On TV: "Oh Happy Day" Concert On Gospel Music Channel

AWESOME!!!

Folks, I’m telling you now– tune in to Gospel Music Channel THIS Sunday at 8pm ET… they’re showing the concert film, Oh Happy Day.

In case you don’t know what it is, it’s a live concert featuring Walter Hawkins & The Hawkins Family, The Clark Sisters, Shirley Caesar, The Mighty Clouds Of Joy, and Rev. James Cleveland.

The original broadcast aired on PBS years ago, but kudos to GMC for the good gospel programming in celebration of Gospel Music Heritage Month.

Take THAT, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman!

You know, I caught this completely by accident last week after the How Sweet the Sound show; at first I wondered what in the world the GMC was airing. I missed the title and there was no info in the guide. It only took about 5 minutes of seeing the credits roll and noticing the litany of amazing gospel artist before I knew that no matter what it was I was going to watch. It was incredible. It was such a throw back to old-time, gospel. I knew when it started off with the Mighty Clouds and then I saw Miss Shirley it was definitely worth the watch. It did not disappoint.

I actually own this and it sister film(Gospel)on dvd. When I was young,it(Gospel)was shown at the theatres (though I don't remember it here in Lexington). My grandmother purchased the soundtrack on cassette and my little cousin(who is now 31)use to mimic Dorinda's speech prior to the Clark Sisters' "Name it,Claim it". Classic gospel at its best.
