Is it just me, or is anyone else noticing how many moves Light Records is making?
I alluded to it last week, in discussing how well their team had coordinated publicity, radio and retail to make a splash for William McDowell. But as I continued to think about it, I was reminded that they JUST signed Ricky Dillard, JUST signed Dorinda Clark-Cole (didn’t we all think she was going to Karew?!), and is releasing a compilation project with some great new tunes via GospelFlava.com.
They may be an “indie” label, but they’re making some major strides. I see you Light Records!
Is it just me?

I agree these are some good moves for Light records. These artist are older but they are also top sellers. I think this is a good move for Dorinda instead of going with Karew.
As great an idea it would be for Dorinda to support her sister's business venture (Karew), I'd have to agree that going to Light Records is a MUCH better choice.
Light Records has some good talent on their roster but I would not consider any of them to be today's TOP SELLERS per se. What is the last major selling album to come from that company? Since it is an indie label, marketing and money resources will be compromised so I don't know how "great" of a choice this is. We will see though!
I think that it will allow Light Records to be the contender it was in the 70's and the 80's. You have to remember that this was the home of Andre Crouch, The Hawkins Family, The Winans, Commissioned, Vickie Winans, L.A. Mass, N.J. Mass, Chicago Mass, Daryl Coley, Kingdom(Fully Committed), etc. It will be a slow build to that level but it's a great start to reestablish itself as a label.
