Just In: Marvin Sapp Sells Over 75,000 Units

JUST IN!!!

Marvin Sapp’s new album, Here I Am, has moved over 75,000 units in its debut week, according to SoundScan reports.  This staggering number, of course, places him at #1 on Billboard’s Gospel and Christian charts.

Moreoever, word has it that he’s landed at #2 on the Billboard 200!!!

I’ll post full chart details tomorrow morning, as usual, but I wanted to send this out a bit early.

Major major major CONGRATS to Marvin Sapp and the team at Verity Gospel Music Group for such a tremendous street week!

that's cool but i must admit, the fact that 75k puts you at #2 on the Billboard 200 charts is kind of sad. i know the industry has taken a big hit over the decade but wow... on the flip, 75k for gospel is GREAT! I dont think people really understand how many units the average gospel artist sells.

I just believe it's Marvin Sapp's season. He's put in work for 20 years (starting with Commissioned) He's kept a standard of releasing Christ-centered anointed music. He hasnt gotten weary in well doing. Because he didnt faint he's reaping. But this gives him a platform to present Christ to a wider audience. I know we wont see Pastor Sapp compromising or watering down his message to get airplay.

75000 units X $9.99 for each album=$749,250 in gross revenue.......how much of that will Pastor Sapp actually see? The record companies take most of that...........but congrats! This is awesome for Pastor Sapp, he is an awesome man of God!

@me You are so right don't think people understand how big of a deal this is for any gospel artist. Just proves that with the right exposure sales can be achieved. It's been a mighty long time that someone has debut with that much....(It maybe the first for Verity actually). Verity's PR team better milk the cow, lol. On another note, as me said the music industry as a whole is just going downhill as time goes on.10 years ago a album only selling 75k (again great for a gospel artist) would have not even made the top 10.

First of all id have to say i had been waiting for this cd, just like last cd, I am disappointed, the best and only good song on there is The Best In Me. I believe that the CD came out a little to early and was rushed in producing it.

I like Thirsty a whole lot still, however I like this cd just as much. Every song on this cd speaks to the season that I'm in now. Thirsty had the anointing it had because of where Pastor Sapp was in reference to losing 3 fathers (physical, spiritual, musical). This album finds him in a different place. We cannot expect every cd an artist makes to be like the last one. It will never happen. When Fred Hammond and RFC came out with "Purpose By Design" (2000 Verity Records/Face To Face) I remember being disappointed because I was looking for Pages of Life Part 3!!! Lol!! After really listening to it I saw how much of a blessing it was. So give "Here I Am" a chance.

@Gospel Music Fan, Yes we are all favored by God. I was only stating that he has a special place in God right now! I was not trying to be "deep" :)
