Oh my!
I remember when this live performance of MC Hammer’s hit “Do Not Pass Me By” came on television in 1992– it was MAJOR in my house because Tramaine Hawkins was being given significant mainstream attention on the American Music Awards.
Now, I look at it and I’m like “WHAT THE WORLD?!” LOL
The significance of it is still great– at the height of his success, MC Hammer had two singles with a gospel message– “Pray” and “Do Not Pass Me By.” The latter featured the legendary Tramaine Hawkins on the hook. That’s huge.
But this here choreography nearly took me out this morning!
Check it out (apologies in advance for the poor video quality in the beginning… it clears up early on, I promise)–
Who remembers that?! And by the way, is it just me, or is the arrangement STILL hot to this day?! Woww….

EJ, I'm going to go home for lunch just to see this choreography, LMBO. I can only imagine... I may not remember the performance, but I certainly remember MY hammer pants! LOLOLOL...can't believe my Mom bought them...or that I actually wore them...or that they're back in stores disguised as Harem pants, LOL!
EJ!!!! You are hilarious! I remember this. I was (and still am) a huge Hip Hop head so I use to hate on Hammer's flow, but I loved his stage presence. I look back and it was amazing how he had two "Gospel" songs that got a lot of airtime. Check the hairstyles of some of his dancers. One of his dancers names was "No bones". LOL!
Ahhh!!!! Yes!! I remember this, and it's STILL hot! Did you check out the "hammer-barines"?? It is a longstanding dream of mine to see Hammer collab with Tye..Now that would be hot!
Watched it! LOLOLOL! And once I started watching it, I did remember seeing it!
THAT WAS DA BOMB!!! The intro is still dope! The dancers was super fly! The choir was...well I've run out of 90's-era slang, but they were doing big things. I don't know if I'd rather be in the choir, or one of the dancers. Tremaine Hawkins is so classic, and that arrangement is still enough to take anybody OUT!
Wow.... me and the choir belts out this song at my church every once in a while!!! I love the way they performed this
