Okay, conference organizers– this one is for you. Folks don’t seem to mind the number of gospel conferences every year, but you might wanna have them in more central locations…
What do you think about the NUMBER of gospel music conferences and workshops?
I don’t mind the number, but I wish some were closer to where I live. – 43% (78 votes)
There are too many– only a handful of them are actually helpful. – 25% (46 votes)
I don’t mind the number– more opportunities for people to learn! – 23% (42 votes)
I don’t care– they’re all a waste of time and money anyway. – 9% (16 votes)
The votes kinda played out the way I expected they would. A lot of conferences seem to be held in places that make it cost-effective for the organization, but not for the potential attendees. So, ultimately, the organization pays low costs, but has low turnout.
It may take a lil’ more risk, but someone should throw a conference dead smack in the middle of Chicago or Washington, DC… see what happens. LOL
What do you guys think of the results? Are you attending conferences anyway???
And make sure you head over to the sidebar to speak your mind on the next poll topic… this one is so fun, I’m gonna let you vote as many times as you want to:
Which Karen Clark Sheard album is your favorite???

not too surprised by the results, but for me the more important question is - is the market being saturated by these conferences? the topics/themes appear to be so similar. part of me thinks there's a power struggle/egos at play as to why things can't be combined. and ultimately, i've never understand how some people run to conferences and can't even attend their local assembly...but that's just me and my warped thinking :-)
Come to North Carolina!! This is the bible belt and the saints love the Lord here!! lol..
@EJ If the conference is God lead then ok but if it's money lead which is what most of them always are then NO! Remember when they were called CONVENTIONS?
@North Carolina, i wish we could get more of them to come here too, but you would have to get local pastors and churches to help sponser it. And most pastors were i live at in NC don't really care for big conferences because most of them are all about mone anyway.
I'm from Jersey and I've attended a few conferences in the area. There were no life-changing experiences and like R.O.R stated....the topics/themes are all so similar. It just didn't provide anything new so I stopped putting my money into them over the years.
Hey! I agree! The NC gets overlooked for almost everything! Besides the Women's Empowerment Conference that will be held this weekend. It's very few conferences held hear. If there are they are usually in Charlotte or Raleigh (the Metropolitan areas). The places near or around where I live are exempt a lot of times. This weekend Joyce Myers will be here in Winston-Salem, NC. I would like to see more free or less expensive conferences take place. I am currently getting ready to be hired with a company but before that I was unemployed (like most of us in the US--especially here). I could no even afford to attend any conferences let alone travel to the various destinations. Yeah, again come to NC! Most if not all the conferences I've been to have been life changing. Whether local or National we believe in winning souls and praising God here.
here's a thought...do you think some cities don't even want these conferences/conventions in their area? that could be a reason why some places appear to be "underserved" (i.e. north carolina). the track record for major conferences has not always been the best. yes, the conferences bring in money for the city, but as we have seen recently with some major church organizations, the city is not always happy to have the church folk in town. i'm sure state tourism boards talk...
