Is it just me, or does CeCe Winans’ Throne Room album depict one of the greatest worship experiences in gospel music?
I can’t really pinpoint another album that so seamlessly creates a worship ENVIRONMENT and experience– it transitions beautifully, until you literally feel like you have entered into the throne room of God, spent some incredible time with Him, and left… to return again soon.
Maybe I’m being extra, but there are very few musical projects that give me an experience with God like this one.
Is it just me?

Wooaah! hold up, a Pastor's position isn't greater! It clearly carries more responsibility and maybe that's what you were getting across. But remember a church functions like a body...without one part, another part can't function. Would there be a problem if there was no one to operate the sound equipment in a church? Most probably in the majority of churches..
I have to agree with you on that one. If I want to go into worship in my bedroom, that's the cd I put in. It takes me to a place no other cd has done. God truly used CeCe on this cd. I love this cd. Great observation EJ, keep doing what you do!!
I would say that Israel's Live From Another Level is a project that did a great job of putting into the worship experience. It's still to this day on of my favorite CDs. Disc two is just IMO, is the quintessential example of a seamless worship experience. Everything just flowed so masterfully.
This was an amazing worship cd!
EJ, you are absolutely right.
AMEN!! Even today, Throne Room covers me with the presence of God.
I agree with you. When I first purchased it a few years ago, I didn't understand it and just wanted to be entertained. I am so glad that I held onto that cd. As my relationship deepened with Christ, many mornings I have began my prayer and meditation with CeCe.
Yes Cece's "Throne Room" is amazing...I remember plenty of mornings where I would wake up to this cd blasting in my moms room...I have listened to the cd and even watched the powerful dvd also...it takes you right into worship!!! I also love Fred Hammond everything...such as "Purpose for Design" or "Pages of Life 1&2" are really good ones also!!!
EJ, You are correct! I LOVE THIS CD. It is my favorite CD of hers followed by Everlasting Love. I love this CD because it is unapologetically worship. It is all about worship and it seems very personal. Also I love the way the songs continue from one track to the other. Standout songs for me are: Jesus You're Beautiful, You're So Holy and We Thirst for You. Those songs describe/reflect the heart of a worshipper. I never thought this CD was recognized (in terms of sales) like it should have been. I want another like this from her. I am not crazy about the track Hallelujah Praise, it just seems unnecessary on this CD and it seems to yank me out of the sweet place of worship. I usually program this song out of the play list. It's great in concert but not lovin it on the CD.
One of CeCe's best. I think musically and spiritually she was at a creative peak during this time. A lot of people did not understand the album but @TIM the album sold pretty well. It reached Gold status. I'm not sure but the dvd was either certified platinum or gold.
Throne Room was CeCe's highest debuting solo album and it went Gold, the DVD went Gold as well! There were not too many songs to that radio picked up on, but the reflection and adoration on the CD is very powerful. "Thirst For You", "Mercy Said No" and "A Heart Like yours" are my three favorite songs from that effort.
@marshawn I didn't realize that it had reached gold status. That's great!! I wish more artist would be artists, take a risk and do something unique. I guess its hard when they have sales figures to meet and the need to eat too.
But we CANNOT forget Alabaster Box...jsut sayin'....
I have to give a big thumbs up to this is a VERY INSIGHTFUL POST. It's a great example of the biblical milk-to-meat principle. Much of today's gospel music is MILK and I think some gospel music fans stay on the milk WAY TOO LONG and then they don't grow into the meat. CeCe's music is "meaty" ;-) The "Throne Room" CD I think began to set her apart from many (Black) gospel music artists wanting to move more into the contemporary praise and worship subgenre. I haven't listened to this CD in a while. It's a treasure. Thanks for the reminder.
Aaaaahhh! *shaking in my chair* My My! You weren't there the night that Jesus found me! You didn't feel what I felt when He wrapped His loving arms around me and...YOU DON'T KNOW THE COST (eyes literally puddled up as I typed that) of the oil in my Alabaster box. It's songs like these that make me LOVE gospel music so much. *sigh* I should probaby go hide in the bathroom now so I don't scare my co-workers with these tears...lol.
It was a double cd so have to remember that if one CD is sold it counts as 2 . Doesnt discount that Throne Room was and is a CLASSIC! This is coming from someone who isnt even really big on CeCe Winans, I love Throne Room.
EJ, Cece's Throne Room CD was and will forever be one of the best examples of an LP done right. When I was in college, I would put this CD on repeat and leave it going for days. Cece is a true example of a worship LEADER. She leads you into the presence of God and allows you to enjoy our Holy God. Thank you bro for posting this. I'm going to find my cd and listen to this again!
Throne Room is only one CD. It came with a bonus DVD that had a few tracks on it. Throne Room as a staple for me through my last two years of college. It's hard to decide what is my Favorite CeCe CD, but Throne Room is a contender with Alabaster Box and Everlasting Love.
No it is not just you, Cece voice is just beautiful and this cd is just amazing.
So true....so true....so true....
