Out & About: Studio Session With Ashmont Hill

My wife and I were fortunate enough to be invited to a great studio session in Nashville last night– gospel/CCM group Ashmont Hill was laying tracks for their upcoming album, which should be out in early 2010.

LEMME TELL YA– great songs, from what we heard.  The lyrics alone are insightful and refreshing (the imagery of one song, alone, was enough to almost take me OUT during the session).  Additionally, the music is relevant and excellently done.  Ashmont Hill is another one of those gap-bridging recording artists… I think we need to really embrace ‘em.

Special shout-out to producer Sal Oliveri for the invite and to the group for letting us crash.  We had a blast.

What do YOU GUYS know about Ashmont Hill?  If you’ve got their debut album, you know what I’m talking about.  If this is your first time hearing about them, it won’t be your last.

Check out their MySpace page and lemme know what you think: http://www.myspace.com/ashmonthill.

Ashmont Hill is one of my favorite groups out there. There praise and worship songs are so pure and anointed.I met them at a concert and they were really down to earth folks.I truly believe that whoever buys their music will be tremendously blessed.I can't wait til the new album drops in 2010, I'm pretty sure it it will be just as good if not better than their first album.

i simply love ashmont hill...i think their cd is one of the best surprises, musically, i've ever experienced. when i initially bought it, i really wasn't expecting too much, but let me say that i love every song on the set and listen to it on the regular...(and mind you i'm more of a traditionalist too...lol) if you don't have their cd, please be a blessing while you get blessed, and pick it up and add it to your collection. it will be a refreshing experience, i promise. be blessed.

I must say that I had not heard of this group but I just listened to them on myspace and I really like them. I love CCM music and I especially like the fact that they are African American which most CCM artists are not. I think I'll even go out and buy the album! Thanks for exposing me to them!
