Favorite Gospel Artist? I didn't know people were still singing Gospel these days... hmmm... No one comes to mind. I know a few solid Christian artist but that's about it....

  • DaDa wrote on May 28, 2010

    KAREN CLARK SHEARD

  • Katydid wrote on May 28, 2010

I know I am late, but err anyway..... Karen Clark Sheard is my favorite artist for more than a few reasons: I have heard several CLEAR keys in her voice (consistently) on many songs. Her soprano is fierce, portraying a command from a higher being. I am not the only one who hears a combination of notes strategically placed within a song from her and wonder, "How in the world did she do that?". Listening to her sing brings the same pleasure as receiving a range of sounds from a violin played by a professional: You can feel and almost touch the range of patterns. Her approach reveals a concept about God that simply can't be ignored, and I am just so pleased that she is blessed and bold enough to go there. oK, now I am about to cry. *I love many gospel artists, but I am usually caught somewhere trying to imitate Karen Clark. I can't seem to match that time when she held a note for about ummm.... how many seconds? It was on the song, "Jesus is a Love Song". The whole presentation on that video was great, but when Karen Clark goes " to meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"..LoL! That was too good. The video shows the audience, and this lady is slinging her arm around and around in meditation. Go back and watch the video. I will never get over that. She has a distinct gift for presenting what I want the world to know about Jesus. If I could sing that way I would be in a straight jacket because I would not let anyone stop me. That growl is vicious!

First, I just gotta say: I LOVE gospel music -PERIOD!! But my all time favorite artist is mary mary-hands down!! Their music is always so uplifting(despite what some of yall think and feel)it's the type of music I listen to when I'm down(it lifts me up) it's the kinda music I dance to (a holy dance) it's the kinda music that stops and makes you think about your relationship with GOD. It's the kinda music I share with my family and friends, shoot my 8 and 12 year old nieces LOVE mary mary. I could just go on and on about their music and their personalities(I met them once)but the one thing that makes them so special to me is:when I was a freshman in high school, I wrote to them on my space(yea myspace! LOL!!) And I told them how their music saved me from killing myself, and erica took the time out to message me back(it took like 6 months or so), the message was short and real sweet and she encouraged me to hold on to god and to NEVER let go-and that's why mary mary is my all time favorite gospel artist...the end!! Lol!

Franklin The mighty clouds G.E. Patterson The Soul Seekers The williams brothers Lee williams Best harmonies in the business:BeBe and CeCe-HANDS DOWN!!! Just thinkin about their harmonies...LAWD JESUS!!*passes out*

  • Jonez wrote on May 30, 2010

I can't pick one!!!! It changes weekly. Um fav female artists would have to be Kim or Karen depending on my mood, Fred's pages of life is my fav. All time album. But if I HAD to pick one artist I would have to say Kirk Franklin, because his singers are amazing, songs are timeless, but most importantly he consistantly puts out good, classic albums. Stuff that sounds just as hot as it did when you first heard it. So for that reason I would consider him my fav. Artist.

MARYMARY they are a part of my Christian journey because I used 2 only serve God @ church. I din't pray, didn't read my bible, had no contact w/ God outside of church. Until I heard their Incredible album (my fav). Marymary songs told me what 2 do outside of church, that album talked about encouraging others (God Bless) stop stressing (In the morning) that God can take a nobody & turn them into something great (Ordinary People). It dealt with issues I could relate to that i had never heard in gospel music before, I'm young so I didn't overcome drugs or anything big like that, but they talked about what God says in his wor is true, trouble ain't gone last alays, insecurities, tragedies....The album is just realtes to my human side. After listening to this album I began 2 seek more gospel music 2 listen to, pray @ home, and ultimately SEEK GOD. Amazing vocalists, songwriters, funny (yes Christians do have fun), and anointed women of GOD.
