I'm sooooo happy, she will be a blesing to the music industry

OMG - she is so deserving. I've watched her every Sunday for this season and got my "church on". This girl is the business 4 real. Congrats! to you Miss Leandria!

They both were pleasant singers......My choice would've been Elder Mclendon

I'm not saying this to be negative but the finale should have been live, not taped. To me, SB was a scripted show. But all the finalists hopefully will have good careers if they are managed right.

I did not watch the show on purpose.

Congrats, LeAndria! You earned the title! I'll watch the recap online in the am. Looking forward to seeing Kim Burrell.... I agree that the finale should be live. And kudos to the distinguished gentleman who is Elder McClendon....

Leandria was my pick from day 1 out of all the auditions she was the only one to wow me and aint no telling who else could really sang that was cut!

I figured Leandria would win...seems funny that they taped 2 finales...didn't seem like she was really into "winning" becuz at the time of the taping she didn't know she was gonna win...So, it seemed like she was ok happy, and just a just ok excited...if it was a live show, she would have toe up the stage becuz it would have been a REAL REACTION, instead of artificial surprise LOL...but that is ok...She won and she has the anointment all over her!! and on the other hand, we will hear from Elder again...i bet he will be on the Stellars singing in January...u just watch!!

  • valerie wrote on June 21, 2010

Elder was my choice, but Leandria has my blessings

  • valerie wrote on June 21, 2010

Elder was my choice as well, I really wished both of them could have won, what a blessing to gospel these souls are, I will truly miss them each Sunday

  • Helen Morris wrote on June 20, 2010

She deserved it. She has mad anointing and I wish her the very best. #teamleandria all the way.

  • busy04 wrote on June 21, 2010

I don't think you're negative. I fully agree. To pre-tape a "win" doesn't seem real at all-scripted. Anyhow, I'm very happy for LeAndria, she deserves it! And I still excited for Elder Goldwire, even though he didn't win, I highly doubt it'll be the last we hear of him :)

  • BRI wrote on June 21, 2010

SHE WAS ALSO MY PICK FROM THE AUDITIONS.......LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE HER! CONGRATULATIONS LEANDRIA!

  • Marcel wrote on June 21, 2010

Congrats to LeAndria - She was my choice as well. Did any notice that Durrand was not there during Kim Burrell's performance? What was that all about?

  • Leda wrote on June 21, 2010

So happy for LeÁndria. I'm reminded of Erica Campbell's statement of her not looking "winnish". This just proves that you cannot trust in man- no man, whether they sing gospel music or not. Thank God that he stated loud and clear that He has the final say on everything. FYI- Per Durward's FB page (about his absence): HEY FOLKS...NO NEED BE ALARMED - LOL...NO PROTEST...My mom's drove to the show and she didn't have it in her to drive back home. So, I drove her home. I really wanted to stay but couldn't. That explains it.

  • Shawn wrote on June 21, 2010

The only question I have is this. When was the finale show taped??? If the finalle show was taped weeks ago, did our votes really matter?

  • Tam Tam wrote on June 21, 2010

That's his explanation for his absence? He had to drive his mother home? Um... he was a contestant on the show. Made the top 3! But he didn't stay for the entire taping? What about contractual obligations to participate in the show until its conclusion? Unless his mother had taken ill or had some kind of emergency, methinks his explanation belongs in the "that makes no sense" category. Makes me wonder if he was more of a poor sport than what's been portrayed....

  • Celybelle@gmail,com wrote on June 21, 2010

Whew! Thanx God. Elder never really moved me,

  • In My Realm wrote on June 21, 2010

    Congratulations!

  • busy04 wrote on June 21, 2010

Oh Tam Tam you can give the man a little slack on this one...there is more to his absence than just "driving mom home", she was not well at that particular time (which fits into your category of taken ill). It's nothing to do with being a poor sport, believe me I had a side eye at "his reason" too :)

  • holyskinnyboy wrote on June 21, 2010

to Shawn, I think they tape two winning episodes, and whoever wins, they show that pre-taped episode. They need to do it live, so we can see how someone truly feels about winning. Remember when Fantasia won AI? Now you can tell, that wasn't pre-taped!!!!!!!

  • Andre Washington wrote on June 21, 2010

I was with the Elder all the way. However my knowledge of the record business told me that no label would sign a 79 year old as a artist. It's all long term thinking. I believe the Elder was the most effective singer but wish the best for Leandria Johnson

  • Gayle wrote on June 21, 2010

@ Andre, If a woman like Betty White can snag roles at 88, the same can be done for Elder, which by the way did record in his youth. And many artists have staying power and are still recoding and playing. As Christians, we don't believe the lies of the music industry .

  • Gayle wrote on June 21, 2010

@ Andre, if Betty White who is 88 years old can snag roles, the same can be done for Elder.

  • Tam Tam wrote on June 22, 2010

Depends on the kind of roles an 88 year old wants. She's been the feisty, foul-mouthed grandmother in some of those roles. That's not a good look and it gets old fast. But she still is an example of seniors staying active and full of vitality.

  • Michael Jenkins wrote on June 22, 2010

    SHE DESERVED IT!

  • RAF wrote on June 22, 2010

Me either, it concerned me that Donnie cried on almost every song he sang. I knew Elder was going to be in the top two just because of judges emotions. Top three should have been LeAndria, Duward and Tiffany.

  • Wanda Lalles wrote on June 22, 2010

My vote was for Elder- I gave him every vote I could! I felt not only did he deserve it but he earned it! He was Sunday Best - all 11 episodes he bought us singing, dancing, praise, testimony, and annointing! What more could you ask for? Even in the finale, he gave us a good praise on his way out! lol! The show IMO would not have been nearly as blessed without him! BET seriously needs to give him his due because he raised their ratings through the roof! When I heard Yanna and Jessica on Sunday, it reminded me that Leandria was just another down home gospel singer. I believe many voted for her due to her hard luck story which she stated at the end of her interview that she was renting the house- it did not belong to her. Huge difference!

  • Shawn wrote on June 23, 2010

@ holyskinnyboy I figured that much. I am glad LeAndria won. I hope she will get picked up with a major deal so we (the fans) don't have to wait for a project to drop. Still waiting on Jessica's project to drop!!! Come on.

  • ebonisun wrote on June 23, 2010

I would have voted for LeAndria from day one w/o the losing her home story...didn't make a difference to me anyways whether she just bought a house or lost a house.

  • Meeeee wrote on June 23, 2010

I am with you on this Wanda....I read the interview as well where she stated that the house was rented. If she had stated that at the begining of the season ,I am sure viewers would not have been that moved by her story...It was indeed misleading .. all through the season she kept saying that she lost her home.Haveing to leave a rented home is no big thing ,all she had to do is rent another . There is a huge Diffrence....Elder was a better singer.

  • Gayle wrote on June 23, 2010

About the rented home, don't u think that is deception?

  • T.T. wrote on June 24, 2010

Congratulations Leandria!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was SO blessed by her, since day one. God is GOOD!!!! Best wishes on a successful & impacting career!!!!

  • George wrote on June 24, 2010

I'm glad you think so. I'm wondering why they never gave a count of the voting. Or did the public votes really count at all? I don't believe so.

  • Lynn wrote on June 24, 2010

God bless both finalists. However, I was simply blessed in seeing God move through the Elder.

  • Beena wrote on June 30, 2010

I am overjoyed for Leandria's win.. it was her destiny. I would have been just as happy for the Elder he was awwesome too!!! I do share the same sentiment with our viewers that the finale should be done live and maybe "we the people" have a say in this since it is us who really fuel and run the show. Wtihout an audience the show or its contestants would be powerless.. so lets rally up our sis and brothers and see if those exec producers will honor our requests. Erica Campbell sent a resounding message to the world with her opinion of what LeAndria did or did not look like by judging her based on her looks and clothing. Ms. Campbell has some repenting, confessing, and praying for forgiveness on her judgemental attitude. We of course will stand in the Gap for her and pray for her as well. The door the LORD opened for LeAndria no one could close....... Judge ye not and we all know the rest of the scripture....

  • Beena wrote on June 30, 2010

be careful of the hype.. The press is notorius for misquoting or misleading about things being reported. Do we know for an absolute fact that she was renting this home? Does it really matter? Homeless is Homeless..simply put Leandria states in her interviews that "she lost her home" She does not say anywhere that i can find in my recorded episodes whether she was renting or buying which definitely is no concern of ours as the public viewer. I rather stay in the positive realm and just be happy for her and her children that the LORD opened the door for her to "leap into her destiny" Wouldnt you agree?

  • gadson wrote on July 6, 2010

Why can't we just be happy for her instead we bring her down regardless whether she was renting or buying who care stop digging into people life we are suppose to be christian. Where will we be if god did that to us

  • TEE CEE wrote on July 7, 2010

I AGREE WITH YOU THAT YOUNG LADY SHOWED TRUE RAW EMOTION. I THINK SUNDAY BEST SHOULD BE LIVE AT LEAST THE LAST SHOW, NOT TAPED TWO MONTHS AGO SO WE COULD SEE THE WINNERS TRUE REACTION. ON ENDOW ME , AND I LOVE THE LORD WE SAW HER TO BE A TRUE WORSHIPPER AND TRULY THANKFUL TO GOD, THAT REACTION WASN'T PURE BECAUSE SHE REALLY DIDN'T KNOW IF SHE HAD WON OR NOT. THAT'S OK BECAUSE SHE'S A WINNER BECAUSE SHE'S ANOINTED AND GIFTED.
