So, my wifey and I checked out Tyler Perry’s new film “I Can Do Bad All By Myself,” this past weekend… really entertaining and fun. As most of you know, Pastor Marvin L. Winans has a role of a pastor in the movie. He’s a pretty good actor!
One song in the movie had me going in like I was at somebody’s worship service, for REAL… it’s a version of Winans’ hit single, “You Just Don’t Wanna Know,” with an added VAMP that… oh my! Who saw the movie?
Fortunately, somebody posted a video of Marvin Winans performing that same version on the Tyler Perry show recently… check it out and lemme know what you think (apologies for the audio/video quality):

Oh yeah that vamp took the whole theater in! Then when he brought Gladys up on stage and they start doing the "gospel trade-offs", was just great!
Hopefully this will spark more people to buy Pastor Marvin Winans "Alone But Not Alone" record! That record still remains to be a classic in my eyes! Should have won both a Stellar & Grammy award for it.
He has always been a favorite, just a classic timeless voice. Blows my mind everytime. I saw it last weekend and man the Lord was in the theatre for a minute b/c the spirit was everywhere. I go to see it with my mom this weekend and I'm kind of scared how she is going to react. I hope she don't catch the Holy Ghost in the theatre, not too loud - LOL! I'm debating whether to sit by her or not.
I didn't see the movie yet, but I saw Marvin on Tyler's show. Marvin Winans is in a league by himself. And yes, he should have won an award for his latest CD. Marvin teaches and preaches when he sings! Love the Brother!
i was determined to find the song by marvin winan on the internet. the song and the passion with which he belted it out really moved me and everyone in the theatre when i saw the movie last week. yes i laughed but i also cried. my son took me to see it and i asked him about the sound track which i am sure he will get me for my birthday in november. tyler perry's productions just keep getting better and better as if that is possible. we are so blessed by his artistic excellent.
The movie itself was inspirational and Pastor Winan was passionately unique. We are truly blessed to have this magnatude of talent in a time such as this.
