Survey Said: Warryn Campbell

Interesting results… It may be because I used the phrase “hottest production” that you picked the producer with a tremendous amount of… (I promised myself I wouldn’t use this word on the site)… “swag.” But I kinda figured he’d win this poll– his music is bananas.

Excluding producers who are also artists, some of the hottest production in gospel music comes from…

Warryn Campbell – 38 votes (41%)

Aaron Lindsey – 24 votes (26%)

PAJAM – 15 votes (16%)

Asaph Ward – 12 votes (13%)

Kevin Bond – 3 votes (3%)

Cedric & Victor Caldwell – 1 votes (1%)

I don’t think I’m necessarily surprised, though I voted for Aaron Lindsey cuz I tend to think he’s incredibly versatile in his approach.  I think we may be sleeping on the Caldwell brothers, too… they prolly deserved a few more votes.  And are y’all just over Kevin Bond for right now?  He’s quite a mastermind, too.

What did you think?  Anyone that should’ve been added that wasn’t on the list?  Lemme know!

And, head over to the sidebar NOW to vote in the next survey, which asks:

Is it okay for gospel artists to collaborate with secular artists in music?

Voted Aaron Lindsey too, but I aint mad at people going with Warryn Campbell. Kevin Bond is a LIVING LEGEND, but for whatever reason, he's not on big records like he used to be.

Even though he does secular artist also, Fred Jerkin AKA DarkChild has contributed alot to Gospel Music is he is a second-to-none producer

I voted for Aaron Lindsey. It had to be the wording.

All of them are excellent producers. It was Warryn's work on Jason Champion's cd that really made him stand out to me.

@Mylum I too was impressed with what he did on Jason Champions project, not to mention Men of Standards too.

In my opinion W. Campbell keeps working to bring a breath of fresh air to Gospel. I'm not at all saying that A. Lindsey isn't a GREAT asset to the growth of gospel music, but Campbell just keeps me thinking. That's just my humble opinion being an up and coming producer myself. KEVIN will always be Great!!!!

i think all those guys are great but Derek "DOA" Allen needs to be added to this list because the stuff he did with virtue and smokie norful and shirly murdock was incredible!!! i need you know was the biggest gospel song until never couldve made it hit the charts! so "DOA" NEEDS TO BE ON THE LIST!!

Kevin Bond is certainly the best keyboardist out of all of them. And he is on "big records," he just did Micah's last album. Campbell's music is simply not as intricate or as musically intelligent as Bond or Lindsey, is studiorized, sampled, and pretty much secular (though it sounds great and is revolutionizing gospel for the better). God bless them all, but Lindsey's the best.
