Word has it that Pastor Marvin Sapp is in search of an organist to play at his church, Lighthouse Full Life Center Church, in Grand Rapids, MI.
According to a Facebook post from Sapp, the church is looking for an organist– male or female– that is saved and skillful on the organ. You’ve gotta be able to play in every key.
Interested candidates should send their resumes, info and/or video link to joyamgmt@gmail.com.
Anybody gonna go for it???

"You’ve gotta be able to play in every key."? What does this mean? Every key that ever existed? Every key on the organ? Or does this mean that the organist has to know how to FOLLOW in whatever key he's in? What kind of job description? LOL! Sigh.... BTW, Marvin Sapp spoke at my church this week. He did a good job.
LOL! As the former wife of a musician, I KNOW that all musicians cannot accurately play songs in any key...the key is pretty much the overall pitch of the song (not individual notes)...especially on the spot. For instance, if you start a song in one key but you modulate 3 times, you must be able to play the song in the 3 additional keys. I remember seeing my ex have to dag near learn the song all over again to be able to play a modulation in a key he was less familiar with (I hope he doesn't mind me saying that, lol). I think it includes every possible key on the organ and to be able to follow anyone singing...not unreasonable at all. Trust me...musicians know exactly what this means. :-) If they don't, then they aren't qualified for the job anyway, LOL!
Hi, Mia_v4c: My brother is a church musician (organist) and he has PERFECT PITCH. My uncle is an organist...church musician his entire life. Writing a PROFESSIONAL, clear and concise job description is a reasonable expectation that aligns with the decency and order that our Lord calls for in His Word. ;-) What you just wrote above at least offers more information to explain the specific criteria that this church requires of any potential applicants. And notice I'm not even tripping off the fact that this was announced over FaceBook because I do understand that in the 21st century society , social networking is going to become an more significant method of online communication.
Gotcha...You know all that music stuff! Lol... Actually, I don't mind a "layman's terms" type of job description on Facebook or here. It's safe to be a bit laxed in these spots. Now, if this were on the church website or a newspaper, that would be a different story, lol. Also, facebook is where EJ happened to notice and grab the info from...we probably shouldn't assume that it's the only place where the info is posted or available.
"Also, facebook is where EJ happened to notice and grab the info from...we probably shouldn't assume that it's the only place where the info is posted or available." This is true. :-) And I don't know all that music stuff. I just listen/watch/observe and ask questions...unashamedly and unapologetically.
that is nice job for someone who can play the organ
I just submitted my resume!!!! #PraySaints LOL
