In The News: NAACP Image Awards' Gospel Nominees

The nominations for the NAACP’s 41st annual Image Awards were announced today.  The organization recognizes the contributions of African-Americans in a variety of fields, including gospel music.  The nominees for “Outstanding Gospel Album (Traditional Or Contemporary)” are:

Donnie McClurkinWe All Are One
Shirley CaesarA City Called Heaven
Fred HammondLove Unstoppable
BeBe & CeCe WinansStill
Vickie WinansHow I Got Over

My money’s on BeBe & CeCe because their reunion project was so highly anticipated and mainstream audiences know them REALLY well.  Plus, the album’s good.  In any event, I think each of the nominees deserve their nods.

I’m SLIGHTLY miffed that Donald Lawrence didn’t get recognized, but I’ll be okay…

And before you get all up in arms about why Mary Mary isn’t nominated for Outstanding Album, they were nominated (and won) last year.  Aaaaand, THIS YEAR, they got a nod for “God In Me” in the Outstanding Song category!  Cool, huh?

To see a full list of nominees, click here.  The awards show airs LIVE on Friday, February 26th on FOX at 8pm ET/7pm CST.  Tune in!

What do you think of the nods???

Now all that needs to happen is for BeBe & CeCe Winans to take to the stage at the show. I hope they choose them to perform on the show being that they will be there.
