Goodies: Kirk Franklin & The Family

CLASSIC (of course)… it’s Kirk Franklin & The Family.  It would HAVE to be classic.

Here, on “Don’t Take Your Joy Away,” (from the Whatcha Lookin’ 4 album… remember THAT?), Tamela Mann takes lead and does her part in pioneering the sound of soloists in contemporary gospel ensembles.  You’re gonna have to BRING it!

    I had completely disassociated Tamela Mann with this song (too much Tyler Perry I suppose). How easily we forget!! But the Family is so classic, and so is she. I love this album.

    Wow...I remember this album so well....Back then, I really couldn't appreciate the "message" behind the song...But ooohhhh now.....Don't take your joy away!

    Kirk was a little James Brown-esque at the end there when he didn't really remember the next words and the choir started sounding like they didn't either! LOLOL Nothing like "THE FAMILY"! Still the best. It's time for a reunion!
