I wasn’t expecting this to be such a blow-out, but y’all have spoken and the answer is clear…
Which mainstream artist dabbles in gospel so much that they need to just come on over full-time?
Fantasia – 147 votes (75%)
Faith Evans - 21 votes (11%)
Jennifer Hudson - 21 votes (11%)
Anthony Hamilton – 7 votes (4%)
John Legend – 1 vote (1%)
I can’t say that I disagree– Fantasia’s got a churchy voice ALL DAY. I kinda expected Jennifer Hudson to have more votes, but like I said… not surprised.
What do y’all think??? And do you wanna add anyone else’s names to the mix?
And head over to the sidebar NOW to weigh-in on the new poll:
Who do you predict will WIN Sunday Best?

This is not a surprise. Just to add, I recently had a chance to hear Fantasia's mother minister a few weeks ago. MAN!!!!! She is truly a anointed woman and she have some vocals. She mention that Fantasia will be using her voice for GOD.
It was between Fantasia and Faith Evans for me. I have a mix compilation of Faith's gospel songs she's recorded by herself and collaborations with other artists like Shirley Caesar, Karen Clark Sheard, Donald Lawrence, etc throughout the years. I love it. I listen to it more than a few of her actual studio albums.
Faith also blew us away on Celebration of Gospel some years back!
Come on EJ. Are you really that surprised? Fantasia demolished the Celebration of Gospel, wrecked shop on Bobby Jones, and made Tye Tribbett a household name on the BET Awards! Quite honestly, I'm sick and tired of feeling like I should be speaking in tongues and she's singing something like Lady Marmalade!
I would vote for Fantasia. I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't leave secular music to minister full-time, as she is truly annointed! But I would add Aretha Franklin and Gladys Knight to your list.
@Mylum lol... I'm trippin' because I know the very Fantasia (Lady Marmalade) performance you are talkin about and I felt the same way. I'm like why am I going in on this song as she sings it. It would be great to have her sing gospel full time and I would really appreciate an Anthony Hamilton gospel album.
I found this piece of information quite intersting and excited to see it pan out in the furture...In regards to Ms. Chrisette Michele "When she appeared on an episode of "Lift Every Voice" on BET in February 2009, hosted by Coco Brother, she has shared that she would like to one day record a live Worship (Gospel) album." I'd be there, most def. But yeah, I think Fantasia is just anointed to do music. Cuz i just feel her in her performances. So excited for the day she does a gospel album, but until then i'm going to enjoy her just where she is.
@dev: YEZZIR... I wrote about that episode a coupla months ago and Chrisette commented on it. :-) Chrisette Michele has got an awesome gift, a heart to serve God... and a new album in stores TODAY! (shameless plug... go cop it) @Diane: you're right-- GLADYS KNIGHT... oh my. And, of course, Aretha Franklin is not even a question. Both of them need to just come on over... lol @Odi & @Mylum: YES... whenever Fantasia sings-- it can be the roughest and toughest song out there-- it's a step away from a quick shout and a step. LOL
I would appreciate an unplugged worship album from India.Arie and a quartet style cd from D'Angelo! Can I get a duet with Kim Burrell and Jazmine Sullivan?!
@Mylum--you are all in my head!!!!! I too find myself very conflicted while listening to Fantasia sing something secular but leaving me feeling very goseply on the inside. I would also love to hear India. Arie go to chu'ch and something about Jazmine Sullivan singing about lions, and tigers and bears just makes me want to throw something at her. LOL--That girl can sang!
