The Allstate Gospel Superfest is preparing to tape a new season of their successful program of live gospel performances. Hosted by Flex Alexander and Vivica Fox, the concert will take place on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the Cintas Center (Xavier University) in Cincinnati, OH.
The anticipated artist line-up is star-studded, as always, including Karen Clark-Sheard, Vickie Winans, Hezekiah Walker, DeWayne Woods, J Moss, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Ricky Dillard, Kierra Sheard and many others. Should be good.
Last season, episodes of the program aired on Gospel Music Channel… hopefully, they’ll pick it up again.

THIS KINDA TRASH IS THE REASON RITE NOW WHY GOSPEL MUSIC IS IN THE STATE IT IS IN. WHY DO "GOSPEL" SINGERS FEEL THE NEED TO BE STARS! WHY DO THEY NEED TO BE LIKE UNTO SUPERSTARS OF THIS WORLD! AND WHY WOULD YOU HAVE A "GOSPEL" EVENT HOSTED BY STRAIT UP SINNERS???? IM SO SICK OF THE COMPROMISE INVOVLED IN "GOSPEL" MUSIC IF YOU CAN CALL IT THAT. MOST OF EM HAVE TAKEN OUT ANY REFERENCE TO GOD OR CHRIST AND SETTLE FOR HE,HIM,HIS, ETC. IF YOU ASK ME IT SHOULD BE NAMED GOSPEL SUPERFOOLS!!
Wow...As for gospel artists feeling the need to be stars--the artists aren't referring to themselves as stars, whomever wrote the blurb is. ..."hosted by strait (aka) straight up sinners.." Haven't we all sinned, I mean, really? With regard to removing the reference to God or Christ, I understand your sentiment and respect it but i'm not sure if "most" gospel artists have done this. Finally, "superfools"--just a mean things to say!
IT AINT ALL ABOUT WHAT THEY REFER TO THEMSELVES AS, ITS HOW THEY ACT AND THE THINGS THEY DO. AND YES WE ALL HAVE SINNED BUT ITS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BEING A SAVED SINNER(WHO REPENTS AND TURNS FROM WICKED WAYS) AND A UNREPENTANT DO WHAT I WANNA DO SINNER! AND YES A GREAT NUMBER OF THEM HAVE MOVED INTO "INSPIRATIONAL" MUSIC WHICH HAS MOSTLY NO REFERENCES TO JESUS OR GOD SO THEY CAN DRAW A BIGGER FANBASE! NOT TO WITNESS NO GOSPEL! PEOPLE REFUSE TO SEE THINGS FOR WHAT THEY REALLY ARE! JUST ABOUT ALL OF YOUR GOSPEL SUPPOSED TO BE SAVED FOLKS HAVE JUMP HEAD FIRST INTO COMPROMISE! YOU CANT SERVE TWO MASTERS! YOU CANT HAVE GOD AND THE WORLD! AND THE "GOSPEL" INDUSTRY AINT NOTHIN BUT THE REGULAR INDUSTRY CUZ THEY RAN BY THE SAME PEOPLE! THATS WHY SO MUCH "GOSPEL" SOUND JUS LIKE THE WORLD NOWADAYS! ALOT OF THESE PEOPLE THINK THEY DOIN THE WILL OF GOD BUT SADLY THEY NOT, CAUSE HE NOT GETTIN NO GLORY OUT OF THIS KINDA TRASH!! @SB-- I agree. And I'd probably add the fact that being a "gospel star" isn't sinful. Perhaps ASPIRING to BE a star brings into question one's prideful motives, but some ministers of the gospel-- whether in music (like CeCe Winans) or in message (like TD Jakes)-- became famous by doing what they were doing with, I would posit, an honest intention. Can't fault someone who was elevated, by others, to that platform.

@ EJ--I agree with what you've said...woohoo! @ No Compromisin--I can see that we have different viewpoints on some things. Specifically, you must have really good eyes and/or judgment if you can tell the unrepentant from the repentant sinners. Honestly, I don't know what most people are coming to do or what their motives are when they attend a gospel event. I can only be optimistic that Jesus is the forefront. Finally, you are correct--Jesus is the only star!! :)
Thats like someone saying I ain't going to church cause everyone in church ain't saved; isn't that a known fact? I don't go to church to worry about who is and who ain't living right I go to feed "my" soul and hear what thus saith The Lord! The gospel is simply preached and it is up to the hearer to heed the message (whether in church or in a gospel concert) and give his life to Christ. What bothers me are saved people who think that anything and anyone dealing with God has to be poor or small in order for it to be right. We should be doing big things for the Lord and lifting up his Holy name on a large scale OUR FATHER IS THE KING OF THE UNIVERSE! Let your light so shine that men might see your good work and glorify your Father which is in heaven. As long as God is getting the glory out of what we do then we should do it!
Gospel Superfest use to be good but know it has just fallin off. They keep having the same artist that keep singing the same songs. I'll pass on this

@NO COMPROMISIN With all due respect, and in the spirit of grace, I would encourage you to be careful before pulling away from the organized church. No matter what version of the Bible you read, Hebrews 10:25 warns us not to forsake gathering together with fellow Christians, but to continue to meet together in worship to exhort and encourage each other. After reading your responses, I'm truly sorry that you've had the experiences you've had in the church and for the things you believe you've seen among Gospel artists. My prayer for you is for peace and healing, insight and revelation and above all a greater sense of love---God's revealed love toward you that will manifest in your grace and mercy for others. It's important stuff.
@SYDNEY- I WAS MORE THAN POSITIVE THAT SOMEONE WOULD BRING THAT SCRIPTURE UP, NO WHERE IN THE BIBLE DOES IT TELL ME THAT I HAVE TO FELLOWSHIP WITH FELLOW BELIEVERS IN A CHURCH BUILDING! THATS SOMETHING THAT MAN IMPLEMENTED. IN NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM WILL I FORSAKE FELLOWSHIP WITH MY BRETHEREN AND SISTERS, I JUST REALIZE AND UNDERSTAND THAT I DONT HAVE TO BE IN A CHURCH BUILDING TO DO THAT. oh sorry bout the caps, forgot. but why do you feel i need in sight and revelation and greater love? how do you know that the holy spirit hasnt already given me insight and revelation on the industry as well as church and many other things?? to me that is a pure example of people who are slaves to religion and tradition. anything that is thought to be against what is the norm that persons salvation and relationship with GOD must be questioned. i actually pray that the lord will give not only you, but everyone that supports all the stuff that does not glorify god more revelation and insight! and i definitely need more love!dont we all? that has nothing to do with what i know to be the truth tho
oh yeah and heb 10:12-not forsaking our own assembling together AS IS THE HABIT OF SOME, but ENCOURAGING one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near

@No compromisin- And who are you to say that these gospel artists aren't doing things big for God? Has God given you an insight into each of their hearts?? Have you any idea of the number of people that have come to Christ at a gospel concert? A tree is known by the fruit it bears!
