Goodies: Throwback Hez – “To Be Like Jesus”

It feels kinda funny referring to Hezekiah Walker’s Live in London as “throwback,” but it was released in 1997, which was 13 years ago… that’s kinda throwback at this point.

In any case, this is one of my favorite cuts from that project– it’s “To Be Like Jesus” featuring LaWonda Campbell.  Pretty sure I featured this video before, but it got so good to me this morning, I figured “why not?!”

    YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS SONG! LOL, I sing this like everyday, it just uplifts my spirit. "I`m traveling each day, to be a an example in every way, and though I face mountains and test, I`m trying my best to be like you" She sounds like Aretha, this song just builds me up everytime I am down, the words and Lawonda voice just send chills down my spine.

    I agree with Michael. I love her voice! And this song did it for me....I wish there had been a video of her doing "Sweeter As the Days Go By" from the cd before this one....my my.

    "Since the day that He saved me...."....ok, I'm gonna stop. This post is supposed to be about "To Be Like Jesus". LOL EJ, I heard that she (Lawonda Campbell) was ill a while back....do we know if this is true or if there's an update?

    Bishop Walker and LFC is phenomenal. I hope they're not through. Love this song and I love her. Sister's Campbell's version of "When the Saints Go To Worship" where she ends up pulling off her hat and walking away from her own self is good to me too.
