I hope the gospel segment is not put at the end of the show and given less than 2 minutes of air time. While all the other performers are given over 3 minutes of air time along with 2 more minutes for their remix routines. LOL!!!

RME. Gospel is becoming so boring, and we already know who gon win in the Gospel catagory, *MARYMARY* funny thing is if BeBe & CeCe Winans were to win I know they won't be there because CeCe refuses to go to award shows. RME. This woulda been the perfect time to get exposure too.

So true! Remember the Grammys in 2007 (I think) when they did that quick gospel medley? Isreal Houghton, Clark Sisters, Trin-I-Tee 5:7, and somebody else. Funny thing is that medley was barely five minutes and was so rushed but then everyone else gets to sing and do remixes. So sad lol

Excited to read that there would be a gospel performance @ the 2011 BET Awards this year! I was thinking it's about time. Watched live brodcast Sun. June 26th For the gospel segment, and the tribute performance to artist Ms. Patti Labelle by Pastor Shirley Caesar, kudos! Unfortunately the BET Awards on a whole for me were embarassing, poorly sequence segmented, sound technichians performnace was poor, unprofessional, & the direction of staging, & segway transferes were well below production standards. I say embarassing (knowing that true this is a mainstream secular event) due to the sad fact that African Americans whom have influence, public popularity, & acclaim seemingly feel whenever it's an official BLACK showcase performance that gives them carte blanche to go ghetto to the 100th infinitive power by cursing, using the term negro, and niggaz; perpetuating negative stereo types of over sexed black people, simulate sex on stage, half naked & scantly clad bodies, pierced & loaded with tatoos, being trendy expressing themselves in an orgy of obsess cutting edege vanity! Never realizing millions are watching you whom are not of our culture or ethnicity, who watch & believe this is our true reality as Black People!

Then when these others people star calling us (nigger, negroe, niggas & subliminally also openly treat us as such) we become offended. What do we honestly expect others to think of us if every time we get congregate together to ( so call celebrate our lives, and our selves ) we see such arrogance and bliss in the ignorance of our public actions as we reinforce these stereo types? I realize we all have a right to express ourselves through creativity, art, music, and expression. yet when you have a platform to do this worldwide? Be responsible! Think! I'm sure someone at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. may have been just as embarassed. Everytime we make strides forward why do we always retreat backwards?

To The CEO of BET Ms. Debra Lee May I suggest that since you already have the BET HIP HOP AWARDS as a seperate entity, that you make The BET Awards more main stream across the board celebrating all cultural aspects of the African American experience in arts, and entertainments inclusive of drama, stage, gospel, classical, jazz, R&B soul, folk, and pop? Not excluding generation x the youth but with balance? The BET Awards are becomming The BET HIP HOP AWARDS ON STEROIDS! Also when featuring gospel segments, or saluting the US Troops etc. Allow these featured segments to appear 1st in your line up production to be respectful of their artistry, ministries, and service to our nation. Not having to look akwardly out of sequence after such elicit performances. Thanks!
