The average consumer might think “I love Onitsha cuz I enjoy her music,” without really being able to explain why. The musician hears the nuances and intricacies of the stuff that she does, and thinks “OH… MY… GOODNESS.” Regardless of where you fall on that spectrum, Onitsha’s just… great.
Today, my wife (who put me on to Onitsha in the first place) said “post a video of Onitsha… there’s one where she’s sitting down in a studio, singing a song from her first album.” Sure enough, I found it and thought “THIS is going up TODAY.” Thanks, honey!

Being hearing about her for a while, heard a couple of her songs, and to be honest, they were just ok for me (Im old school). With all that being said, that video is off the chain. Wow!!! I'll probably be watching that at least once every day this week.
FINALLY! lol jk but i'm a big onitsha fan. she is truly vocally gifted and just one of those artists whose conviction overwhelms you each time they sing a lyric. the comparison's to brandy are inevitable (i personally wouldnt mind that comparison lol) but she is a musical blessing in her own right. @EJ : i definitely watched the ustream feed too lol the whole 2 hrs! but seriously though i was just thinking, "what will she do next?!" needless to say i'm looking forward to her sophomore album next year :] p.s. i already KNOW you know your music lol but i was wondering if you were familiar w/ the recent work of sunny hawkins, kevin leVar, & dave hollister. if so, reviews & insight would be appreciated! the ppl need to hear more good music lol God bless
So glad to read a piece on my girl, Onitsha! I will be elated to hear and buy her sophomore CD. My family and I wore the first CD out! I like Onitsha's voice because it stands alone in a world of strong, heavy, full bottom voices and screaming high voices. And please understand that I love the singers with the aforementioned quaities. But I appreciate the unique sound of Onitisha. Thanks EJ!
