After a season of great vocal talent, the public has selected Amber Bullock over finalist Andrea Helms to win the title. Along with it, she has won a national recording contract with Music World Gospel, a cash prize and a brand new 2011 Ford Explorer.

CONGRATS GIRL!!! its your season you deserve it no matter what,that money car,ministry doors are your's even though forces worked against you (the JUDGES like MARYMARY,DONNIE), GOD created pathways like OCHOCINCO and Jasmine Sullivan to root for you girl on TWITTER and look where you are.God never embarasses his children.Andrea was anointed too but her skill did not measure up to your's but i believe she will have a powerful platform in the CHURCH WORLD not the industry as a whole coz she seems to be for the church world,just my opinion.All in all congrats ladies,JESUS ROCKS!!
I really think Andrea Helms had an amazing voice. I don't want to pull the race card but I'm sure many people voted for Amber because she was black. Congrats to Amber and I wish Andrea the best of luck in the future. Hopefully she will get a record deal sometime soon.
Although I am happy for Amber because I do believe she's truly talented, but I definitely think Andrea Helms should have won. I am truly disappointed, but oh well.
I'm sick about this because I don't think black people voted for andrea just because she's white. She'll wipe the floor with Amber in the long run.
To Zariah and Mary: No need to pull the race card (reverse racism or whatever). Gospel fans have a sophisticated palette...and simply Andrea's talent was mediocre in comparison to Amber's. We're far too discerning and intelligent a people to vote for someone, be it in a talent competition or a presidential election, based on race. The very fact that you resort to that explanation leads me to believe that maybe you voted for Andrea simply because she's white. Clearly, there is no other justification...she is in desperate need of a vocal and breathing coach...she tends to be pitchy...she attempts riffs that she can't execute...her vibrato is overly used and annoying to be perfectly honest. In sum, she's quite lack-luster for the Gospel arena. Maybe you're not familiar with Gospel music; otherwise, I wouldn't have to recite for you why Andrea didn't measure up. Could you image her singing with the prior winners?! Just imagine the tribute to Mahalia Jackson with your girl Andrea in the mix...she'd have been taken to school, eaten for lunch, and tossed aside, and sent home to her mommy crying foul (like you are now). The judges tried to sway the viewing audience to make Andrea the winner this season, no doubt under pressures from the producers of the show. However, Gospel doesn't tolerate mediocrity well and the plan was foiled when the ultimate decision was left in the hands of the voting public. She is not, nor will she ever be, Sunday Best, but she may have a promising career in contemporary christian music. Her voice and skill level are better suited for that audience...they only require passion...actual skill is optional. Moral of the story: SHE LOST (and for good reason)! GET OVER IT! E.B., J.D.

Artistry and what people call the Annointing (a word greatly mis-used) are two different things.Andrea is a gifted praise and worship singer but she lacks artistry and if GOD wanted her to win,it would be so,so just hush with all this race and annointing.............comments because the reason why AMBER BULLOCK is where she is ,its because GOD wants her there,she is the winner in his eyes and GOD sees her heart and is taking her ministry to another level.Its a shame people judge others based on how they appear to be,there are many worship leaders who can move a crowd but their life-styles behind closed doors are questionable even in this gospel industry.............GOD SEES THE HEART,AMBER BULLOCK is an artist and many other labels will be interested in her cause of her versatility and even OCHOCINCO,jasmine sullivan, etc are rooting 4 her.BYE!
Once folk get out of the DELUSION that Sunday Best is about finding an "ANOINTED" singer (based on one's personal definition of that term--as opposed to what the WORD of GOD says), then it will be VERY CLEAR about who won: the contestant who ENTERTAINED in song versus the contestant who MINISTERED in song. I'll let each of you decide who fit in which category between Amber and Andrea.... Both contestants had different styles and strategies and even with the INCONSISTENT judging, they both were pleasant to watch, although there were other contestants who earned those top spots. It will not be surprising if Amber's ("gospel") music career path morphs into an ambiguous state to where she doesn't want to be labeled as a "gospel" music artist or she may just defect gospel altogether because of those "judgemental" Christians who don't seem to "understand" her, e.g., Shei Atkins, Tarralyn Ramsey, etc. Amber should get a fair chance to ride this accomplishment out. I hope she uses it for good and not allow the enemy to use it for evil.
Andrea should have won! im sorry i just dont agree with the votes! which were screwed up anyway because bet had the numbers switched up the first time the show aired anyway here's a few pointers for the next contestants for season 5 of Sunday Best....if you're not a woman, overweight, and cant do a bunch of runs....you'll never win....so dont waste your time.....same ole same ole! its time for a change please!!!!!
you think new judges who are gospel record executives or people in the industry e.g jawn murray,steve jones,lashawn daniels,rodney jerkins etc should be the next judges of Sunday Best and not actual artists? i think they also need to diversify their audition crowd coz these judges............nway, Amber Bullock,just like Jessica reedy (sang with faith evans,kelly price,secular events) will succeed not only in the GOSPEL INDUSTRY but also in the SECULAR world, just watch and see what happens.People may have a problem with her because her music goes beyond the four walls of the church and some cant even handle it. And i think MUSIC WORLD GOSPEL is just the label to help her accomplish that,go outside the four walls.
If ANDREA HELMES was black, with the kind of voice she has, would she have made it this far into the competition???just ask yourself and if Michael Pugh was a woman based on the way he moved the crowd in song,would he have gotten picked for the final two??
and im sick of everybody trying to make it like Andrea cant sing she has pipes! Just because she doesnt do all the runs & squalls (which is so played out) doesnt mean she cant sing! What kills me is that us black folks are so quick to point out when someone is discriminating against them because they arent of the same color yet we do the same thing!....not saying this competition was a matter of race....but alot of us need to start looking outside the norm! I'm pretty sure if the final vote was left up to the judges they would have voted for Andrea!

I'm with you Gospel Fan... I think Andrea held her own throughout the ENTIRE competition - moreso than Amber. The tough thing about having conversations about stuff like this is one usually have to disparage the other person to stress your point. I won't do that. I'm happy for Amber, but be clear - she should have NOT won the Sunday Best competition. Why Andrea didn't won is anyone's guess? Apparently the people have spoken. I have no doubts that Andrea was the better contestant. I think she's marketable. I think she a gifted singer. I'm done!
I was disappointed that Andrea did not win. I thought the "annoiting" that was mentioned by all the judges was overlooked in a major voting mistake. The voting situation was one hot mess, (1) because Amber and Andrea had Amber's voting phone number ending in 02, which was displayed on the first and second airing (2) most people probably did not realize this and voted erroneously (3) all phone numbers votes were supposed to be thrown out and you had to revote (who knew this?) (4) when my sister went to revote, she received a message that she had received her maximum and she could not revote (5) Amber appeared to be reading the winner card held by Kirk, (6) Andrea was rudely dismissed from the stage without so much as a simple remark (7) both should have been winners with the voting mix-up. It has happened and I wish both ladies well. Keep the faith in Jesus Christ and don't play with some of the foolish that religion can side track you with. Therefore let me rejoice that Go's work was done and if only one comes to Jesus, all is well and better for The One and Only God who is The Trinity.
2 words: AMBER BULLOCK. Oh yes also, the three judges need to GO. I wish Mary Mary would replay the performances and look at their nasty facial expressions towards the singers that they KNOW CAN SING. The two Mary's are so phony. Donnie is just as.unfair with his judging too. It bothers me that the judges CLEARLY try to sway the judging or unfairly PUMPS one (NOT NECESSARY THE BETTER SINGER) UP. It'a sooooo obvious. New judges are in order or just end the show. Let this be the last season.
I agree with don worry. Had Andrea Helms been black, she would have never made it out of the auditions. No doubt, she is an anointed singer, but she is more of a Sunday morning worship singer/song leader. She made a lot of mistakes, but was given a pass that was not given before on Sunday Best. Indeed she is an anointed singer, but so were a lot of other singers as well. The SB judging has been very inconsistent this year compared to the previous years. I remembered during season 2, the young lady who stuttered was anointed and could sing, but she was told no.. Even when Shari Addison was told that she was too churchy; but thank God that He had different plans for her life. Shari was the wild card favorite and look where God has elevated her to! The best two contestants were not in the 2011 finale. I've noticed that in the past, it is almost better if you lost; the loser had a more promising future that the winner. And people please don't get angry if someone else has an opinion different than yours. Though I may disagree with some, I do not have to be disagreeable. It is what it is. I wish Amber and Andrea the best! Just in my opinion, they were not the best two.

Andrea Helms should have won SB I do believe b/c of the phone lines mix up caused it but i do congratulate Amber Bullock. The difference between the 2 is very simple and has already been pointed out but even Pastor Shirley Ceasar saw the difference btwn the 2 singers. To amber she was tickled but her skills & runs with the mention of being annointed last. With Andrea is was annointed 1st. Thats the first thing I see btwn the two both are gifted by 1 was annointed in the gift of ministry w/ music. Not sure what DON WORRY is talking about artistry. If you singing about God in or outside the 4walls artistry should be last ministry first. Andrea lead by the annoiting and followed it. Amber lead by her gift and excited the crowd. Again which is why christian music outsells gospel b/c we've lost the gift of ministry over to gift & runs. The day of the voting Andrea let it all out while amber trying to be fancy with it which didnt work but what got me was while the audience was moved by aundrea song they wanted a praise break..aka michael pugh, momma sue & the elder but andrea kept it at worship.
Again congrats to Amber but still felt she was 2nd best not sunday best.....

I was disappointed that Andrea Helms did not win Sunday Best. America got it wrong and I mean way wrong. Anyone in their right mine knows that Amber was not the better singer. There was no anointing on the voice of Amber she was just singing. The First Lady wiped the floor with her. I am sure it was a black thing and that Amber is a single mother. But to GOD BE THE GLORY..We will see who sells the most music. Also you could see on Pastor Donnie's face he did not agree with the choice. WOW
Don't forget who the executive producers of Sunday Best are: Mary,Mary, Donnie and Kirk Franklin. So don't expect them to bow out of their judging duties anytime soon! They should have acknowledged that there was a problem with the voting during the show to reassure viewers of a fair process. Andrea was treated poorly and dismissed without even a "thank you." Sunday Best should award Andrea a recording contract as well.
PPL need to stop, im sure andrea was disappointed and yes in my spirit i feel she should have won, but she did. She knows her reward is in heaven and as unfair as it was on earth, Yawl know Amber needed that truck. Im sure GOD knew too, she struggling with that child, so Perhaps GOD knew Andrea wouldnt do well in the record industry envirnoment i mean it can b mad corrupt, plus as much as i'd like to think things are fair there not and would they even market Andrea right shes not really 'Gospel' in the traditional sense so perhaps if it were "GOSPEL BEST' the critics would have been diff. But hey I hope she does get a deal she's mad annointed even if CC doesnt see.
i think everybody is wrong LOL. because the ONLY reason MONICA smith is not still up there is b/c she wasn't trying to sell her soul. she was lyrically gifted, could BLOW had range and EVERYNOTE was hit, she supposedly didnt have style. OK. But she put EVERYBODY to shame! but folks wasn't getting with her cuz she was too churchy! HMMM? i thought this was the CHURCH! LOL anyway its all good.
Congrats Amber! Just to be clear...Andrea didn't win because she didn't have enough votes. I think if it were up to the judges at this point, Andrea probably would have won because of her connect with the judges (but what did God say). I liked Andrea also and as mentioned, the two had two different styles. I hope Amber gets the resources she needs to develop as singer, her voice is soooo beautiful already, but I don't want her to fall by the wayside! Her voice reminds me of Kim Burrell, yeah I said it. On the other hand, it was so good to hear the ladies do the tribute, especially LeAndria!
I am watching the playback right now and the production of this show (in general) and this particular episode in particular is, in a word, TRIFLING! Did they even try to have any continuity between the tapings? For example, when Amber and Andrea are singing, Mary Mary are in purple tops and black pants. When the trio of SB winners are singing, Mary Mary are in white dresses. I thought the idea was that this finale happened all at once, correct? You know what? I blame myself for expecting some level of competence from BET. And a quick note about the previous winners: no question they can all sing and squall and riff and buck and all that. So it would seem that anyone who did anything different than that had NO CHANCE of winning. Amber is a slight difference from this pattern but not by too much... the ENTERTAINMENT in song is so obvious with her, though.... the ministering in song is either not a priority for her or it is completely non-existent. Oh well....
We've had three years of "Amber Bullock's" in the contest. I want someone to win that sings and worships the God that I serve. I'm not hating on Amber, but I could eventually see her being the next Jill Scott, not Yolanda Adams. Andrea Helms is a worshipper and that is what we need more of in today's Gospel music. I don't want to bounce, jiggle, and dance. I want musice that ushers me into the presence of my God and Andrea was the person to do it. It is my hope and prayer that a record label gives her a record deal like they did for Jessica Reedy. Music Execs out there, there are Black people that enjoy good, pure and honest worship music and if you make it we will come and buy it. Andrea Helms and her voice remind me of CeCe Winans or a Crystal Lewis. God bless both of you, but I want to hear from Andrea!!
BOTTOM LINE IS Amber Bullock won because GOD CHOSE HER AS THE WINNER OF SUNDAY BEST and not Andrea Helms. So if you have a problem with our girl AMBER, you can do nothing because its GOD who has planted her in that position.She is anointed for this Industry so if you are still like she should not have won blablabla..........., go steam some lettuce and drink potatoes soup and you'll be fine. This is a perfect example of how Humans always "TRY TO FIGHT GODS WILL" , its intact.You cannot fight his will and am glad GOD doesnt seek mans opinion to bless his children even think about yourself.Did GOD ask people B4 he blessed you??? NO and be glad coz some folk would say you dont deserve it and that's what is happening to AMBER but girl Keep your head up high!!!
I decided not to watch the final episode of Sunday Best. First of all, when it comes to worshipping and praising my GOD, all fakeness and phoniness MUST be removed. Andrea is a worshipper and I felt that she really LOVES to worship. Amber on the other hand, is a singer. She twould mention that often in the snippet of interviews and even when Donnie once told that if she started to sing the song again that the house would just go up in PRAISE. WOW!!! she didn't pick up on that because she is NOT a worshipper!!! If we truly look at the background of the host and judges, we might find they really only want SINGERS and not REAL worshippers. But as for me and my house, WE DO SERVE THE LORD. TO GOD BE THE GLORY !!!!!
I truly enjoyed the skills by Amber. However, I'm not sure how voters base their decisions but for me, there was nothing spiritual about Amber. Actually, it looked as though she was running away from the times when the spirit took over the place. She was not connected. I felt the annointing in Andrea and she presented skills in her singing as well. I believe that the winner of this type of competition should be one that is committed to the Gospel industry and not one that can sing gospel but don't really know why their doing so. Amber had no idea why people were touched during her song presentations - she just "did her jazzy thing". But that does not mean that she is a gospel singer. This type of competition is viewed by many true worshippers. To see someone sing a gospel song without spiritual connection and win such a competition that even the judges say is not average sends audiences the wrong message. My opinion - if you are going to be a gospel singer - let gospel reign in your heart. I don't think it is for Amber. However, I do wish her the best in her endeavors.

Congratulations to Amber she deserves the champiuonship whether she was black or white, I chose her bcuz she can sing and bcuz she was black! THATs right I said it, black women need a break, I do not see anyone that is black winning on dancing with the stars, maybe Andrea should try out for that show, sometimes we need to learn to stay in our lanes ANDREA, and I found her to be a bit stuck up like the world owed her something!

Amber won because she had the most votes. Maybe she has more people in her church than Andrea does. I'm assuming she even goes to church. The people who win these competitions much like the judges have no relationship with God. They end up singing gospel because its the only market that will readily accept them. Let's keep it real many people on the Andrea bandwagon wouldn't have bought her cd anyway so get over it. Hopefully the people who voted for Amber will purchase her cd, but that's doubtful since church folks rather buy Lil Wayne cd's.

Yes God is in Control I won't argue with that...but the people voted her in and it may very will be God permissive will but not His Will...just because she has been voted by man as Sunday's Best who are we to judge that she is or not the Best. Sunday Best is a tv show made by people who feel that they have arrived and have the right to judge others...judge lest we be judged. Amber was a good singer; but Andrea was an worshipper and they that worship can only worship n spirit and in truth.
