This morning, I woke up humming “Holy Spirit” from Richard Smallwood & Vision’s Healing: Live In Detroit album. Of course, I went to iTunes to immerse myself in his music, landing finally at his latest project, Journey: Live In New York.
Now, we all know that Richard Smallwood & Vision are prepping for a new album. And I’m more than excited for it. But a part of me is like “go’n and take your time, Richard! You’ve given us PLENTY to hang on to until you get good and ready!”
So, real quick, before folks start talking about new music, let’s just shower this page with our FAVORITE Richard Smallwood songs. I’m simply curious to know which ones you love the most.
If you can’t name just one (who can?!), gimme two or four or twenty. I just wanna know! In fact, post one now, go eat lunch and think about it for a while, come back and post three more… whatever!
I’m startin’, but I’m skipping over the classics like “Total Praise” and “Center Of My Joy” cuz those are just givens– beyond them, my favorites are ”He Won’t Leave You,” “You Did It All,” ”Angels,” “Thank You”… okay, I gotta think of more later.
What about you??? Let’s hear ‘em!!!

Since you STOLE my two, "Angels" and "Thank You", I'll go with "My Everything (Praise Waiteth)"...for now...
I've Come Too Far - with Dottie Jones on lead.
Total Praise
"Anthem of Praise", "I Love the Lord", "Precious Is Your Name (feat. Chaka Khan)"
Thank You is still THE song. In large part due to Charisse, I'm not sure how much I'd love it if there were someone else on lead.
I love Praise Waiteth
Thank You feat. Charisse Nelson-McIntosh, Be Open with Darlene and Charisse, Total Praise, Anthem of Praise....can I just dump his whole catalog in there? Are we only doing Richard Smallwood & Vision songs? Add Psalm 8 to that mix. Outside of Vision songs, Jesus, You're the Center of My Joy.
Some of my favorites include: Holy Thou Art God, Be Open, Praise Waiteth, Come Before His Presence, Center of My Joy, He'll Never Let Go of Your Hand
Praise Waiteth, Morning Breaking, He Won't Leave You....
There are MANY RS songs to choose from.... My top three are: "I Love The Lord", "Total Praise" and "O What A Night" from his Christmas CD "Rejoice".
Healing just came on....no one can forget that altar call song.
Calvary, Don't Cry (feat Kirk Franklin)
"I Won't be Troubled" "His Mercy Endureth Forever" "I'll Trust You" "When Jesus Came Into My Life" "He Won't Leave You" "So Glad I'm Here" "Call The Lord" (the original version) "Holy Holy" "Hold On" (not to be confused with Hold On, Don't Let Go) "Be Faithful" "We Magnify Your Name" "In The Shelter" "Vision" "A Love So Strong" "Wonderful Counselor" "The Highest Praise" "Glory and Honor" "Rejoice" "Precious Is Your Name" "Morning's Breaking"......Uhhhhh.....I can do this all night. LOL!!!!
Be Open, Calvary, Psalm 8
Definitely healing!
"Center of My Joy", without question!
I gotta go with "I love the lord", "all the glory" and I can go way back when he was with utbc young adults "look up and live"
Healing Total Praise Praise Waiteth How Excellent Is Thy Name I've Got Something-Donald Lawrence's version
Sometime ago, before 98', bro smallwood did a music conf here in houston at Winsdor Village. He taught us "Healing" I can't begin to tell you how that one song has carried me through some personal hells. And how can I not include "Thank you You!" My girlfriends and I would play that song over and over on the dvd and just go in! When we wanted to have church that's the dvd we would play and just totally be blessed! I can't wait 4 the new project to hit.
It's a tie between Total Praise and Love Divine (The Smallwood Singers version).
He is an awesome songwriter! To me, one of his old hidden gems is "Your Love Divine." I love the chord progressions sung by the choir towards the end.
Hallelujah is the Hightest Praise, Praise Waiteth, the WHOLE LIVE in DC Album! O Lord How Excellent is Your Name, Calvary, Holy Thou Are God, Holy Spirit (Fall Down) Coronation, Wait...now I gotta go listen to me some RIchard...I WILL be back.
I could so easily name ten songs, but I'll limit it to three: "Psalm 8" (both versions, but particularly the updated version from the 'Persuaded' album), "Holy Thou Art God," and "Jesus, Lover of My Soul". These songs truly magnify God, reminding us of the beauty of His essence, as well as our dependence on Him for the grace we so desperately need. (Ps. 62:1-2)
Love Divine, You Don't Know Like I Know, Holy, Holy, I Love the Lord, Angels, Calvary, Be open, so so many
Total praise.
Smallwood is in a class almost by himself as a writer. Hard to pick one here goes. This is a different one. "At The Table"
Total Praise is my all time favorite song
You Did It All, Total Praise and I Give You Praise (featured on Darwin Hobbs' "Worshipper").
As another commenter noted, Richard Smallwood is such an anointed, talented songwriter. So, I would agree with every song named so far. But, I would add one to the list: "I Give You Praise."
Ok Total Praise tops the list ...but Healing and then Hold On Dont let Go follow close for me......
Healing
Praise Waiteth & I'll Trust You are my two favs sad to say im not that familar with too much of his music!!
Power of God - Dottie Jones Be Faithful - Richard Smallwood & Dottie Jones Holy Thou Art God - Vanessa Williams
