Ya Heard?: Listen To VaShawn Mitchell's "Nobody Greater"

VaShawn Mitchell - "Nobody Greater"I have a feeling that this song is going to be HUUUUUUUGE at radio, in churches and on stages across the U.S. of A.  It’s just got that vibe.

I’m talkin’ about the newest single from VaShawn Mitchell, titled “Nobody Greater.”  It’s from his upcoming album, Triumphant, which will be released via EMI Gospel on August 10, 2010.

The production is tight (Daniel Weatherspoon!), the vocals are tasteful and just right… the song is beautiful.  Love it.

And for your listening pleasure, I’ve added it to the PunditPlayer.

WOW finally. since the first time he sang this at church i've been waiting on this to be released. This song is a blessing. Awesome!

The production was clean. The band was tight & smooth. The lyrics were somewhat meaningful. No strong Hook.

This thing is really connecting with me. "I searched all over...couldn't find nobody. I looked high and low...still couldn't find nobody. Nobody greater...nobody greater...nobody greater than You!" I could sing that all day! Very church friendly! *adding this to my list of songs to teach*

WONDERFUL! By the 30th second I knew which praise team was doing this at my church! Simple and excellent.

The opening is a little long and slow. Wish I got more of the drive and vamp. Overall nice!

I'm at work and this song overtook me. It took me a minute to get into but I downloaded it on itunes. My youth choir will be getting this one on their list of songs to do in church. Why are cds taking longer to come out between the singles? More money to purchase the single and the cd? Ok, that could be a great for one of EJ's writers.

  • v4c wrote on May 13, 2010

matthew5and9 - Me too...I told a friend who stopped past my cube while I was listening to the song for the 10th time that I was glad she did cause I was a good 10 seconds away from tears and a lap around the office, LOL. It did take a while to build but the lyrics (and how much the music reminded me of Joy by Marvin & Ron Winans...which builds nicely too) in the beginning kept me listening to see where it would go.

This song surely ushers in the Spirit of the Lord at First Baptist Church of Glenarden in Maryland. It speaks volumes and brings tears to the eye.

True story...I started playing this song for the Youth & Young Adult Choir on Saturday to teach it to them and my Minister of Music started tripping cause he intended to teach it to the Praise Team, LOL! We ended up having a 10 minute sidebar about being blessed by the song during the week...and after I taught the choir part, they were all in too! We're all expecting a mighty move of God on 5th Sunday when we sing it. Can't wait!!!!

  • matthew5and9 wrote on May 17, 2010

@v4c I was a lil scared about the 10 minute church sidebar. Did you plead your case? Let me know how it turns out. I gave the cd to our minister of music, we're going to be in the heavenlies after singing this song.

  • v4c wrote on May 17, 2010

matthew5&9 - No, lol! He was tripping in a "you heard & loved it too" kind of way. I called our chat a sidebar cause the choir was looking at us like, "Ok...play the song so we can get hip to this. y'all are too pumped!" LOL. When he told me he intended to teach it to the Praise Team, I said, "Well shoot, let's all sing it!" And he agreed! :-)

oK I love this song but I do not like this version, Kevin Lemmons does a verson that is waaaaaaaaaaaay better. I was a bet shocked to because I am a big fan of Vashawn but this arragment of this song just did not do it for me at all. Waiting to see what the next track will be from the cd! Pray that it is better then this one.

  • v4c wrote on May 17, 2010

Really, Pastor Wes? Never heard that. I'll have to do a little research to see if I want to switch up how I taught it before it's too late, lol. Hmmm...

  • Melodie wrote on May 17, 2010

Pastor Wes, I like Kevin Lemmons' version also. But, he has not recorded it. I heard/saw it on YouTube. He did not put it on his latest project. Until he puts it on CD, who will know that it is a better version. In the meantime, I have fallen in love with VaShawn's version.

Absolutely love this song. Expresses the love that one should have for the one who does everything and gives everything to us. There is absolutely nobody greater than You (Lord and Savior). Thank you Jesus.

WOW!! WOW!!! WOW!! I heard a piece of this song for the first time this morning as I was driving to work on the Yolanda Adams Morning Show....and it connected with my spirit immediately. I emailed my Minister of Music and suggested that our music department minister this song. I also had to look it up and hear the entire song and your website pulled up. I never knew that this existed. I am grateful to have come across your website. I will definitely spread the word about you guys too. Thank you and keep doing what you do. God bless you!!

  • Luwarner wrote on June 15, 2010

WHAT?!?! Are you serious?! You said "the lyrics were somewhat meaningful. No strong hook." The song is saying that there is nobody greater than our ALMIGHTY GOD, nobody greater than THE GREAT I AM, there is nobody greater than the God we serve....... how much stronger does the hook need to be. I'm just sayin'........ :0)
