MAJOR congrats to gospel hip-hop artist Sho Baraka, whose new album, Lions & Liars, has debuted at #3 on Billboard’s Gospel Albums chart!
I want you guys to understand how great of an accomplishment that is– gospel hip-hop artists don’t always get much coverage from the more “mainstream” gospel media, so to land at the top of the charts, through other means is a big feat. Great job!
Also, Myron Butler & Levi’s latest project, Revealed… Live In Dallas, has debuted at #6 on the chart. Kudos to you all, too!
The full breakdown is as follows:
#1 | Marvin Sapp – Here I Am
#2 | WOW Gospel 2010
#3 | Sho Baraka – Lions & Liars
#4 | BeBe & CeCe Winans – Still
#5 | James Fortune & FIYA – Encore
#6 | Myron Butler & Levi – Revealed… Live In Dallas
#7 | Fred Hammond – Love Unstoppable
#8 | Hezekiah Walker & LFC – Souled Out
#9 | Brian Courtney Wilson – Just Love
#10 | Tamela Mann – The Master Plan
Mary Mary’s The Sound has dropped out of the top 10, perhaps for the first time since its 2008 release, but lands just at #11. It’ll be back. LOL
Who’s got Sho Baraka’s project? What do you think of the charts?

I have Sho Baraka's album. it was worth the wait. Great marketing leading up to the album. I think Karen Clarke Sheard may break into the top 10 by next week also looking forward to Michelle Bonilla's (In Spite of Me) album dropping on 4/13
Is it really good? I am asking because some gospel hip hop can really leave you feeling upset and dissapointed.
What? This is a shock to me. I have never heard of Sho Baraka. Who? Well congrats, anyhow. That is definitely a feat.
I'm so extremely proud of and excited for Sho Baraka!!!!!!!! Congrats, Bro, God is doing mighty things!!!! [For those who are not familiar with Sho Baraka, please visit www.reachrecords.com, to hear and see (video) some of his work.] TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I haven't got it yet but I've listened to it and I plan on getting it. This is a good look for Christian rap. If you listen to Christian rap a lot, you've most likely heard of Sho Baraka, he's on the same label as Lecrae, Trip Lee and Tedashii (Reach Records) but if you don't really listen to it I can understand why you haven't heard of him. Some Christian rap is disappointing and same with other types of music but with the four artists above, I don't think it's likely.
Gongrats to Sho! Am a big fan of 116 clique and the Reach Records guys. I am a DJ in a Christian radio station in Cape Town, South Africa and we pumping on our playlist We could be more by Sho Baraka f/ JR, which is a hit with Cape Town. I heard through the grapevine that Sho will be coming down to Cape Town next month and I hope to have him in our studios. Keep on with the good work guys!!! Madd blessings
