I think I may attend the one in Tampa or Jacksonville. Kirk is one of my favorite artists and Steve one of my favorites.

Why is kirk touring with steve harvey?? Someone please tell me, WHY?? For what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness???

  • Praise Adonai wrote on November 29, 2010

    don't understand the pairing either...

  • Kwartema wrote on November 30, 2010

All I'll say is that there is no way Kirk on his own would embark on touring such ambitious venues ie arenas etc....so maybe Kirk reckoned this was a good 'business collaboration' IDK.... which kinda confuses me cos I follow Kirk on twitter and he's always urging artists to not sell out their souls for record sales and says he'd rather release music music that pleases God than that which only tops the charts so once again IDK......maybe on the other hand Kirk saw it as a ministry opportunity to reach the unsaved.....I really dont know but either way I wont be there...hehehee...

I like Kirk's music but he's not an artist I would want to see in concert. But I wouldn't mind seeing Steve Harvey as long as he has some new jokes and he's the headliner. And is this a cuss free tour for Steve, just because he's doing it with Kirk don't mean he won't cuss.

  • QuriousGeorge wrote on November 30, 2010

New Jokes?? IDK. He said he will be bringing a clean show and that will be challenging for him. He mentioned he would be talking about when he was in jail, etc . All this sound like jokes Steve has done before. Let hope he don't cuss and he did mention that he would avoid vulgarity. Steve is the headliner. He mentioned that the event would begin with a gospel concert (kirk) and then his comedy show.

  • QuriousGeorge wrote on November 30, 2010

Kirk is on tiwitter. Go ask him and he'll answer.

  • toe wrote on November 30, 2010

Kirk should not have done this show with Harvey. Bad judgment call--standards for gospel artists dropping minute by minute

  • QuriousGeorge wrote on November 30, 2010

Not to start anything but how is this really different from a gospel artist deciding to take part at the grammys, american awards and appearing on secular talk shows where the objective is not really about God. Crazy stuff happens on stage at the grammys etc but the artists must have agreed to take part. Also, gospel artist singing with secular artist even if the song if its a 'good' secular song. My take on this: Based on Steve's comments, he and kirk entered into some discussion before an agreement was made. I would hope he will choose to respect the God, Kirk and christian that may attend and and do clean show( no cussin and vulgarity) You don't need to cuss to be funny.

How is he selling out? How are the standards dropping? Steve Harvey is SAVED he is not perfect (like all of us) but he demonstrates ALL that he is striving to live more Christlike everyday. Why do we have this notion that people who are a part of the entertainment industry are not saved Christians??? We have to get out of this mind-set that what we believe to be the proper way to reach the lost and the unsaved is the ONLY way. Just because you can't fathom the possibility doesn't mean it's impossible that this could be a GREAT thing for the Kingdom as a way of bringing in others. You don't know Kirk's reasoning for embarking on this tour. If you are THAT concerned, like someone else said, hit him up on twitter and ask him about it. We do too much talking abt what isn't being done by our gospel artists to reach the masses, but the second someone actually does something that may seem unconventional to you it's "wrong" and "out of order". Wrong for who? You? Then don't go. Go does not operate based on what you assume or conclude about his plans. They move right along with or without your approval. The Gospel shall be presented to ALL ppl, in ALL settings, and in a variety of ways. The message is not compromised because it's simplified so that everybody can "get" it. Jesus insisted that ALL of us come to know him as children would. The Gospel in all of it's fullness and glory is simple enough that a child can understand. We complicate the message with OUR preferences and OUR opinions and OUR rules and regulations. If you are not out ACTIVELY spreading the Gospel SIT DOWN. If all you do is complain about what other ppl aren't doing SIT DOWN. You are a hinderance.

  • SavedByGrace wrote on November 30, 2010

All of you commenting against this tour forgot ONE MAJOR FACT. We are all humans. Adam -- the 1st man sinned, so what makes you think anyone is perfect. Jesus - died for all of us. What if people stopped associating with you because of your "issues?" PLEASE STOP misquoting scriptures. STUDY!!!

  • Keisha M. wrote on November 30, 2010

Steve Harvey is one of the least funniest big name comedians in the business. I wouldn't see him on tour if tickets were given away for free. Kirk Franklin is another obnoxious personality but at least he's only bringing the musical portion.

  • Kingdom wrote on November 30, 2010

I agree. The Gospel is inclusive to all men in that it gives EVERY man no matter what shape or form he is in the opportunity to receive Jesus. We need to stop being so exclusive under the guise of keeping our "standards". For the most part, we're only teaching ppl the "appearance of holiness" anyway. We're so concerned with how things appear to us instead of investigating what really is. Jesus warned us of judging the "appearance" of things. Get out of yourself and your own personal way of thinking and see the benefits of this kind of thing.

The issue is not Steve Harvey's intentions. The issue is not whether or not Steve Harvey "loves Jesus". The issue is not whether or not Steve Harvey is "saved" or not. The issue is the fruit that he bares. He still does his same old material, still cusses etc. From his own mouth he said that it was going to be a CHALLENGE to keep it clean on this tour. This is not someone who is ready to be before God's people in ANY kind of ministry situation. There is no way that you can be famous in the secular sinful spotlight, get saved, and be transformed while remaining in the spotlight. God NEVER plays out the transformation process in a believer in front of the public because the risk is too great. There's too much of a risk for folk to be lead astray by the unGodly fruit that God hasn't cut away yet. He always seeks to work out the kinks and the sin in private, BEFORE he puts you before his people. The problem is that many performers who get saved REFUSE to let go of the spotlight so they can go through the transformation process. Because of this they don't get fully delivered and usually end up going back into what they were doing before. History tells the story folks. Merging with secular artists and performers in hopes of TRULY winning them to Christ doesn't work. Kirk tried it before and he admitted it didn't work (go figure). It has NEVER worked!!! It didn't work with R. Kelly, David Banner, Missy Elliot, Patti Labelle, etc. etc. etc. ALLLLL of them are still doing the same stuff they were doing before, the only difference is that now they have a foot in the Gospel market as well. Please don't be deceived folks. This is all about MONEY! It is a great BUSINESS move, not a great spiritual connection. It's about the cause of furthering 2 careers, not about the cause of Christ.

  • ED, m.a.e.s.t.r.o. wrote on November 30, 2010

You are absolutely right. No one is perfect. But does that mean that anything goes and EVERYONE is ready to be put up before God's people to minister? Would you listen to someone preach who is "saved", but still makes porn flicks? If Trey Songz made one Gospel song should we turn a blind eye to the fact that he still sings "I Invented Sex" and bring him in to minister in song to our youth? Shouldn't there be SOME kind of line and standard? Shouldn't those who we allow to stand before us in ministry be held accountable for the fruit they bare?

Excuse me, but Steve doesn't need the money, and, quiet as it is kept, neither does Kirk. Kirk said on the radio that he will be taking folks down memory lane. Say what you want about Kirk, but his body of work speaks for itself. I've seen him in concert 3 times, and each time Kirk was a joy to my soul. The brother loves the Lord and loves to have fun, and I get it and I love it! I have a feeling there is a method to the madness. In the meantime, I'll be praying for all those involved in this tour next year.

  • Tam wrote on November 30, 2010

***Applause***STANDING OVATION!!!***Applause*** It's a trifling shame that folk would even CONSIDER giving their money to a man who said he will be CHALLENGED to do a clean show.... So up front he's warning y'all that you won't get what you pay for. It's also shameful to give money to a man who OPENLY MOCKS the Word of God.... Referring to the TBN interview with Donnie McClurkin where he talked about his book and his 90-day rule... But the Bible says FLEE FORNICATION! And Steve said something to the effect of that Christians are not waiting anyway so at least wait 90 days.... Wow. Just wow.... I'm not trying to tell people how to spend their money. But um.... yeah.... It's all BUSINESS!

  • Kingdom wrote on November 30, 2010

This kind of "exclusivity" in the body of Christ is what will ALWAYS keep us divided. You want ppl to "clean up their act" before you bring them into your discriminatory Jesus Club. Instead of continuing to reach out, embrace, love, pray for and with them, we continue to push them out as though they are not "good enough" to do anything for God as is or to receive his grace, mercy and compassion. Bottom line...most of your will continue to talk, criticize and speculate, but will not get out there and do anything to compel men to come. You go to church, shout and go home and don't share the gospel with anybody. How often to you converse with those who are not ALREADY saved? Are u out in the streets teaching holiness and righteous living? No. You sit at home and complain about what isn't being done. Bless your ineffective hearts!!!

  • The Bull wrote on November 30, 2010

Let me ask you this: How will doing stuff like comedy shows lead people to Christ?

  • The Bull wrote on November 30, 2010

No one said he can't be saved. No one is trying to exclude him. No one's criticizing, we just are well aware that this is all big business.

  • Just Thinker wrote on November 30, 2010

If Steve is the Headliner...perhaps he is bringing Kirk in for the unsaved to expose them to the love and worship of Christ so that they can be ministered to by Kirk. Sounds like Steve is doing what he was created to do...share the love of Christ that was shared with him. Selah

  • Nique wrote on November 30, 2010

Here we go again with the stone throwers...lolz yall crack me up! I will say this though no one but God knows the heart and motives of Steve Harvey, only God can judge his heart as well. Just like no one knows the heart and motives of Kirk but Jesus. If they are doing this for money, so be it. If they are doing this for christian entertainment purposes kudos to them, but I'm not gonna sit behind a computer and throw rocks at these men when they don't even know my name and could probably care less. That's my two cents *goes back to tons of school work*

  • Novella wrote on November 30, 2010

@Kingdom, Bless your ineffective hearts!!! LOL!!!! PRICELESS!!!

  • The Bull wrote on November 30, 2010

So he's going to do his comedy routine talking about how he went to jail, and he'll probably start makin fun of church people and all kinds of silly crap. and then he'll bring out kirk franklin to minister to the unsaved?

  • SavedByGrace wrote on November 30, 2010

You do err ED!!! Who said they were going to "minister?" They are going to ENTERTAIN. You don't have to go. But you will NEVER make us believe that everything you do is about ministry either. Your job, watching TV and family gatherings all cause us to socialize with people on different levels.. Maybe you shouldn't socialize with NO ONE but yourself, because NO ONE is on your standard.

  • SavedByGrace wrote on November 30, 2010

CORRECTION: Maybe you should socialize with NO ONE but yourself, because NO ONE is on your standard.

  • Kwartema wrote on December 1, 2010

@ED ,m.a.e.s.t.r.o - VERY VERY WELL SAID and I also agree it comes down to this..like you said ....'This is all about MONEY! It is a great BUSINESS move'

  • ladyd wrote on December 1, 2010

What better way to win the lost souls than to pair up the two. Love will win them. Please don't put your mouth on what Lord is doing. Let Him have His way. "The Earth Is the Lords and the fullest thereof the world and they that dwell therein." Think positive, pray for them and just watch out for the results. For God Has The Last Say in EVERYTHING!!! Keep Steve and Kirk in prayer.

Ahhhh. Pardon me for thinking that a GOSPEL artist would be about ministering the Gospel in song when they're on stage. My mistake. I mean it is being called a comedy GOSPEL tour. We're not talking about Kirk appearing on the Steve Harvey morning show here. In that case let's open up the flood gates and bring Trey Songz, Lady Gaga, and Beyonce in to do concerts at our churches. I mean, it's just "entertainment" right? Wrong. It should ALWAYS be about ministry when you get before God's people in what is supposed to be a Godly setting. Sure there is an entertainment ELEMENT to it. The music oughta be good, the singer oughta have good stage presence and be able to engage the people etc. etc., but at the end of the day ministry and letting God have his way should be the goal. How can you be available to let God use you when all your focus is on trying not to slip up and cuss? It doesn't surprise me that people don't see a problem with this though, because nowadays Christians don't see a problem with going to Beyonce and Usher's concerts anyway.

  • The Bull wrote on December 1, 2010

Your right, it SHOULD always be about ministry? But is it? Is comedy a ministry?

  • ED, m.a.e.s.t.r.o. wrote on December 1, 2010

I believe that it can be. My whole point is that even if it is entertainment, we should be mindful and careful of WHO we let entertain us because entertainment can make us feel good, but it can also be harmful to us and to our walk with God. Someone who is still doing sinful filthy comedy routines on the regular should not be up in front of God's people struggling not to cuss.

  • BDS wrote on December 4, 2010

This is a joke right? Wasn't it Kirk himself, who stated that looking back he would have never used the artist he did, to sing his breakout hit "Lean On Me"... But more importantly... WHY ARE YOU GUYS SURPRISED? That's actually the bigger shock here! This is the natural progression of an industry that has thrived off of being a Cross-less gospel, made solely for entertainment and profit... So Kirk... this is expected Bro. Keep up the "good" work.... *sarcasm added for emphasis*

  • eyeswideopen wrote on January 27, 2011

Amazing! Has the prosperity, Jesus is ONLY love "other" gospel deceived the very elect? I cannot question whether SH is saved, but the word is CLEAR that you can decern the tree by the fruit it bears! When one is saved there SHOULD be some outward EVIDENCE. This man makes mockery of the things of God, & is held up like some sort of posterchild for conversion. He went on tbn & openly advised christians with his 90 day sex rule which is in direct opposition to what the word teaches UNCHALLENGED. NOW, he is alledgedly being accused of being a liar and adulterer by his ex wife, and this is who we support? Lord come quickly!

  • TruthSpeaker wrote on April 6, 2011

I'm so happy none of you small minded people are "GOD". That's one of the reason why people who are saved wants to come to church, because of those comments about people we believe are not SAVED. The question is are you saved? Is your house in order? Steve maybe more saved than 80% of us saved folks and cuss!!! TruthSpeaker
