Goodies: Jason Nelson On A Quick Hymn

It’s no secret that Jason Nelson is one of my favorite vocalists… like… on Earth.  Even he knows it… I think.

He just has one of those naturally warm tones.  His delivery is confident and in-the-pocket.  He’s a REAL singer… he doesn’t rely on his tricks (though he’s got a BUNCH of ‘em–with precision– up his sleeve).  My dad might call him a “crooner,” reminiscent of gritty-and-great vocalists like Sam Cooke and David Ruffin.

More than that, though, he’s a dude who just CLEARLY loves him some Jesus.

OKAY.  Now that I’ve finished by “Jason Nelson For President” campaign, watch this video of him singing “The Old Rugged Cross”:

PuhLEASE, tell me what you think of THAT!

Wow...what a gift! This man has the ability to shift an atmosphere like few I've ever seen. I remember the very first time I heard him. It was at the Gospel Today conference/live recording at New Birth Cathedral, back in 2004/2005. He sang "Lord I Kiss Your Presence"...and I was simply transfixed. To this day, my wife still talks about how blown away I was that night! Who was this unassuming guy from Baltimore, Maryland...and how did God do THAT for him? Over the years, I've had a chance to hear him many times, and I am always blessed and amazed by the spirit of this man. Thank God for Jason Nelson.

EJ, you are NOT alone! Vocally, he can do no wrong in my eyes. If I think about his lead on 'Everything, You Are' too long, I just puddle up...my favorite run is on the word 'breathe'. Lawd... *pulling up Know it's All Right on my computer now* LOL

His vocals are AMAZING!!! I have never heard anyone sing a hymn (one of my favorite hymns) like that. He is also one of my favorite vocalist. I think he is incredibly underrated in the industry. Check him out on the song "Everything You Are" . Just be prepared to raise your hands in praise. CAUTION: DO NOT drive when you're listening to this song.

I never heard of him,he sounds a lot like Fred Hammond, he has a smooth voice.

@Michael Jenkins-- he's the twin brother of gospel artist Jonathan Nelson, too. You'd probably like his stuff!

EJ!!! You are my brotha for real man!!! Pastor....Jason....Nelson is one of THE BEST people on earth...period. This man and his wife are really cool and down-to-earth people with such an amazing heart for God and people. Anointed...anointed...and more anointed! My Pastor (Greg Bruce of Hope Church St. Louis) describes the anointing as "the power, presence and ability of God to do what one cannot do in his or her own ability." Jason Nelson is talented (can play and sing skillfully), gifted (rare ability on a talent) and anointed! There is a time and a season for everything. I know Pastor Jason is moving in God's timing and God will open up many more opportunities for him. Let's keep him lifted in prayer as well. He is a mighty vessel for God and I'm sure the enemy is terrified of Jason's advancements in the Kingdom of God. Thanks again bruh for this post!!! U rock dude!!!
