If you recall, J Moss, The Clark Sisters and Kierra Sheard recorded a special track a while ago for a tribute album that was released in Frankie Beverly’s honor.
The Trumpet Awards, the annual awards program honoring the achievements of notable African-Americans, honored Frankie Beverly and had the Moss/Clark family on hand to perform that song back in January. The broadcast of the program is FINALLY hitting television this Sunday, April 4th at 9pm ET on TV One.
Their performance was incredible. They sound and look great (the Clark fans are gonna looooove the hair)…
OMGEEEEEEEEE! There’s NOBODY in gospel like that family.
Whatd’ya think???

Sound great! J Moss' runs were nice but the hair... I don't know about that.
KAREN, KAREN,KAREN~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THE CLARK FAMILY!
Put a fork in me I'm done!
All of them were in great voice. Karen put it downnnnn.
It's nice to see the family together. This is one of my favorite Frankie Beverly & Maze songs.
Man O Man, this family.....JESUS, lol. They tore this up, and all of them can SANG with no effort. This performance was on point.
That's right CLARK/MOSS/SHEARD...yall betta sang!! I actually liked the hair!
Top Notch...loved the performance and everything.
in no particular order: 1) frankie bevelry is one smooth brotha. no ifs, ands, or buts 2) j. moss...if frankie could take off his hat for this event, clearly you could, too. who do you think you are LL? 3) and j. moss again...jeans in the boots went out in the 90's. guess you didn't get the memo 4) ummm, gospel hype men are not what's hot in the streets (or rather, i just don't like them) 5) loved the reaction of frankie beverly and maze 6) the clarks and kierra sounded great...wish they had more equal parts. but glad to see them there nonetheless. people truly love them.
I just love The Clark Sisters! Kierra fits right in and the all sound amazing. While I like J Moss, I could have done with out him. And what was he wearing?!
It was priceless...My mouth was WIDE open...the look was very fresh and new...love it. Wish I could just go out like that...
The performance was STELLAR!!!!!! I Love that retro vibe they got going on. That Karen@!:):):)and more smiles!!!!
THIS WAS FANTABULOUS! but WHY Jacky looks FLAWLESS and she's 61? I LOVE this family
Wait a minute. I knew something was missing. Twinkie darling .... unleash THE BEAST. lol
Lol @ Jessica. I was thinking the SAME thing.. something was missing. Karen smh....pulled out 90s Karen on me. Dorinda WAS IN GREAT VOICE! The whole fam, I just Love yall!
KAREN amazes me all the time.. WOW. I LOVE THIS HER! They ALL sounded good though! It was indeed a wonderful performance.
Why the heck is J.Moss in front? He should have been in the back with the Clark Sisters. I know others may differ but he is getting famous of THEIR name anyway. I know he writes songs and sings but he stole their singing voice and twinkie will write him under the table. His main bread and butter, besides God, is staying attached to the Clarks. He really didn't need to be there. Where was Angel?
Wonderful tribute to one of my favorite artists. Frankie and Maze seem very touched with what they did with his song. God Bless the Moss/Clark family for doing such a wonderful job! My Lord, that is a singing family!!!!
In times like these, I'm just so glad to see african american families staying together and lifting up the name of Jesus. If more families stuck together, drew from each other's gifts, and magnified God like the this family - just imagine what kind of communities, family structures, and churches we would have. God bless the Moss/Clark family.
Thank you for showing my absolutely most favorite group of singers! This has made my day!!!!!!!!!! Yeaaaaaah!:):):)
Jada, you're in time-out. You just slayed me like never before. Since EJ likes to announce his pet peeves sometimes, I have one too....unnecessary "talking" doing gospel songs. Kirk Franklin did it well, but James Fortune and J Moss wear me out with it. Let the music speak for itself. And why is he introducing them at various parts as if we don't know whom we're seeing?! I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I love when J Moss does his own material--it's spectacular and driven; however, whenever he's with another artist, his hands are too involved.
This one definitely slays you UNDER the pew. Kierra without question stands on her own and Karen/Dorinda---nothing short of extraordinary.
My goodness, why extra negative commentary, especially on what people are wearing?? No one was out of line. I am very happy for each of them. I believe they represented gospel music well. They sounded great!! Very good job on a major stage.
Definitely just got brought to tears. I'm not ashamed to admit it. It makes absolutely no sense that folks can sing like that. What I'm even more blessed by is the fact that Gospel is REALLY showing itself strong right now. Big-ups to Kingdom music.
Jada, that may have been true for J.Moss in the 90's but he's made himself into a notable singer/songwriter/producer on his own behalf today. So I don't agree that his "bread & butter" lies with his cousins. To go further back, The Clark Sisters rode off the back of their mother's fame during their early years too. Many people forget that Dr. Mattie Moss-Clark innovated the soprano/alto/tenor section split that all choirs do today. She was also the first ever to record a choir album & one of the first artists in Gospel to achieve Gold status for a record. So it's not a fault to come behind a legacy and capitalize on it. In turn, you can make your own like the Clark Sisters did. I believe J.Moss as well as Kierra Sheard are setting up their own. But honestly---"he stole their singing voice"?? Seriously? L.O.L.
OMG - that hair, lol! good job. that is all...
As the McDonald's commercial says I'm Lovin It!
Not into J.Moss to much, However, those 4 sisters and 1 daughter/niece is truly enough 4 me.
KAREN JUST BE SHOWING OUT!!! SHE IS THE BEST AND I DONT CARE WHAT THESE FAKE PPL GOT TO SAY ABOUT IT. LOL AND REMEMBER TO PICK UP KAREN'S NEW CD "ALL IN ONE" NEXT TUESDAY, 4/6/10
Some of you all are really silly. J. Moss wore the hate and the outfit as a TRIBUTE to Frankie Beverly. There were singing a tribute to the group. Furthermore, J. Moss is a part of the Clark/Moss Dynasty and he has carved his OWN niche in gospel music. You may not LIKE his style, but that gives you no right to personally attack the man and discredit his contributions to such a great legacy! He may be standing on the shoulders of the sisters, but he is standing on their shoulder while yet carving his OWN path in music and ministry. He has produced some of everybody from N'Sync to Shirley Caesar and they didn't call him simply because he was "in the family", but because they respected his WORK. Why be so negative just because? This was a great performance by an anointed and talented family. Give it a rest!
Sorry J. Moss wore the *hat not the hate lol
@HarRell....I'm sure you've been on enough blogs/message boards to know the things that are said should, more often than not, be taken with a grain of salt.
OMG! They were ALL just Awesome! Love them Clark Sisters, Kiki and J Moss! There is none like them, no where! Don't know about their hair though!
@Relationship Over Religion: You are absolutely right!
@HarRell: I understand what you're saying. I love the songs that Kierra Sheard, Dorinda Clark, and Karen sing with J. Moss. That song, "Return" on Dorinda's cd stays in constant rotation on the ipod when I workout or drive. J. Moss has a smooth, rippling voice, and his ad libs are always skillfully placed with a great message. When I first saw this video, I was frozen at the screen. Of course, I have played it a couple of times. Somebody was in the audience just straight jamming! I know that's right! That is what genuine music does.
Lovely! Karen continues to give me shivers...
I thought the performances by all were great. To all those critics, who probably can't hold a note in a bucket, chill with your opinions. As for the talking, J Moss in no way compares to James Fortune and Kirk Franklin. J Moss can actually sing. And if you do your homework, Donald Lawrence produced the song and gave them the parts to do, including him giving J Moss the speaking parts. And as far as J Moss riding on the shoulders of his cousins, it was his father that was very instrumental in the Clark Sisters' beginning, not just their mother. It's been said that Karen and J Moss has the same style, but the others are only successful from being a part of the group. None of their solo careers have been as successful as J Moss'. Do your homework. Jackie can't sing. Twinkie need to stay on the organ. Dorinda is a better preacher. But as a group they are hot and have a very unique sound. And to those that are criticizing the clothes and the hair.... get a life. What magazine are you in to be a fashion example?
Musiclover, you are CLEARLY a stan! So you know not of what you speak. And as for as Jacky not being able to sing? She has her grammies, far more than what you have. You most DEFINITELY can get off Twinkie... did you just consider her as the others? #beseated.
REALTALK..... THE CLARK SISTERS HAVE A GRAMMY... NOT JACKIE ON HER OWN. AND NO, TO ME, JACKIE CAN'T SING. SHE CAN HOLD HER NOTE BUT THAT'S ABOUT IT. HOW MANY WORDS DOES SHE HAVE ON THE SONGS. LISTEN TO ALL THE CLARK SISTERS PROJECTS AND LISTEN TO HOW MANY SOLO PARTS SHE HAVE. AS A MATTER OF FACT, GO BUY HER SOLO CD AND TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK. YOU OBVIOUSLY DON'T HAVE IT. AND YES TWINKIE IS ONE OF THE OTHERS. SHE DOES HER BEST ON THE ORGAN. SHE AINT NO GREAT SINGER!! MY OPINION, JUST LIKE YOU HAVE ONE!!!
Oh wow, All caps though? you yelling? You're RIGHT it is your opinion.... it might be dumb, stupid, ignorant and uncause for but you are right it is YOUR opinion. And as far as Twinkie not being a GREAT singer, DO YOUR RESEARCH, but I'm not going to argue with you on a blog because you are CLEARLY a crackhead. I pray that you be delivered. Drugs is not the answer.. Jesus is the answer ok?
OH i can see how you say Twinkie is not a great singer, her recent years. Still do your research, and after that go listen to a Twinkie song and maybe you'll want to get delivered from the drugs.
Realtalk...... I have Twinkie's stuff. I am a music lover and buy it all because I support. She can write play, she is not a great singer to me, period!!! -- I know a whole lot of people that don't like Twinkie or any of the sisters. They don't care for the screaming and all the vocal gymnastics. And I respect their opinion, just like you need to respect mine, No need for name calling.... Maybe you're on drugs. But just because I may not like a particular artist, don't belittle me. If you have an adult opinion, type it. If not, HUSH!!! Now, you go somewhere and get delivered. Because you apparently aren't adult enough to have a respectful conversation which may result in a difference of opinion. You are the only one acting dumb, stupid, ignorant and might I add, very immature. If you are a Twinkie fan, good for you. I prefer the collective sound of the entire group, or Karen or J Moss, individually. Like who you like and I will do the same.
@ALL-- WHAT?! I kinda can't believe I have to come on my blog and moderate stuff like this. Some of these comments-- an embarrassment to the Body of Christ. "Christians" who neither love their neighbors as themselves (Mark 12) nor know how to tame their tongues (James 3)... and aren't afraid to flaunt your shortcomings, publicly, when you have AMPLE opportunity to self-edit and erase your angry rants before you click the button to post it. Are you serious?! You live life, angrily, like this all the time? You have NO self-control? I don't get adults like that. I definitely don't get CHRISTIANS like that. Dunno who you are or how often you come, but the name calling goes against house rules (http://localhost/gospelpundit/house-rules), so consider your immature selves GOOD and banned from this site. Further, since I have a cold and don't feel like reading any more RIDICULOUS commentary on something that was supposed to be a merely celebratory moment for gospel music on a nationally televised program, I'm closing the comments on this post. Folks, watch the video or don't. You can hate it or love it. Those are YOUR options. But we're not hearing any more opinions on it here. That's MY option. Foolishness.
Oh I remember this performance, let's not forget they are FAMILY all of them..to mock J moss is like mocking the entire family on stage..stop hating..especially if you are a BONIFIDE Christian living like , and speaking like a bonifide christian DOES, if you aren't then I'm not surprize of the hateration comments. I consider the Clark family the FIRST FAMILY OF GOSPEL, they are all great and annointed by GOD, the GOD of Abraham, Issac Jacob...and KAREN OMG..she's is such a warrior for GOD when she opens her mouth and HOLLARS..
