Kinda saw this coming, but it was a tough survey to call…
Which FRED HAMMOND album of the past 10 years has been your favorite???
Purpose By Design – 45% (173 votes)
Free To Worship – 16% (59 votes)
Speak Those Things: POL 3 - 15% (57 votes)
Somethin’ ‘Bout Love – 12% (47 votes)
Love Unstoppable – 12% (44 votes)
I can’t even REMEMBER which album I voted for at this point. I adored Purpose By Design, but I also looooved Somethin’ ‘Bout Love. Speak Those Things had to grow on me, but once it did, that was my album for a year. Same thing with Free To Worship. I dunno.
*throws hands up*
Whatever. Suffice it to say, the man puts out great and timeless music.
Lemme know which album you voted for and WHY!

I voted for Purpose by Design. Not only was it a great album, but it was my first real introduction to Fred Hammond. So, it's near and dear to me. :-)
I voted for Purpose By Design. My next choice would be Somethin' Bout Love. I did buy Speak Those Things: POL 3 but the only song I play from that CD is "That Ain't Nothin". One of my favorite Fred H. songs.
I voted for Purpose By Design. That was my road trip cd to Dayton, Ohio with my church. It blessed my going in and my coming out of jehovah-shuteye. It's the essential Fred Hammond masterpiece. He doesn't have to make another cd for me to love him.
"jehovah-shuteye" *quickened* My Godt! LOL
What's “jehovah-shuteye”? Ohhhh.... Ok... I get it now.... I think....
I may be wrong, but I thought matthew5and9 was writing out what he "uttered" at the mere thought (glory to God) of the experience he had with that CD on his trip! LOL! So churchy! Churchy stuff makes me laugh...which is why I added my churchy stuff to it! ;-)
What a hard vote...but I voted for 'Free to Worship.' It was his first cd after moving to Dallas and Bishop Jakes' ministry. It came on the heels of a disappointing 2004 record. It wasn't heralded at its release, but gained steam and garnered him his first Grammy for Best Contemporary Gospel album. I bought the cd three times because I played through it so much the first time that it kept skipping on "Thank You (I Won't Complain)." The first time I heard "No Greater Love," I had tears in my eyes. "Lord Your Grace/This is the Day" is unbelievable. There's almost no dud on the whole set and the live DVD is even better. I would rank this album as his third-best ever of his solo career, (behind "Spirit of David" and "Pages of Life: Chapters I and II") - a stunning epic album with no guest stars.
@ Josh: See I think he fell off some when he left the D! (I'm a Detroiter, too! :-) But I really enjoy his version of "This Is The Day" from that CD. Seems like his newest CD is promising. I haven't had a chance to hear it all out yet, though. @v4c: LOL Ohhh! Like writing your tongues out? LOL! I ain't mad at that! I thought matthew5and9 meant "Jehovah Shaddai" and just wrote it his/her own way! ;-)
@ Tam Tam, lol. yes i got my REST not sleep on. @v4c, it was on. the glory filled the coach bus and reclined my seat back. all is i could hear was fred crooning and felt something in my spirit.
I'm mad that I didn't get to vote on this one! It's been so long since I have listened to some of these albums in their entirety...But out of the list, I have to say that POL impacted me the most...that double disc combining the old with the new was epic! As great as the new music was on disc 1, I think I liked the live disc with his greatest hits even better! We all know that his live stuff is killer!!
