I got home last night and had myself a good ol’ time listening to all of my Walter Hawkins albums… I hit ALL the Love Alive albums (yep– all five of ‘em), before revisiting albums like Jesus Christ Is The Way and others. And it dawned on me– y’all might not have this music, huh?
So, for a limited time, I’m giving you the Walter Hawkins PunditPlayer to hear some of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE songs of his from the past 40+ years. It’s a total of 30 tracks!
I tried to flow with ‘em, but I couldn’t load ‘em all. You want more than 30, go’n and buy it (you probably should, anyway)!
Suffice it to say, you’ve not seen a playlist like this on GospelPundit.com, and you may not ever again. If you’re a fanatic like me, let’s walk down memory lane. If you’re learning more about him since his passing, listen… and you’ll understand who he is and how incredible he has been.

hope that Light records releases I Feel Like Singing on cd/itunes and somebody can get Birthright's catalog release od Special Gift and then I will have my collection complete on cd! I'm so glad I got to be a part of the Love Center/Music & Arts Family well over 25 yrs now!
So um... EJ....***looks around*** so I got a couple of blank CDs.... can I send them to you and you fill 'em up real quick with this playlist? LOL! Ok seriously.... I got a couple of options but they will take some time: I can either raid my parents' Hawkins collection on VINYL or I can get the songs from ITunes or I can dig through my CDs to find what I have. I mean, my Love Alive album (the green cover) is on CASSETTE!!!! Nooooooo!!!!! Sigh.... I'll be alright.... I will get all the songs eventually from across all my options! :-) You just got another notch on the respect meter for this playlist, EJ! Wonderful job!

As I'm really being ministered to right now (and I really need it!) via the Walter Hawkins 30 Greatest Hits Tribute Playlist @ GospelPundit.com, it just reminds me how WATERED DOWN some of today's gospel music has become. Each and every song on this playlist UNDOUBTEDLY and UNQUESTIONABLY tells of the Lord BY NAME: WHO He is and WHAT He is all about. I hope that gospel music can get back to its original purpose. But if it never does, we have this music from Walter Hawkins and the Hawkins family. Thank the Lord.

This just hurts too much. This man sat me down and told me about Jesus when I was a kid in the early 80's. My family and I would get ready for Church on Sunday with his music playing on the Magnavox console stereo. Then, we'd listen to him in the car on the way to church. He seemed to be a family friend. I got to meet him a few years ago. He was such a ginuine spirit, the nicest person ever. I can't take this. I lost a friend..............................
