In Stores: Tonex Sells & Licenses His Beats For Your Use

Tonex has created a bunch of tracks for you to lease or own exclusively.  And they’re AFFORDABLE– $50 will allow you to use the track, $1,000 will get you the exclusive use of it.

Visit his page on SoundClick.com to listen to snippets of ‘em and to make a purchase.

Interesting to consider what this means for the gospel industry, too.  I can just see it now– I’ll be getting press releases from aspiring artists claiming to have a full album “produced by Tonex,” when in actuality, they’ve never met him and have merely sent $50 to a PayPal account that he owns.

I’m not mad at Tonex for that, but I’m already annoyed by the legions of fronting artists with over-hyped products that are about to email me. :-\

What do you think, folks?  Do you think it’s a good trend for the industry?

Well Tonex's music is definitely incredible. I often wonder what he's thinking about before he creates a track. This could be a cheaper way and it might save time. Although it would be nice to at least meet Tonex and have his input versus just singing or rapping over his tracks. I think he should approve it. People make so much poor music nowadays which can actually make you as the producer look bad. You have to ask yourself would you really want your name attached to that? He is receiving a profit from it so i can't knock him for that. This is nothing new its been going on for quite some time. Its just like how some of the artist do duets but never meet until the actual live performance. As far as a good trend maybe it could go somewhere however i believe it should be approved by the producers themselves but that is gonna a turn into something else major. So my decision might be half and half.

My initial thought that it could raise the bar on production quality (at least) and the idea of enhancing the accessibility of top artists such as Tonex is far from a "bad thing"!

Well, this is a good business move for Tonex...I am not sure how he would feel if someone used a track and sounded a hot mess? :-0

if Tonex produces your track and you STILL sound a hot mess...I don't think people would blame Tonex...lol

Hope he papers these deals in advance and correctly or it could be a nightmare for song splits and royalty payments, not to mention producer royalties.

It can be a good or bad thing. Whose to say that somebody won't use the track for evil intentions? I wouldn't want my name attached to anything that would be displeasing and that's what will happen especially to those who won't be aware of this venture.

Why any GOSPEL artist would in any shape, form or fashion would want to be associated with a UNREPENTED homosexual, boggles my mind. Why give this guy free press on your site?

@LT The same way many of us may have to work with them on a day to day basis...And they're probably the ones that give us our paycheck but we take it and cash it anyway...right?!
