Word has it that Israel Houghton will be on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno this coming WEDNESDAY, September 8th at 10:35pm CST, apparently sitting in with Rickey Minor (one of my faaaaves) and the Tonight Show band.
I reckon he’ll be playin’ a lil’ GUITar.
Make sure you tune in (or, if you’re like me and this is waaay past your bedtime, set your DVR).

That is huge!
Ditto...This is HUGE!!!
**parks and waits for the criticism about Israel participating on a "non-gospel" show....** All I have to say is this: as long as Israel stays true to himself and what he has presented himself as (thus far), then I guess that's really all that matters....
Wow, that's great!!!! I'll tune in. :)
What a wonderful opportunity. I wish him all the best and I will be watching.
Jay Leno must be a fan of gospel, he had the clark sisters on there too. I`m not sure if I would be tune in, but thanks for the heads up.
Now Tam Tam. If it was not an artist that you loved, would you be as understanding? You have gone in on folks and I am just wondering. He is such a GREAT guitarist and I am excited for him.
Word has it that Aaron Lindsey will be there playing with the band as well! Ricky Minor is cool people. Anyone offended shouldn't be. Teddy Campbell (Soul Seekers lead singer) plays drums for the show. These guys are men of God and I don't think playing songs during commercial breaks is gonna jeopardize their salvation.
I agree with J. Adams. And the last band leader Kevin (sorry can't spell is last name) was/is saved and when I watched the show they never showed him in a negative light. This is a wonderful opportunity for Israel as a musician. And even though I was turned off by Jay Leno after the whole Conan thing I'll be watching.
I did have a chance to listen to Israel last night and I have to say I was quite disappointed. It's always great when gospel artists have a national platform; I applaud that. But what good is it if we can't "bring the cross over". Israel opened up with "Love God, Love People" but I didn't hear him sing another gospel song. I didn't have a chance to listen to the entire program, but I did hear him sing a Michael Jackson song and a EWF song. He wasn't even introduced as a gospel artist. Are appearances like this really to promote God or is it for national notoriety? If people don't know that we're different and can't see that we're different, what's to make them want to know our God?
Excellent commentary...i feel the same way!
