By now, I’m REALLY hoping you guys own Resting On His Promise, the latest album from JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise. If not, tarry no longer– click here
to go’n and make your purchase. LOL
JJ reached out to me to let me know that they’ve selected their second single– “Lord, You’re Mighty.” The track hasn’t even hit radio yet, but I think it’s an awesome choice. The song, featuring lead vocals from Deon Kipping, is a great rock-infused worship chant, simply and catchy… and POWERFUL.
For your listening pleasure, JJ is allowing me to add it to the PunditPlayer before the radio edit even hits the airwaves! You heard it here first… click here to listen.
And make sure you let me (and JJ) know what you think about it by leaving a comment right here!

It's awesome that you all thought of something lie this especially before it airs on the radio.. I like it keep up the Faith and Good work.
I disagree. I believe "Awesome Wonder" shouldve been the 2nd Single
WOW; A few weeks ago I previewed about 30 seconds of this track on iTunes, and almost immediately knew I had to have it! Such a powerful worship song, and what's more - easy to learn (lyrics sound parallel to the popular 'old school' church anthem, "What A Mighty God We Serve")! Definitely a must-have addition to the repertoire of any Praise and Worship service! God Bless :)
It's about time!!! I love this song. Great choice.
i taught this to my praise team a few months back. congregation definitely loves it. simple p&w song.
I love the entire cd! Lord you're mighty is definately hot. But I tell you I agree with Jason, Awesome Wonder is beautiful. I'm teaching my choir that very soon.
I have to purchase the CD and I love this single. Great song!
didn't someone else release Awesome Wonder as a single? Why do i feel like i've heard that song before?
oh and by the way, i was a little surprised Powerful God wasn't the 2nd single. But maybe it'll be the 3rd? dont know.
@ a. will, yes this is a remake. The guy who wrote "Awesome Wonder" recorded it. I don't remember his name check your cd cover. I believe his version is on youtube as well. Troy Bright did a great job on the libs. 2 thumbs up!
Well, I knew the 2nd single would one of the 2. Powerful God or Lord You're Mighty. Both are wonderful songs, all vocalists were awesome. The composer for Awesome Wonder is Trent Cory, dude whose first name could be his last, and vice-versa. That's an awesome song but may not enough radio play unless they edit to less than 5 minutes.
'Close to You' takes me in every time! I love it!
THAT'S IT...Trent Cory. Thanks. I knew i'd heard that song before. And yes, JJ doesn't seem to think RADIO in his writing format. (Let me explain that before people jump on me) I'm just saying that 6-7min songs are extremely long for radio. He doesn't have any 3-4min songs on this record. But i guess when you record live albums, its hard to shorten a song when its feeling good to you in the moment.
It should have been the FIRST single...
@ Honestly... I HONESTLY agree with you! And Awesome Wonder should have been the 2nd single. When I first heard 'Lord, You're Mighty', I listened to it for AT LEAST an hour! Then, I got the CD off iTunes and listened to it for DAYS, LOL. That song just takes me in... Those two songs alone were worth the entire cost of the CD for me. Seriously. All the other good songs were a bonus, lol...
I just listened to the version in the Pundit Player and UGH! Where's the climb to the build up????????? My edit would've sounded more like this: Super short 'Lord, You're Mighty' chant intro (like repeat 1x short), JJ & Deon verse, shortened JJ & Deon 'what a mighty God part', Choir verse, Choir 'what a mighty God', Deon's Hallelujah part & 'what a mighty God' part, start with the high 'Lord, You're mighty' part, and leave the rest the same and let radio fade it out if they move their finger to cut it, lol. Put some mo' build in there producers!!! Pretty please??? Don't do this to the song!!!!!
@v4c LOL... yeah, i could've done without the repetitive "lord, you're mighty" in the beginning. Once would've sufficed. That minute could've been better used. (don't u just love how us saints aint NEVER satisfied? LOL)
@ me - LMBO! Never! But if I would've heard this version of the song on the radio first, it just wouldn't have had the same effect on me. And this song is TOO GOOD not to do well on radio...
I luv it!!! I'm YP biggest fan ever!!!
@v4c, I felt like they should have made it the single when I first heard it at their recording. I was SHOCKED when they used "Resting On His Promise" for the single... Yeah guys, don't mess up the single by taking out the best parts yall...come on now...LOL
"Super short ‘Lord, You’re Mighty’ chant intro (like repeat 1x short), JJ & Deon verse, shortened JJ & Deon ‘what a mighty God part’, Choir verse, Choir ‘what a mighty God’, Deon’s Hallelujah part & ‘what a mighty God’ part, start with the high ‘Lord, You’re mighty’ part, and leave the rest the same and let radio fade it out if they move their finger to cut it, lol." LOL@ v4c. go 'head on and break it down for the people...
LOL @ EaZy! I figured if I typed it out JJ n'em would see it and steal the idea! I want radio land to LOVE this song like I do...
LOL @ "JJ n'em". honestly, i don't think i've ever heard the song but just because you put all the effort into it, i'm going to download and listen to it. legally, of course...
EaZY, now I know that many gospel artists have been slacking recently (content, depth, etc.), but this CD is really nice. It deserved more attention than it got and I'm almost certain it lacked hype because they released the wrong song as the single. This song has one of the best builds (musically, lyrically...simple yet meaty) I've heard in a minute...which is why it SUCKS that they totally cut it out of the song. Tell me what you think of it once you hear the whole song...
ok, v4c - you got me. i'm digging the song and can totally see it growing on me. of course i had your "recommendations" pulled up as i was listening to it, lol. i agree with you that the reptitive "Lord, You're Mighty" in the beginning. it's hard to judge an album by 30 second snippets. any other recommendations? or should i just buy the whole thing...
@a.will I hear you on the reduction of the songs. However don't you think a radio edit is good to go out just to the radio stations? I have to say I love my longer versions on my mp3 player. Has anyone listened to Dorinda's song on there?
@ EaZy - GREAT! :-) I would buy the whole thing. It's not a classic or anything but it's really good and worth the investment/sacrifice. My favorite thing about it is that it's Praise Team/Choir friendly...meaning I can actually teach this stuff and it will sound decent. If you can't afford it, at least purchase Close to You, Awesome Wonder, Still Mighty...uh oh, drawing a blank on my others favs, lol. But those four, including the one you already purchased, stand out to me on that album.
let me say i really love youthful praise having been raised in bridgeport ct i always knew that they would come out with a cd.because they are anointed.to do so.T.F.T. THE CHRUCH THEY ARE FROM WAS ALWAYS A GREAT PLACE OF PRAISE AND WORSHIP UNTO THE KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. as far as lord your mighty i really believe this song should have been the frist single out.i mean the whole thing is a bomb straight from the throne room of God WOO .its simple and simply one of the most powerful songs of the year. I URGE EVERYONE TO BEG YOUR LOCAL GOSPEL RADIO STATION TO PLAY THIS SONG YEA ITS LONG BUT THE IMPACT AND WORK IT WILL DO WILL BE WELL WORTH THE LISTEN.
