Does anyone remember a SuperBowl commercial from Chrysler this year, titled “Born of Fire,” featuring video footage of the city of Detroit, along with Eminem and the Detroit-based Selected of God Choir behind him?
In my opinion, the campaign did a great job of conveying the spirit and strength of a city often perceived as down and out. With over 12 million views on YouTube, the commercial (and the “Imported From Detroit” tagline that accompanies it) has become a symbol of sorts
Well, Chrysler and Eight Mile Style LLC have partnered to release the gospel version of “Lose Yourself,” and it’s available NOW at iTunes. 100% of proceeds from the publishing revenue will go to three local Detroit charities— Abayomi Community Development Corporation, The Yuinon and Robert S. I love this gospel version of Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.” Also, for 100% of proceeds from the publishing revenue to go to three local Detroit charities is very amazing too!!! Well done, Chrysler and Eight Mile Style LLC...
I remember the days when gospel music was about content . Man I wish those days would return.
Music is truly a Divine Activity; without limits and boundaries! Well Done!
There's a spirit on this music--I had to turn it off, because my head was hurting...I think this was a bad decision on their part. This act brings more glory to Eminem than it does to God. ..for every other artist/choir, please do not repeat.
Music is so interesting. Lyrics have the the benefit of having two meanings, the one given by the singer, and the one understood by the listener. These lyrics have a powerful and important message. I like that they weren't afraid to tackle a song with such raw and seemingly abrasive lyrics and transform it into their own personal message and meaning. My pastor used to love to sing "How Sweet it is to be Loved by You" and though it was not written as a gospel song, his meaning when singing it was to the glory of God. The mark of great songwriters is that their words can be used across genres and across other insignificant boundaries that we've placed on music.
@Toe, Have you ever listened to "Lose Yourself" By Eminem? Its a inspirational song.....I don't get your comment. It makes no sense. Maybe your head was hurting because you were trying to hard to find something negative in the song because of who its connected to. I'm not justifying Eminem as a artist, yes... Not everything that he presents shows a clean lifestyle, but whose to say that your favorite Gospel artist is living right? Or did have a unclean spirit on them when they were recording their biblical music? I hate the act of judging. Most people don't even take the time to look into things before they open their mouth. Know that a lot of Christian/Gospel music is written by people who aren't saved. Know that a lot of people who work in the Gospel music industry also back secular artist. The same money, blood, tears, and sweat that goes into people like Eminem's projects, also has its place in the Lord's music. Know that the President of a label who signed the check for a Winans or Fred Hammond album, could be the same President who gave authorization for a Marilyn Manson record. Don't get to spiritual because If you wanna do that then you might as well analyze everything else in your life the same way. Keep it real and stop it with all of religious mess.
