In The News: 2010 BMI Trailblazers Honorees Announced

BMI has announced the recipients of its 2010 Trailblazers AwardsDonnie McClurkin and Andraé Crouch.

Donnie McClurkin & Andrae Crouch

They will be honored at the organization’s 11th annual awards luncheon on Friday, January 15, 2010, during Stellar Awards weekend.  The luncheon has become one of THE most exciting events of the weekend (even more, some say, than the Stellar Awards taping itself) and its invite-only guest list has folks more than anxious to attend.

No word yet on the artists that will offer tribute performances, but… c’mon.  With the repertoires of Donnie McClurkin and Andraé Crouch, there’s plenty of great music to create an incredible performance set.

Who would YOU love to see covering some McClurkin or Crouch tunes?

I would like to see Tamela Mann, Tuneisha Crispell and Melonie Daniels, Crystal Rucker beautify these classics (They are already beautiful classics). These women have been around in the gospel industry for a while and I believe we need to hear a greater level of power in the GOSPEL Movement. Giving them this opportunity to showcase their anointing through Donnie and Andrae classics would be awesome and would definately change the way we minister!!!! Congrats Donnie and Andrae!!!

Good stuff! I'd like to see Marvin Winans, Kim Burrell, and maybe Byron Cage work out Andrae's songs; And to add to Ryan's choice of Micah Stampley, I'll say Claude Deuce and Smokie Norful

Congrats to Donnie and Andrae! I would like to see Kim Burrell and Karen Clark Sheard and Fred Hammond do remixes of their songs. It would be awesome especially Kim because no one has a ear like hers. It would be a sure treat!

I would love to see Earnest Pugh do some Donnie McClurkin stuff! How about Larnelle Harris doing some Andrae Crouch material, he has so many songs that he done by Andrae. Would also like to possibly see Israel Houghton doing some Andrae as well. Israel has My Tribute (TO GOD BE THE GLORY) on his latest CD, I think its on a medley--the last cut on that CD (the power of one). Israel has stated Andrae to be one of his biggest inspirations. Hey y'all, what About Alvin Slaughter doing some Andrae stuff? Holla! lol

Kevin LeVar would probably rip a Donnie tune. I'd love to see that. Or even and Andrae Crouch tune. What about Dontavius Boatright singing one of the Andra Crouch hits... remember from Sunday Best???
