY PORTION OF THE SHOW were we told WHEN voting would end.  ARRRGH!

Fear not, readers… that’s what GospelPundit.com is here for:

You can vote until 12 noon PST on Saturday, May 9th.  There are three ways to vote:

1.  Click here to vote online.

2.  Call toll-free: (877) 701-0141 for Jessica… (877) 701-0142 for Y’Anna.

3.  Send a text to 70101 with the letter ‘A’ for Jessica… ‘B’ for Y’Anna. (Note: that’ll cost ya $0.49 per text in addition to any standard rates on your plan, so guess who’ll be doing the “online” and “toll-FREE” option?)

ALL IN ALL, as heavy-handed as this particular recap was, I have loved the entire season of this show.  The vocalists were so good that it’s gonna be fair either way… and, if Latice had stayed, I woulda been absolutely fine with that, too.

Make sure you click here to read my EXCLUSIVE interviews with each of the three ladies, if you haven’t done so already.  And make sure you head over to the new poll in the sidebar (>>>>>>>>>) to predict the winner of the show.

MY PREDICTION:  I’ve always said that Jessica is my FAVORITE contestant, and she still is.  I’ve also never taken anything away from Y’Anna, cuz she’s phenomenal too.  I love both of these ladies as vocalists and I can see them as new artists.  That said, if people vote the way I expect them to, Y’Anna Crawley will be crowned Sunday Best next week.

Let me just say...I'm waiting for Latice's project!!! I like the other ladies...but to me Latice sings them under with no effort! So I was a lil disappointed when she left! Ricky & New G did save the show for me! I love gospel all the way...so i'm supportive of whomever the winner maybe..i agree it will prolly be Y'Anna..and she is a singer...i just miss latice already!! Grace & Peace!

Man, I've been pretty cool with the show up until last night. Everyone know I was going for Latice, but even if you weren't, you can't deny that her rendition of Jesus loves me was the best. Like u said, they already had their minds made up before the song, so what was the point. That was very uncool, and they lost some credibility points with in my eyes. The editing was also bad yesterday. If it's the last show, we should have at least been able to see the last 2 contestants full songs. I thought MsCrawly fell short ok her song, I was disappointed, and the editing didn't help her. Jessica Ready did better with her song, but at the end of the day it wasn't cool how they did latice. Kirk Franklin loses cool points for introducing new g as "ricky dillard & the new g's", LOL! Cmon Kirk, you ain't up on your gospel choirs???

I could not agree with you more. I think Latice got completely robbed. I don't know what the judges are looking for, but I don't think they are looking for the best pure singer. It seems to me they are looking for someone who can minister, as well as someone who is marketable. All 3 ladies are outstanding, but Jessica will be getting my vote.

Everyone knows I am a Y'anna fan from day one, but last night after the sing off it was like, Latice gone??? That was too fast for me! I had no time to soak that in, I needed to have time to process that! After her "Jesus Loves Me", she took me back to the "Peace Be Still" performance. Can you say mesmerized? So my girl Y'anna came up ("Battle is Not Yours"), and I expected her to sing like it was her last time, but she didn't, but she still sang. The judges criticizing her (and not Jessica) bothered me, but eh - what can you do!? So Jessica sang and I was like is she about to sing "I Won't Complain"? Really? She sang that and I felt it -I must admit and the judges did too! Ok, so when they had the duet, I was like - are you serious? So they sang it and did a nice job. Kind of awkward, but it looked like my girl Y'anna was holding back like she didn't want to steal the show b/c she could have easily and Jessica was hanging with her in her own way. I would have loved to see Y'Anna and Latice do that duet though...oooh! Well, the final chapter. I feel Y'anna is the stronger singer. However, I like Jessica too, b/c she touches you in her own style. I think people are just like, let's get it over with and let these girls put out their CDs so we can buy them. Can't do nothing about the results anyways - darn!!!! I must say, seems like the season was really short. I wouldn't mind a longer season, but that's probably just me. I love me some Chrystal Aikins - she could have sang acapella for all I care, lol!

EJ you are correct about the sing off, I felt the same way. The decision was already made. They didn't think that out. I really hope Jessica win, I think we need something different in the gospel industry. We have plenty of Yanna in my opinion. I think the duet selection was just fine for Jessica and Yanna. They could have pick a Ted and Sheri song, on the real. The two are total opposites in regards to vocal range. You know it hard to tell who Bebe, Kirk, and Erica are going for, but Tina makes it very obvious who she going for.

  • Shaun wrote on May 4, 2009

Latice has been my fav since the beginning. She just has that factor to me that stands out. Her rendition of Jesus Loves Me proved that on last night. She is different and will still do well. The others are good but I definitely think that there are enough Yanna styled singers out there already. I fill that Latice was the most anointed out of the 3 but hey...it is what it is as far as who they chose. I am hoping that Jessica wins since one of the two who would bring something different is gone.

  • Keisha wrote on May 4, 2009

I got home late so I missed Latice being sent home and their renditions of "Jesus Loves Me". :( I kinda wish they would've just made their decision last week if that was gonna be the extent of the alleged "sing-off". I may be in the minority but I was feeling Y'Anna's take on "Battle Is the Lord's" more than Jessica's "I Won't Complain". Y'anna just blessed me with that, the song alone is just so personal for me. I'm not tryna hate but wasn't it a little suspect that I didn't see not one tear drop from Jessica? Hmmm. Just saying. The duet was cool to me, Y'anna shined for me in that as well. I can tell that she was holding back because I know she wanted to take that song elsewhere. Like somebody else said, Jessica is clearly the favorite. I don't care who wins because I'm sure all will have record deals anyway.

  • Chad wrote on May 4, 2009

I agree with some of you here. Latice did have the BEST rendition, jessica has been one of my favs since the beginning but there was no denying that latice killed Y'annas and Jessicas rendition last night, I'm not sure what the judges are looking for and i havent been able to figure that out since day one but im sure the label has guidelines for them to follow when choosing a contestant its like Cliff said earlier im sure the label told them to not only pick someone who can sing but is also marketable and out of those 3 they prob felt y'anna and jessica are more marketable and out of those 2 jessica is prob more marketable because she brings something different to the table we've heard singers like y'anna before but there is not too many that sound like jessica in gospel music..all in all it was aight show..how bout RICKY DILLARD! that is my dude, he sure know how to usher in the presence of GOD and his directing skills....Sheesh makes me think about O'landa Draper, watch Ricky makes me really miss O'landa Draper!!!!!

  • dev wrote on May 4, 2009

I'm in total agreement. Latice did the BEST on teh sing off but i feel like it was pointless. I mean they obviously had there mind's made up. they didnt seem to facor the sing off in it at all. Unless like you said EJ the editing was just THAT good. Ugh. the whole show was kinda thrown together. I believe Jessica is gonna win.

  • dev wrote on May 4, 2009

    still <3 Sunday best though

  • luvgoodsangin wrote on May 4, 2009

Last night confirmed the shenanigan factor on Sunday Best!!!!! Latice who CLEARLY had the best 'sing-off' performance was eliminated. Producers stretched that out to get more ratings, more advertisers, more money???? When did the judges deliberate? How did the contestants know when their 1:35 was up? Was it the big, clanging drum? I am with you EJ. I was frustrated with how the outcome was orchestrated. Don't play with people, man!!! Truth to it---Latice had some performances where she should have gone home and DIDN"t and now she's eliminated when she truly shouldn't have been.... SHENANIGANS!!!!

  • luv2lissen wrote on May 4, 2009

The Sing Off First I have to ask the question, "Why in the world did they have to sing 'Jesus Loves Me?' Don't get me wrong I love the words and they are very true, but when you are trying to show vocal ability, there is only so much you can do with this song. On the same hand, I must say that the ladies delivered! Latice Crawford We watched her come out and murder Peace Be Still, and we set our expectations really high for her. Week after week she came out and ministered, yet none seemed to top the "success" of her rendition of Peace Be Still, however she still brought it and through the show she has been one of the few who has ministered and not performed! When she sang Jesus Loves Me, she proved once again why she has stayed around so long! In the word's of my grandma, "She flat foot sang that song." Jessica Reedy From the beginning she had a way of singing that I am not fond of. Week after week she has showed no versatility, I have not seen anything that suggests that she could come into the church and conduct praise and worship. That still doesn't take away from the fact that she has a good voice, but she seems to lack the passion to minister. Many people can perform but not all have the ability to minister, and you have to know the difference. As someone stated to me yesterday, "She would rip it on American Idol, but not Sunday Best," and I totally agree. I see her as Saturday Night Best, you know when you're relaxing and want to just take the night off and clear your mind. If gospel is the genre for her maybe I could see her at a "Christian After-set," but she is not, in my opinion Sunday Best! Y'Anna Crawley My favorite from the very beginning! She started with For This I Give You Praise and has gotten better and better, and although I have said it before I will say it again, she announced that she was a force to be reckoned with when she sang Grandma's Hand and accepted her title as Sunday Best when she sang I Don't Feel No Ways Tired...this girl knew Psalm 138...that's not a familiar passage...she been studying to show herself approved, and not only does she sing, she ministers and she takes you down through there with her! She has the stage presence, anointing, and confidence. The total package! After the Sing off was over, I was ticked to see that Latice had to go. Once again I turned to the judges, and was like what's the point? If you were going to do that, then why have a sing off? Reminded me of how they did Zebulon! I'm tired of these judges! Jessica vs Y'Anna When the competition of the night began I had a frown on my face. What was this, Funeral Night? I mean if you are from where I'm from you know that I Won't Complain, and The Battle Is The Lord's are the most popular funeral songs. I was waiting on Kandra, Toya Carthon, and "Boo" (Jennifer Robinson) to come on stage and take em to church. I was like are they serious?! Y'Anna Crawley The Battle Is The Lord's-Once again she delivered, however I must say this was not my favorite from her, especially this late in the competition. She brought it though. I agree somewhat with what Erica said, "At her worst, she's still fantastic." This wasn't her worst, yet it was not the Yannie that I would have liked to see last night. They should let her pick her own song so that we could hear from her! You still rocked, and you have a ride or die fan in me! Jessica When singing I Won't Complain, you really have to bring it. She had a good tone, but she rushed it. Her performances have gotten repetitive. We all knew how she was gonna end it...IN TEARS!!!! I did a count down, because I knew that the water works were about to come on in 5, 4, 3, 2,1 we have tears ladies and gentlemen! Crystal Aikin She really brought it with I Desire More. Her performance last night tops the studio recording on the CD. Duet I really should be a producer, or the person who picks the songs. I want to know who picked it and why!! I was wondering when Y'Anna was going to give it, and she couldn't have picked a better time. She showed us that this is a competition and she got it! This lady sang a ring around that girl. Enough said!

  • r.ford wrote on May 4, 2009

The duet was cool, Y'Anna did the screaming and Jessica did the melodies they were equally good. I believe they enjoyed singing together. I not sure who is going to win but both will have careers as a gospel singer. Jessica brings something new and fresh to the table, that you can enjoy on a Sunday drive or sitting on the porch. Y'Anna brings a church voice we've all heard before that we play before going to church. When Jessica sings I feel, PEACE. When Y'Anna sings I feel JOY. Gospel means the teaching of Jesus Christ, period! So, it's not for us to said who is annointed or not. IT'S NOT ABOUT THE MESSENGER IT'S ABOUT THE MESSAGE.

Luv2lissen, I think u should change your name to luv2write:-)

  • jamz wrote on May 4, 2009

Y'anna's my pick. I think she really connects with any song she sings. She seems really annointed, and has a special realness to the way she presents each song. I admit I haven't been regularly watching, but I definately caught the show last night, and it did go by pretty quickly. I'm disappointed that they didn't just finish it all... So I guess we have no choice but to wait for next week. I hope I'll be able to watch.

  • mdixon wrote on May 4, 2009

GO JESSICA!!!!! if she dont minister to u that does not mean she is not annoited thats just not your style your preference for example ricky dillard and new G do nuthing for me but im sure they are annoited. thats just not my style... when jessica sings i do feel the presence of god and its a VERY diff approach. most people feel because she doesnt have the high range to growl and hoop and holler she cant effectively minister? CRYSTAL AIKIN IS THE BESTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!! that gurl is great im ready for her sophomore release she is PHENOMENAL

There's enough comments about this past Sunday's show so I won't touch it.... BUT THIS WHAT'S BOTHERING ME.... BET is advertising commercials for the FINAL Sunday Best show coming up and they are already showing what the show is going to be like, the guest, etc.... Now how can we vote for a pre-tapped show???? If the show has already taken place, that mean that they have a winner and our votes doesn't count. Last year's final show was live. But this one looks as it is pre-tapped because they showing the final 2 contestants hugged up waiting to be crowned. And BeBe & CeCe is the special guest along with Kirk and a marching band. Have anyone else seen these commercials? Something just aint right....

OKAY PEOPLE, I AM SHOUTING WHAT I HAVE TO SAY IN ALLLLLLL CAPS ON THIS SUBJECT. LISTEN, THEY PROBABLY SHOULD NOT OF HAD A SING OFF AND JUST LEFT IT TO THE PERFOMANCES THAT HAPPENED OVER THE PAST SO MANY WEEKS. THEY HAD THAT SING OFF, BUT THEY REALLY MADE THE FINAL DECISION LAST NIGHT OFF OF THE PAST PERFORMANCES OF ALL THREE CONTESTANTS. SO THAT'S WHERE THE DECISION CAME FROM LAST NIGHT. THEY SHOULD NOT OF HAD THAT SING OFF, CAUSE LATICE DID OUTSING THE OTHER TWO LADIES ON THAT SONG, BUT LATICE WAS ALL TALENT TO ME AND NO FEELING, NO CONNECTION WITH THE AUDIENCE, SHE WAS JUST ALLLL TALENT AND KIND OF DEAD IN THE FACE WHEN SHE DID HER PERFORMANCES. NOW AS FOR Y'ANNA- SHE DID HER BEST WITH THAT SONG LAST NIGHT BECAUSE HER VOICE WAS SO SHOT, AND FROM WHAT I'VE BEEN TOLD THEY HAVE THOSE CONTESTANTS DOING OTHER RECORDINGS AND OTHER MUSICAL THINGS BEHIND THE SCENES, SO I THOUGHT SHE WAS AWESOME TAKING ALL THAT EXTRA WORK THEY'VE BEEN DOING BEHIND THE SCENES INTO CONSIDERATION. BUT YA'LL KNOW WHEN Y'ANNA IS FULL VOICED THAT THAT GIRL IS VERSITILE AND SHE IS ALLL THAT AND A RACK. SO LAST NIGHT GIVING THE BEHIND THE SCENES CIRCUMSTANCES AND ALL THAT EXTRA POUNDING ON HER VOICE, THE BODY AND VOCAL CORDS CAN ONLY TAKE SO MUCH, GIVING ALL THAT CONSIDERATION THAT GIRL DID AWESOME ON YOLANDA ADAMS'S SONG. HAD SHE'D BEEN FULL VOICED, SHE WOULD OF MADE YOLANDA WISH SHE HADN'T RECORDED THAT SONG FIRST, AND I LOVE ME SOME YOLANDA ADAMS.(SMILE) aS FOR jESSICA - THAT GIRL IS ALWAYS OFF THE CHAIN, EVERY PERFORMANCE, BUT THERE IS NOT A LOT OF VERSITILITY THERE, BUT THE GIRL IS BAD, YA HEARD ME , AND THE INDUSTRY DEFINITELY NEED VOICES LIKE HERS, LITTLE DEBBIE WINANS, TONI BRAXTON, GLADYS KNIGHT, ALL THE PEOPLE SHE REMINDS YOU OF. SHE IS GREAT WITH HER TALENT AND SHE HAD HER HEART ALL INTO WHAT SHE WAS SINGING EVERY PERFORMANCE, AND SO DID Y'ANNA, AND SO THAT'S WHY THE TWO OF THEM WERE PICKED. YOU COULD FEEL THE TESTIMONY FROM Y'ANNA AND JESSICA WHEN THEY SANG, BUT THAT LATICE YOU COULDN'T FEEL THAT CONSISTENTLY WITH HER. NOW ALL THAT IS JUST MY OPINION, BUT THEY PICKED THE TWO WHOM I WOULD HAVE PICKED AND I THINK THE JUDGES MADE AN EXCELLENT DECISION AND THEY ALL WILL HAVE RECORD DEALS AIN'T NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. GOD DOES HAVE THAT PLANNED FOR THE THREE OF THEM. NOW, I DO THINK Y'ANNA IS GONNA TAKE IT ALL, BUT I WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED IF JESSICA ENDED UP WINNING IF AMERICA GETS INVOLVED IN THE VOTING PROCESS. GOD BLESS YA'LL!

  • verna henry wrote on May 4, 2009

I must be honest, from the beginning of the show I felt that the judges wasn't keeping the right people in. But, as the show progressed, the judges are right on point. The only thing that surprised me was that Latice was voted off. Although, everybody please admit those three young ladies Jessica, Y'anna & Latice are all great singers. However, Jessica wins my vote, she is a new voice to the gospel industry. I believe Jessica when she opens her mouth. Jessica I am happy that the Lord God abled you to be on Sunday Best to witness through your singing voice. You really blessed me with the last song "I won't complain". You are growing and that is a good thing. I believe you are starting to believe in yourself as an important instrument for the Lord God. If you are not chosen for Sunday Best, you will always be the best singer on Sunday Best season two (2). You go Jessica Reedy!

  • Naomi Henry wrote on May 4, 2009

  • ran wrote on May 4, 2009

Soooooo speechless/annoyed with last nights show! No doubt that all three are beastyyyy...but Latice should not have been kicked off whatsoever! I'm convinced there is some shady business goin on behind the scenes. If I even decide to vote...my vote is goin to Y'anna only because she's the most well-rounded singer!

  • Har'Rell wrote on May 4, 2009

I was hoping Shari Addison would break outta there somewhere last night lol. Anyhoo, I agree with everybody about the sing off thing. That was just tacky and unfair. I really LOVE Latice and I think she'll do well even tho she won't be winning the competition! As for Jessica and Y'Anna, I think that Y'Anna is gonna win it. However, I hope they do like they did last year and just sign both of them! Jessica is my girl tho. Her testimony just blesses me

  • Tgbtg wrote on May 4, 2009

I coudn't believe Latice got dismissed! I looked forward to watching her every week. Although, I did think last week's performance was a little flat. Latice was my definite pick to win Sunday Best. Jessica has a nice voice; however, she has shown no versatility. Every song was sung the same way. Her renditions rarely moved me. As others have written, she does not seem to have the annointing that Latice and Y'Anna have when singing. If I want to listen to jazzy, neo-soul music like that I would listen to an artist like Ledisi or Maysa. Jessica certainly has talent --- I just don't think she is truly Sunday Best. I would have liked to see Dontavies Boatwright still in the competition instead of Jessica. Still, I wish Jessica God's blessings. This experience will surely open doors for her future. As for Y'Anna. She definitely brings it! Yes, her sound can be found in many church choirs, but good singing is good singing! She has shown her versatility and the ability to touch people. I choose Y'anna as the ultimate winner of Sunday Best (since Latice is gone)! As for the judging, Did you hear them (Mary Mary) talking about how Jessica didn't WAIL during her performance? I took that as a back-handed "diss" for Y'Anna! Anyone agree??? For the record: The show MUST be pre-taped because Y'anna and Hezekiah Walker will be performing @ 6:30pm at my church on Sunday, May 10, 2009! First Baptist Church of Glenarden (Upper Marlboro, MD)

  • Audience Member wrote on May 4, 2009

The show was prerecorded and I was in the Audience for the finale, our votes count because they taped it as if both were winners and after the votes are counted the tape will be edited and only show the one winner...makes sense?

  • Keisha wrote on May 4, 2009

@tgbtg "As for the judging, Did you hear them (Mary Mary) talking about how Jessica didn’t WAIL during her performance? I took that as a back-handed “diss” for Y’Anna! Anyone agree???" Yeah, I caught that too. This is what I was saying the other week on this site. I'd like to see Mary Mary take heed to some of their own advice given to these contestants and apply it to their own performances if that's gonna be the case. Jessica and Y'anna deliver more quality singing than the 2 of them. Lawd knows I've seen more MINISTRY out of LATICE on this game show than 98% of Mary Mary's performances.

  • gospelfan wrote on May 5, 2009

So "Audience Member" that means that the winner cries and tears are scripted and the audience reaction is scripted and everything is fake???

@anyone NEW to the site: WELCOME and thanks for your comments. keep visiting, aight?! @all: yeah, the show was pre-taped, but the tears that we see this coming Sunday, regardless of who wins, should be real, I think. And our votes def count for which version is aired, so make sure y'all are voting!!!

Jessica and Y'Anna are both wonderful singers and its hard for me to choose. These are the two I chose for finalist. I'm going to have to pray on this one cause they both have beautiful voices. Although Y'Anna got me with that Grandma song, She sang that song weeks ago and I still tear up and get emotional when I think about it. I hope they both get record deals.

  • Tgbtg wrote on May 10, 2009

It is7:24pm EST, and I have just finished watching Y'anna sing at my church - First Baptist Church of Glenarden (Online). She was beyond awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She sang three songs: The Mary Mary song she sang on Sunday Best. "Grandma's Hands" "It Ain't Over" by Maurette Clark Brown What a wondeful performance, ministering, and annointing. I was so moved. What we have seen on Sunday Best was just a taste. As for Sunday Best, of course I will watch it tonight. But, after seeing Y'anna let loose . . . . . . She is the definitely the winner for me whether she is crowned the ewinner or not. I still say the final two competitors should have been her and Latice! After seein Y'anna tonight, there is no doubt she can bring it . . . . .No matter what she is singing. Gotta go now, Hezekiah Walker is about to perform!!!! www.FBCGlenarden.org

  • stephanie wrote on May 13, 2009

Hey Yvonne I think that you are totally wrong about Latice not performacing well. I think that she gave her best ,her style was awesome, she looked at the audience, made eye contact, but on the other hand Jessica had all that hair in her face always looking at the floor always fake crying this is not being anointed. When you are really anointed you are not trying to act pretty or mess your make up. Even when the anointing fell on Latice she knew how to carry her self and maintain. That`s why the show turn out the way it did, people and the judges got caught up with looks, testimonies, outer appearances, because they really just don`t know true ministry.

  • Yvonne wrote on May 13, 2009

Hey Stephanie, Girl, to each his/her own. Obviously you like Latrice and so did a lot of other people, and I totally understand why they did cause she is very beautiful and talented, but she just didn't do it for me. Now that's my opinion, and obviously the judges felt the same way and they are not just judges, they are successful judges who work in this industry and ahdve been around for a long time, and I'd like to think that they know what their talking about about. So I choose to go with the judges, and the show has spoken even with america voting, so it wasn't all up to the judges after all, but america spoke and picked the same two people. So it's all good. You're entitled to your opinion and I do understand it cause a lot of people did love Latrice. I'm sure you'll be buying her product when it comes out and I probably will too. Blessings to ya.

  • stephanie wrote on May 13, 2009

Hey Yvonne again You should also look at the whole picture. America did not vote at this point it was after the final two. The HOST, JUDGES, AMERICAN VOTING, Look at their style of singing like you said each to his/her own. Mary, Mary,Kirk , are successful but that don`t mean that they are awesome singers, I never heard Kirk sing anything, in my opinion they should had a little more wisdom than what they used because they had to start somewhere too. They showed too much praise toward Jessica. As for Tina, she constantly commented with (dang, dag,) remember professional people don`t conduct themselves like this. It showed to much FAVORTISM toward Jessica, even inviting her to sing on stage with her. They always spent extra time with Jessica,Over showering her with compliments, allowing her to give them a little more of her voice, I never heard them do Latice like that out of all the episodes. Don`t get me wrong I proud of all of them! but don`t cut people down I KNOW it was a hard decision but the judges were off!!!!!!

stephanie, Hey darlin, like i said america and the judges voted and that's all to be said. It's over with and the winner has been picked and I believe that it was the Lord's doing behind it all for WHATEVER REASON, only God knows why the decisions turned out the way they did, so there's no need for you to feel like you have to keep fighting for Latrice. It's over and done with and neither you nor I can change the vote. What's done is done, and it doesn't matter when america's vote got involved, THE DECISION HAS BEEN MADE AND IS FINAL. God bless you.
