Gospel Artists Nominated In Non-Gospel Categories:
I was 3 for 3 in these predictions!!!
Tonex was nominated for Best Urban/Alternative Performance for his single “Blend” (Unspoken), but as I predicted, it went to India.Arie.
Ann Nesby’s “Sow Love” (The Lula Lee Project) was nominated in Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance. As I predicted, it went to Beyonce for “At Last.”
Robert Randolph & The Clark Sisters were nominated in the Best R&B Performance By Group/Duo with Vocals category for their performance of “Higher Ground” (Oh Happy Day), as were Ann Nesby & Calvin Richardson, but as I predicted, it went to Jamie Foxx and T-Pain for “Blame It.”
That’s the full deal, folks! What do you think of the winners list???

Heather Headley? Even though you predicted it, I'm still in shock.
All of these above mentioned people deserved the awards, including Mary Mary. I'm very happy too that Jason Crabb won. He's an awesome man of God.
EJ...You did pretty good in your predictions...but I am happy you were wrong with The Best Gospel Performance(LOL)....Congratulations to Donnie & Karen!!!
I'm so glad for Pastor Donnie McClurkin and Karen Clark-Sheard. One of the finest collaborations I've heard in gospel music. Nobody was more deserving. Congratulations to Mary Mary for "God In Me". It's unfortunate that Kierra is not able to share in the accolade. :-/ No comment on Heather Headley. Mmm...yeah, no comment.
I'm happy for Israel. That was actually somewhat unexpected. I thought Jeremy Camp or Jars of Clay would win.
FINALLY the Grammy voters got it right! Yay to Israel Houghton! And EJ: congrats on your almost perfect predictions!
@ keisha. Kierra does infact share that grammy with them according to industry standards. I wonder how many times before a mother and daughter both get grammys for collaborations in the same night?
@All-- To clarify... The "Best Gospel Song" award is given exclusively to the writers of that song. In this instance, Kierra Sheard does NOT receive a Grammy for her performance on "God In Me." She didn't write the song. The only people who won a Grammy tonight for "God In Me" are Warryn Campbell, Erica Campbell and Tina Campbell.
I hope and pray that all the Gospel artists got to tell the non-believers that they need Jesus.
YES LORD, Donnie and Karen deserve that Grammy. Also, proud Kierra got her 1st Grammy for being feat. on God In Me. Just a little disappointed she didn't win best R&B gospel album. Thought her album was fiya. Anyway, congratulations to the winners.
To Mike "The Messenger": why would the gospel artists tell the non-believers such a thing? They (the gospel artists) don't seem to need Jesus, either.... (Gasp! Did I say that out loud? LOLLLL!)
My favorite is still Triumphant "Everyday"-- These men are such men of God and sing , feel and live with such emotion and enthusiasm for the good things in life. I am glad to see this category be acknowledged. We all need so much more of this in our lives
Yes, The Power Of One !!!!!
@ Tam Tam, because the non believers need Jesus even worse than the believers. This is their mission field, whether you know it or not.
Congrads to Donnie, Karen! Israel got the Grammy for his album!
I am happy for all those who won, just amazed at how they were recognized for a Grammy but not a Stellar...
@ Gayle: and when these so-called "believers" look and sound more like the non-believers to the point of AMBIGUITY, the gospel message is LOST. And let me be VERY CLEAR: I will NEVER buy into the argument of looking and sounding secular in order to "minister to the lost". That's a cop-out and a poor way to okey-doke the Lord. I will continue to beat this drum: REAL, GOOD, HOLY-SPIRIT LED MUSIC draws people to Jesus. Not skin-tight clothes, worldly music samples, or "collaborations". I like to (and do) look good, wear fashionable clothes, etc. But I'm not making an excuse that I'm doing all that to win souls. My "mission" field is academia (college professor) and that's almost worse than entertainment in terms of the anti-Christ atmosphere.
Heather Headley!? *blank stare* Her noticeable accent while she sings has ALWAYS been a distraction for me. Don't get that win at all. But, EJ predicted it...I guess I should've been prepared but I wasn't, lol. Not at all...
Yeah Gale! I agree! I was soooo happy to see Jason Crabb (he's my fav Crabb--I love their family) win I couldn't stand it! I'm here in NC and their from Kentucky/Tennessee areas. My aunt knows their fam and I used to see him around here when I was little. My aunt is that kind of southern aunt that knows evvvvveryyyyyboddddy! hahaha! Anyway, it was good to see him and Donnie and Karen and Isreal win! I say congrats to all of them! I'm so Godly proud of them!
@ Tam Tam, I'm not gonna go on your level because your comments here are very divisive . I'm saying this in love that is please do not judge other people's walk in here just because people don't agree with you. That is all and other members of the board ask.
Wowwwww, Gayle.... Divisive? Seriously? It would help me for you to qualify the exact wording that you consider divisive. And it would also help me if you would select the EXACT WORDING of my post that you consider judgmental. I'm all for conversation with a diversity of opinions but to RUN from the conversation with the veil of "I'm saying this in love". Just letting you know I see the okey-doke in action. And I say that directly to you in TRUTH. Deuces.
@Tam Tam and @Gayle....Let us see what Jesus says.....Ezekiel 22: starting at verse 26....Her priests do violence to my law and profane My holy things; they DO NOT distinguish between the clean and the unclean...
@ Tam Tam and @ Gayle....I wrote it down and left out a part.....Let me try again....Ezekiel 22: starting at verse 26: Her priests do violence to My law, and profane My holy things; they DO NOT distinguish between the holy and the common; they teach that there is NO DIFFERNCE between the unclean and the clean....
Okay, I'ma say this REAL quick before things get out of hand. This post is about the Grammys and the winners of them. The MOMENT it starts to take a different tone, I'm closing comments and blockin' comments. The level of combativeness around here lately is getting ridiculous. And I'm just soooo not in the mood. Play nice or be quiet. Those are the options. Period.
@EJ.....I am just quoting scripture. The Word Of Jesus cuts like a two-edged sword. This verse is all about the Grammy's.
@mikethemessenger-- This verse is not all about the Grammys because the Grammys didn't exist when the Scripture was written. Your interpretation and application of this verse is, in your opinion, all about the Grammys. But that's not an absolute... it's subjective. I will reiterate my initial point-- if/when this discussion moves from having a conversation about the Grammys, and the winners of the awards, I will be blocking comments and closing discussion here.
Isaiah fortold about the coming of Jesus hundreds of years before He came. Many things were fortold hundreds of years before they existed. There is no difference between the clean and the unclean at the Grammy's. It is an "anything goes" mentality. What is more important in the Kingdom Of Jesus...winning a Grammy Award or winning another soul to Jesus.
Peace All: II Timothy 3:15-17 - And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. ALL SCRIPTURE is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. The Gospel Industry Machine Needs A God - Check. The Lord is not pleased!
@EJ Are you sure Kierra does not get a grammy? I hope she gets one because she think's she won. She is talking about it on her facbook.
YAY Israel! That's my boy! I love to see people who have a sincere heart prosper, whoo hoo! I just wish 'Every Prayer' had won, I'm soo over 'God In Me'.
..and just to fend off potential blows, I'm not saying that the Marys don't have a sincere heart...just that I could a go little while before I hear that song again, that's all! : )
@ The Deacon.....YES, AND AMEN!!!!
I love all the winners, especially Karen winning another Grammy!
@ Michael Jenkins--me too me too!!!
