Are you guys still watching Lexi’s show on The Word Network?
I know some folks have been boycotting the program since her chat with Tonex, but I think that what she’s doing is rather important– we get to hear directly from people about topics that would otherwise run rampant in the rumor mills. Her interviews remove the speculation and conjecture from much of what we merely hear in the media.
ANYWAY, her team wanted me to let you guys know about an upcoming interview that will, hopefully, clear some of the air about an issue that got a lot of media attention, in both gospel and mainstream… she’s interviewing Debra Winans, ex-wife of singer/songwriter BeBe Winans.

Folks, get ready for controversy in the Winans camp. Love or hate her, Don't y'all think that Lexi may be exposing sin in the camp?
I used to be a faithful watcher of the Lexi show -- Her show was always upbeat and uplifting -- but it's changed. I'm not really sure what the overall tone of her show is now or the message it's meant to convey -- If this is the path Lexi has chosen, I assume she'll be lining up the former wives of Pastors Jamaal Bryant, Zachery Timms and others to satisfy our itching ears. I think I'd agree with this more if Bebe were there to give his side. The Tonex interview was a "no more guessing, this is who I am" type thing...from his mouth. A "stop the rumors, here's the truth" type thing. I don't question her choice to do that interview. I don't agree with what he said, but I respect his option to choose and I now know where I stand with his ministry...thanks to the interview. But having Debra on there is just drama. I don't see the point of this at all. You still don't know whether to believe her side or not. If anything, this adds fuel to the "he said, she said" nature of the Bebe/Debra drama. With children old enough to understand, I can't believe she's even keeping this going by doing the interview. Won't be watching that at all...
while i respect anyone's right to share their story, i do question the timing. this incident happened how long ago? why now that a new project is out and not when it first happened? oh well...
I agree with EaZy -- Bebe & Cece appeared on Oprah 2 weeks ago and Debra Winans issued a statement to TMZ last week saying that she was disappointed that Oprah would allow Bebe to appear on her show -- I mean, come on, her kids father still has to earn a living. How is he supposed to earn a living and pay alimony / child support if she's blocking him???
I will be watching. This is an interesting time for this to come out. Bebe may get hurt by this. And for the record I think the lexi show is great. I support it 100%.
I have always been a Fan of Lexi.. Ive always watched her show and loved her as a person but I don't think I'll be watching her show anymore. I don't agree with her doing this interview with Debra Winans. I'm truely not saying this because I've been a Fan of Bebe's but because this is a woman who is out trying to destroy a career that Bebe Winans has build for years. I don't know what took place that day with her and Bebe but I do know it should have stayed between the two of them.It makes you think and question why is she talking about this on TV... The answer comes to mind is to make a name for herself and bring BeBe's name down at the same time. Lexi and the wordnetwork should really think hard about putting this interview out, it could really backfire on them...
Speaking of Be Be and I'm not trying to get off the subject, but Oprah let him on her show and he's up on domestic violence charges, yet she blasts Chris Brown and tarred and feathered him and crucified him and renounced the very same thing Be Be was doing. Are friends getting free passes because they are friends? Come on now, she should have also denounced Be Be also.
Gayle: The Rihanna situation is not the same as this "hot mess". Rihanna got a beat down -- We all saw the police pictures of Rihanna's face. Debra Winans was married to this man for 16 years and we never heard a peep out of her. (I didn't even know who she was.) All of a sudden, she gets divorced, is involved in a nasty custody dispute and the "abuse" allegations start -- Seems a little "suspect" to me. There seems to be 3 sides to this story: his, hers and 'DA TRUTH!!!
But Shari, You as a public figure like Oprah should not condoning someone's sin and not calling that indivisual on the carpet, yet you blast someone and not wanting that individual to appear on your show. This is called playing favorites. Then again, maybe the reason the ex-Mrs. Winans did not tell her story until then is I believe too often the gospel community want to sweep their sin instead of coming clean with what happened and truly repent of what they did. This is what wrong with Christian leadership and that includes the gospel music industry these days and that is no one don't want to be accountable or give account of what they are doing. Same with high profile pastors as well because they think they are above the law. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the gospel industry and the artists, but folks need to start to be accountable and not get these "free passes" just because you are a gospel artist and continue in that sin.
Debra Winans is bitter plain && simple..She been trying to drag Bebe Winans name through the mud since they been divorce..Bebe have moved on she should do the same instead of slandering him an trying to build a name for herself.I want be watching the Lexi show no more it seems a little bit too gossipy for me
She i really trying to tear him down. People are bad mouthing him all over the web. It just real bizarre. I don't feel that shes doing this for any good. They have been divorced for more than a couple of YEARS! Why now? She is extremely bitter. I'm not saying the abuse never happened but why all of a sudden now? She messy.
I agree she took so long to tell her story, but also he should have came out and admitted that he did or did not do it--that is all he needs to do instead of dragging it and waiting until the tabloids and TMZ get wind of this, talk to the person affected and it get out and he gets negative publicity. People need to admit their actions in a timely manner and not wait 6 months or a year to finally fess up before the accuser comes and give all these interviews.
After reviewing the comments, I've noticed that no one has mentioned about prayer for these two individuals. Merely comments, statements, accusations, and pointing of fingers. Remember Sin is Sin...there is no elevation of anything that we do in God's eyesight. What happened to restoration of souls, those that may have gone in a different path, but need to be restored to their rightful place. People of God, we must submit to God during this time and not look like Lot's wife, but be prayerful in all situations seen and unseen. My prayer is for healing, divine order and God's will in the lives of these two ADULTS, as well as, Lexi's show. We must continue to put people on the altar and remain prayerful and encouraging in all situations. What if it were you?
I really don't support this interview at all. Yes, we all have problems, and domestic violence does exist, we can not cover it. However, I feel the "Gospel" community should not be promoting "oprahesque" type interviews. We as Christians must not tap into the worldly way of doing things. Should we acknowledge it, yes...we should, but at the same time, we shouldn't glory in it. This is what is taking place right before our eyes. So ironic, it is when BeBe and CeCe have the come back album out there. This is what I can't stand. Let the courts decide what is right and wrong and go on the proper forum and discuss it. Not in this forum. If this is where "church" is going....I'M OUT!!!
I stand completely stand behind Lexi for doing her job! It's obvious that she's not concerned about what the church folk think and I applaud her for that. She getting stories out there and starting great dialouge amongst people. And also, we don't know if Bebe was asked to be part of this interview, but turned it down......we don't know. Debra has a right to tell her story and Lexi has a right to allow it to be told.
I like the show and i don't get why people have stopped watching just because she did the interview with Tonex. I was watching Lift Every Voice a while back and Rick Ross was up there talking about his beef with 50 cent and nobody throw a fit over that. And nobody has a fit or stops watching Praise the Lord on TBN when you have secular artist that do everything under the sun with everybody up there hosting. And no one said a word when Gerard Henery set down to talk to Bishop Thomas Weeks about his mess with Junita Bynum, so why stop watching Lexi? The only thing i don't agree with is having Bebe's ex-wife on the show she have just had Bebe or not even talk about the matter because is the one that is in the public eye not her.
In this country, a man has a presumption of innonence until proven guilty. If Debra had a strong case, she would wait and let the judge render his/her verdict, rather than using Lexi's show to find Bebe guilty in the court of church opinions. Shouldn't she be under a gag order until the case is resolved?
Well do we know if the case has been resolved? Maybe she is clear to talk about it.
Some folks are wondering why BeBe is not responding to all this scandal in the media. Well, I guess BeBe read somewhere that the Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace, and he probably read somewhere else that God is his help and the Lord shall sustain him, and that God will vindicate him and deliver him from all his troubles and that he will look upon his foes in triumph. Yep, I guess BeBe is applying what he has read. I am praying for BeBe and Debra!
The Lord tells us over and over again in his word to hold our peace. (Exodus 14:14). In a situation such as this, how we behave is actually what is on the inside of us. That is why the word tells us to work out our OWN salvation with fear and with trembling. We as believers should not be standing by with itching ears to see what really happened. We need to just come against the enemy right now and pray for both parties. Actually, the Lord is looking at all of us. Are we praying for the body of Christ holding each other up in prayer? We as believers need to Go ye into the world and preach the gospel and let the Lord use us in anyway he desires. (and in doing so, remember we are not perfect), but at the same time... there is too much work to be done in the kingdom to be focusing on this couple. Let the Lord continue to use BeBe in whatever way God sees fit. Remember God is in control he sees all and knows all. Let us all continue to keep a Kingdom mindset.... "because night time cometh when no man can work". John 9:4 God is upset because while the world is going to hell and souls are not being brought into the kingdom as they should and could be because the church is so busy competing with each other. We got more Christians wearing St. Johns instead of reading St. John. Now lets get back to spreading "The Good News". Remember, the gospel is the good news... not this particular situation going on. This is a distraction. Stay on your post.....its time for us to continue in prayer... and move on with the masters business. (Love never fail).
Yes, Christians need to pray for them. But Christians need to do more than " pray", but also speak out on issues like this and call out people and let them know that they are wrong. Christians who are high profile should possess a higher standard of living , that also includes not shoving your wives in public nor abusing your wives. If that's the case, Be Be needs to step down from public ministry, get counseling from a pastor and make sure that he work his issues out before performing in public again. And by the way, his freind Oprah finally took a stand and let Be Be know that he is not welcomed either. She finally saw the light that if Chris Brown cannot appear on his show, the same should be for BeBe until hs can get his personal life together.
Ephesians 3:29 says "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, "that it may minister grace unto the hearers". And Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamour and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, FORGIVING ONE ANOTHER, even as GOD for CHRIST's sake has FORGIVEN you. The first statement I saw posted on this site stated and I quote: "Folks, get ready for controversy in the Winans Camp Love or hate her don't you all think that Lexi may be exposing sin in the camp". That could have easily been interpreted to mean folks get your popcorn and soda ready so we can all grab a seat and listen to this hot juicy news. (drama) When God gives us a platform whether it be for radio, television or any other type of media, as Christians we need to take heed to how we use that. It is to promote the name of JESUS and to give HIM GLORY. I am not trying to drag this out... but holiness is right and we as Christians need to watch our tongue. I am just keeping it real. We got over 12 folks who just got shot down in Texas and we think prayer is not enough. The Lord God Almighty told us to pray. He states over and over again that he will vindicate us and that vengeance is his and he will repay. He did not tell us to go out and expose folks. As far as high profile... if anyone knows that you are a christian, you too are High Profile meaning... people are watching you. You don't need a record label.. just proclaim the name of JESUS and you have an audience unless you are a secret agent christian. God already knows. As far as folks doing wrong, God can even see through a peep hole. This is not the time and hour to shoot the soliders in our camp. Christians have a tendency to shoot their wounded. Have we truly heard that new song entitled, "Grace" by BeBe and CeCe. Do we really know, believe and understand what it means? Believe me the devil is laughing.. he is enjoying this topic. I know that the secular world is talking about this situation....but the real negativity is coming from the blood bought church. The same people we hug on Sunday mornings. People posting negative comments on the internet this is wrong. But its certainly not right to do our blood bought brother like this. BeBe is God's son and the Lord is looking at us in heaven like what are my children doing. None of us have arrived. Ecclesiastes 12:13 and 14 says, Let us Hear The Conclusion of the Whole Matter..... As far as why Oprah put a hold on this I do not have the answer for that. God is so funny though, when this is all over the Lord can vindicate BeBe and give him his OWN show and still have him on Oprah. You know, God is funny like that. Lets just please keep BeBe and Debra and their children in our prayers. Remember prayer changes things. God will make it right. (Love Never Fails)
People, don't get me wrong, I love Be Be Winans, and I do pray for the best for him. I pray that he does step down from ministry for a while and get wise counsel from a pastor who is bibically equipped to counsel him wisely, and work though his anger management issues if he has them. I do believe that we need to pray for people. But we also need to pray that Christians, especially high profile need to get it right with the Lord and live lives with no compromise. Maybe Lexi's motives may be wrong with some Christians, but sometimes we need to listen to other points of view and use some discernment when we don't agree. Also, we need to pray for these people also. I'm not trying to drag this out neither, but I just have a difference of opinion on here.
Only Debra and Bebe know what really happened and only God knows which one is telling the truth. I think it's wrong to choose a side without knowing anything definitively. Who is anyone to say what either of them needs to do. If anything, WE ALL need to mind OUR business before we end up needing to put a foot in our mouths... Folks who know nothing shouldn't talk like they know everything... Besides, just because either of them gets on TV making a statement doesn't mean that what they say is the truth! So the point of this interview is what exactly?? You still come away from it knowing nothing for sure...
To my dearest bretheren and sisteren What I must say is that I enjoy her show, because she is bold. She is not timid in being afraid to speak clearly and directly into ones eyes and face. She doesn't appear to stir but gives the opportunity to make it right. Clean it up Lexi, I believe that she rids confusion with opportunity and directness. I also believe that she does present herself and displays her character as a woman of integrity and so I support her whole heartedly. She is uniquely made and so are you. My question to the nay sayers is how do you suppose you think Kingdom if we are to be duplicates of one another. I believe that truth comes in the most authentic packages and we have lost concept of truth, boldness and righteousness. It is this type of thinking that deters the world that they have to be duplicates of people instead of Christ. The bible is not a book for amatuers. There are a number of questions that Lexi has asked guest that I would have wanted to question myself through mouth or thought. Truth will cleanse on every angle, whether it's my friend or myself. Does her questions stop you from listening to what is being said about any individual for that matter. I appreciate her and respect the job that she does. And let us not forget it is a television show when you first started watching her and it's still a television show now. Blessings to all of us and may we grow together.
Bebe Winans was cleared of all charges. Chris Brown plead guilty to his charges. There is a difference. I feel that Debra Winans is bitter and using the domestic violence card to her benefit which angers me as a woman. Lexi should stay away from this unless she plans to have BeBe tell his side, which he is not going to do because he refuses to lower himself. This is messy media and not uplifting at all. I don't watch her show at all and only viewed the Tonex interview via youtube. I think we as Christians should have a higher standard than this.
She, the ex wife, is stating in one breath, she is a christian and in another breath, she is gossipping about her personal life. If she loves God so, she would follow His word. That is what is wrong with females today. They want to walk in front of their husband instead of beside. They make the husband or want the husband to be a co pastor, co anchor to their career. The only career that a married women should have is raising her children in the admonition of the Lord and being prayerful & supportive of her husband. She is a bitter, in your face, want to be noticed, scorned ex wife. She needs to get on her knees and stay in the word. I am a married mother and my role was defined to me by Jesus,not by me. The word defines who I am and whose I am.
BeBe was cleared of all charges, right? It is obvious that his ex-wife is using her name (Winans) just to sell books. I can see right through that woman. To all the men that may date Debra: I would never trust that woman. She is using her ex-husbands fame to sell her pitiful book that noone is going to buy.
