On TV: Steve Harvey Shares Heart On TBN
by EJ on Oct.06, 2009 at 12:45 pm, under Christian
If you missed the hit show Praise The Lord on TBN last night, I’m begging you to watch it online today.
This is not to be sensational, nor am I merely writing something so that I can have blog content. My wife and I just watched the episode on DVR, overcome with emotion and tears THROUGHOUT the one-on-one chat between Pastor Donnie McClurkin and Steve Harvey. My heart rejoices over Steve Harvey’s life– ALL of it– and I am left speechless by what we witnessed on our television set. I have never seen anything like it.
I had intended to recap and summarize what Steve said, but I fear that doing so will minimize the value and impact of his words.
I just need you to watch it. PLEASE watch it.
Click here to view in low video quality, click here for medium video quality, and click here for high quality.
Or, you can visit the TBN archives page at http://tbn.org/watch-us/archives.

It was very moving. I’m not a Steve Harvey fan, but I appreciated his testimony of how far God has brought him. We all have to crawl before we can walk, etc. I’d like to see Steve’s life exemplify more of Christ, especially in his comedy, and we should pray for that transformation.
October 6th, 2009 on 1:23 pm
Ok, EJ. Be honest did you and your wife let a Holy Ghost tear drop out. Something got a hold of me, oh yes it did.
October 6th, 2009 on 1:35 pm
Now that is what I’m talking about! Religion free! God is so awesome! I love the real honest approach to Jesus and life. I think we have all seen enough “religion” and of the hypocrites.
God bless Steve Harvey!

GOD SAID IF YOURE LUKEWARM HE WILL SPEW YOU OUT OF HIS MOUTH!!!! CHOOSE A SIDE PLAYBOY! YOU CANT HAVE THE WORLD AND HAVE THE CHURCH! I PRAY SH WILL LET GO OF THE WORLD AND CLING TO THE WORD AND ACCEPT CHRIST AS HIS LORD AND SAVIOR! I PRAY HE’S NOT LOOKIN FOR ACCEPTANCE FROM THE CHURCH WHILE STAYING IN HIS CURRENT LIFESTYLE. THATS WHAT MOST FENCE STRADDLERS DO

This was sooo moved by this last night!
Paula White also spoke a word for my LIFE!

I LOVE those who LOVE God…
October 6th, 2009 on 2:13 pm
We can’t put God in a box. The interview was amazing. Steve was able to reach so many people on so many levels. The church needs to wake up and dispell religion and tradition then we will reach more of the Steve Harvey’s. Don’t trip God is not through with him yet.
October 6th, 2009 on 2:14 pm
Amen Souled Out!
October 6th, 2009 on 2:24 pm
SOME OF YALL NEED TO WAKE UP! NO BODY WHO IS STILL CURRENTLY LIVIN IN SIN AND NOT REPENTANT AND CHANGING THEIR WAYS IS NOT SAVED!! AND NOT SAVING OR HELPING ANYONE ELSE. ITS TOO MANY PEOPLE WHO ARE SHAPING AND SHIFTING GOD TO FIT THEIR BELIEFS AND THEIR DESIRES FOR HOW THEY WANT TO PRAISE HIM, WELL I ONLY GO WITH THE BIBLE!! THE WORD OF GOD!! PEOPLE PLEASE DO NOT GET SUCKED INTO A TRICK OF THE ENEMY! TBN IS ONE OF THE MOST IF NOT THE MOST COMPROMISED “CHRISTIAN” NETWORK OUT!! I WOULDNT GO ON THERE IF THEY PAYED ME!! YOU RELIGOUS PEOPLE REALLY KILL ME!!
October 6th, 2009 on 2:27 pm
Appreciate what you are saying however, I am a prodigal. I accepted Jesus in my 30′s and then walked away from Him for ten years!!! In the pig slop for ten years. If it were not for God’s mercy and grace I would be dead! Have a little mercy. God is working on the man can’t you see? Pray for him!
October 6th, 2009 on 2:28 pm
“We can’t put God in a box. The interview was amazing. Steve was able to reach so many people on so many levels. The church needs to wake up and dispell religion and tradition then we will reach more of the Steve Harvey’s. Don’t trip God is not through with him yet.”
THIS IS JUST WHAT IM TALKIN BOUT! GOD SAYS IF YOUR LUKEWARM HE WILL SPEW YOU OUT! THIS DUDE MAKES A DVD TITLED “DONT TRIP, HE AINT THRU WITH ME YET” AND THE WHOLE COMEDY IS A MOCKERY OF THE CHURCH?!? BUT GUESS WHAT, RELIGOUS FOLKS EAT IT UP! WHY? THEY HAVE NO STANDARD FOR THE WORD OF GOD! STEVE HARVEY WANTS MORE OF YOU CHUUCH PEOPLES BUSINESS SO ALL HE HAS TO DO IS CLAIM TO HAVE SOME KIND OF RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD, THE DEVIL KNOW THE WORD JUST LIKE GOD CREATED IT! JUDGING BY HIS FRUITS…….I CANT CONCLUDE HE IS A TRUE FOLLOWER OF THE JESUS CHRIST WHO I SERVE!
October 6th, 2009 on 2:32 pm
I will admit at first I was like what is going on with this…but only God really knows ones heart. I was the worst of sinners and nothing will ever seperate me from the love of Jesus. God’s mercy on me is just too awesome for words. Jesus is my everything.
October 6th, 2009 on 2:33 pm
its a difference between believing god is helping a sinner, and saying that this sinner is helping people on so many levels? what is he helping people do??? continue to live how they want and think that they can abuse grace and mercy until they want to change?? PLEASE stop!!
October 6th, 2009 on 2:36 pm
i do feel you on some of the last statement. i was a terrible sinner too but when i gave my life to christ i couldnt comfortably go back like a dog to my vomit! people always say only god knows their heart and this is true. but most times people wont admit that they know themselves their heart aint right
October 6th, 2009 on 2:47 pm
Hopefully he will choice soon who he will serve. I have not followed his life so what I saw last night is it. I have watched his show years ago. We can only hope and pray that he will repent (means to change). God’s love never fails.
October 6th, 2009 on 4:54 pm
I am so glad to see that this affected others too! His testimony was truly powerful – it bought me to tears, firstly because I had discerned his heart transformation sometime ago. I too am in the entertainment industry. I am a Minister, however if it weren’t for my direct one on one relationship with my Lord and Savior, I don’t know where I would be, because when I turned to the cheurch when I didn’t know what else to do (several times) every single time, they turned there back on me or made me feel worst than I did because I didn’t have tenure in the church. My worst pain have come from memories in the church. But God is good, when he calls you, there is nothing you can do about it. In the end, this is not about us, but it’s about our assignment, not about faith to get the blessing, but it’s having faith to lay all aside and fulfill the assignment – knowing that if you give it all up for him, like he said in Mark, no one has given up all they had and followed but I will bless him in this life and well as in Heaven. How dare someone challenge Steve Harvey’s relationship with Christ. We are all working out our own salvation with fear and trembling. We are all being perfected.
October 6th, 2009 on 5:00 pm
But let me also make this, of course it is sooooo important to have the revelation that we are to be obedient to the Word of God. We can’t actually walk in that until we have relevation. I have never met anyone who gave their life to Christ and had immediate revelation of obedience in all areas of their life. Only Jesus is perfect. Either that or one refuses to look at the new areas of growth that they need to deal with. Trust me God will also show you some new impurities – just as soon as you’ve thought you’ve overcome sin. (smile). Praise God he’s a refiner of silver and gold. I don’t know about you, but I still haven’t gotten to the point where I can begin to pick splinters out of other folks eyes. I just better stick to working out my own salvation with fear and trembling – then we’ll be all good. Amen?
October 6th, 2009 on 5:01 pm
I watched this broadcast last night and it was so God all up in it. Hearing Steve’s testimony was truth and moving. Just because we’re saved and act as though we don’t mess up, that in its self is a lie, and how different are you really from those that’s not walking consistently with GOD. It’s not good to judge people the bible states that, by the same measure you also will be judge. Jesus didn’t judge he lead by example and gave it to you the way you can receive it. I thank God for Steve and give all the glory to GOD the Father because Jesus and the Holy Spirit is working on Steve and until God gets him to where He wants him,(not where man want him or think he should be) Steve is being transformed and being made into the Man God created for him to be. Glory be to GOD for all He’s doing IN and Through Steve. Keep doing what you do Steve, Keep God first and he will complete the work he started in you……
October 6th, 2009 on 5:03 pm
Yep, Paul said the very things you point out about others doing wrong are the very things you do yourself
October 6th, 2009 on 5:10 pm
Here’s the thing…there is only one truth and ONE answer to the truth. We can’t be righteous of ourselves. Our righteousness if I’m correct is as filthy rags. We are to put on the robe of righteousness. God when he looks at us sees Jesus and his righteousness, not ours lest any man should boast. We cannot be righteous in ourselves. Also we understand we have to repent, but if we make mistakes his is faith and just to forgive us of our sins if we confess and repent. I think the downfall is that the church over preaches mercy, grace and longsuffering but they forget the punchline that spoken in Roman 4 that saids that God’s longsuffering was meant to bring us to repentance AND that if we don’t repent all of this longsuffering will be turned into wrath against us on the day of judgement. I believe that’s some important info to keep in mind when you out there messing up over and over again….
October 6th, 2009 on 5:11 pm
@Meleneal Cameron: You hit the nail on the head for me, especially as it relates to our ongoing sanctification. The “Steve Harvey” that we see today is in a totally different place than the “Steve Harvey” from even 5 years ago. And it’s because of the work that God is doing in his life, according to HIS Sovereign Will and timing. I can’t hate on any part of that. All I can do is pray and thank God for His faithfulness!
Thank you for your comment– VERY refreshing for me to see.
October 6th, 2009 on 6:00 pm
What was shown was so beautiful!! A lot of times we think that we’ve “arrived” with God, there is no such thing.God is doing so much and have put on my heart sometime ago to pray for those in all facets of entertainment. There are so many that wont go into into a church, but they will still be touched from unexpected places.
October 6th, 2009 on 6:12 pm
@Francine, that was me – The Holy Spirit is real and he does teach us all truth, because that’s the only way I got to know Jesus – all I ever was to church members it seemed was a means to some recognition – “Oh, Sister Such-in-so bought you to church well good for you! , Then they look (down on me) and say “you gone come back?” Stay outta trouble now” or I would be introduced as “someone’s fruit.” But instinctively I knew God was real and I wanted to know him, and I pursued him, just so happened the only way I knew how was to meditate day and night in the Word and that’s where the relationship began. I do go to church today, I love to fellowship and worship, but I also see it for what it is. Jesus said go ahead let the tares and wheat grow up together, he’ll do the separating in the end.

I was was in bed early because I was not feeling so I decided to put it on TBN while I drifted off, when I heard that the next section Steve Harvey would be on. I thank God for allowing me to hear and witness one of the most touching and soul stirring human forms of love exhibited by a real man (Steve Harvey). It was as momentous for me as the announcement that Baraak Obama was President.
I know our heavenly Father, host of angels, 24 Elders, and those saints that are in the grand stands (including Steve’s own Mama) had a hallelujah time rejoicing. Watching their very own share important knowlege to the church.
Yes…I won’t forget last night!
Thanks you, Steve for allowing your mom’s legacy to be shared through you!
October 6th, 2009 on 6:33 pm
Hey Steve, I really enjoyed you on TBN, people will never understand you, I saw the Holy Spirit taking control of you. When you were testifying and crying, I was in front of the TV saying, “Have Your Way Lord” and “Yes Lord”, Steve it’s alright to cry. Steve when there is no one you can get in touch with to pray for you; just call on the name of Jesus. Steve it seems that people sometimes do not think actors, stars, and entertainers are human. Steve I always tell God to keep me because I want to be kept. I will tell God the same for you. This is the time for everyone to seek God’s Face. I will keep you in my prayers along with other entertainers.
October 6th, 2009 on 6:42 pm
Here’s another scripture “Church Folk” typically have not heard:
Isaiah 65:5 – but I’ll start at 3: A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face, that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick, 4: Which remain among the graves and lodge in the monuments, which eat swines flesh, and broth of abominable things is in their vessels; 5: WHICH SAY, STAND BY THYSELF, COME NOT NEAR ME, FOR I AM HOLIER THAN THOU. THESE ARE A SMOKE IN MY NOSE (SAYETH THE LORD) A FIRE THAT BURNETH ALL DAY.
October 6th, 2009 on 8:26 pm
I enjoyed Steve Harvey on TBN last night. I encourage him to continue to seek the Lord and He will do a new thing in him. Be encouraged!
October 6th, 2009 on 10:00 pm
I’m gonna have a different perspective on this one and please do not think I am judging here because we are no different than Steve, and we are all sinners saved by grace. However, just because you are saying words on a public stage does not mean much because your life has to show it.
With that said, hopefully as he walks with the Lord, he will be surrounded with those who he can be accountable to and to be discipled as a Christian.
October 6th, 2009 on 10:58 pm
To LuLu, I ain’t trying to come at you funny, but I’m going to be 100 with you. Exactly what you are doing is why blacks, whites, gays, and people like me will run away from the church. I am so sick of these so called christians taking what they believe to be the authority of God and using it to be plain ole jerks. Get your life at 100. Never have a bad thought and never slip. Never have to take baby steps and then I might listen to your hypocrital ways. Before we analyze the Bible and thus said the lord this and that, how about we realize that this is a new season. Real people struggle and real people just ain’t always ready. That don’t mean that their time won’t come and that God ain’t still working. This type of stuff takes my anger to a new level yo. Just because what you’re saying maybe right don’t mean your preaching it the right way, get it together.
October 6th, 2009 on 11:26 pm
I would love to hear Steve Harvey as a full time preacher. Prayer is such a powerful tool. Let’s pray for him! Many of my favorite speakers at church are able to explain and retell events from different perspectives in a way that people understand, relate to, and enjoy….that’s the talent. He will just have to learn to ignore the adversary that pops up at church. Look what they did to Jesus!People will criticize you when you are right or wrong. I always tell my friends that at the end of each day, consider the Lord’s evaluation of you. God knows your heart, actions, and address. That’s all that matters.
I was moved when he mentioned how his mother taught him. Women of God have a promise from the Lord about their children.
Proverbs 1:8-9 ( Yep! Look it up.)
October 6th, 2009 on 11:44 pm
@Katydid, thanks for reminding me of Proverbs 1:8-9. I needed that, I got 2 boys in my house girl and I’m tellin ya – I’ll continue to talk to God about them…..
October 7th, 2009 on 1:43 am
Everything Steve did on TBN was from the heart actually he was crying out when he said he called TD jakes but he’s too busy so he reached out to Donnie & others. The problem is this have you ever been in church and someone comes in feels the move of God and is overwhelmed by the move of God but when they leave the church they go back to their old life style then months latter there back in church crying again then as soon as they leave there back to their old ways and this cycle keeps up until the person finally surrenders all to God? As shirley ceasar put “they ain’t playin this time” I said all that to say this again what happen to Steve Harvey was real he was crying out from his heart and based on what I saw on tbn he’s tired of living 2 lives one way in front of church folks the other in front of the world. I saw his part 2 of still trippin and was shocked that he was cussing b/c i thought he was saved. Steve knows it’s wrong but the money of life is so desireable & where he is now he has to make money to maintain that lifesstyle and based on where he came from to go backwards a little bit is unexceptable. So the issue for steve is will he finally except & trust God fully or will he continue to take the mammon aka money. For there record steve is always overwhelmed when he goes to a christian program it’s called conviction. Again he’s crying out, i’m not excited about what I saw b/c I saw it at megafest. I’m pulling 4 him this time not to loose what he just recieve run with it and watch what God will do. Steve is actually a preacher running from his calling, many are called but few choose to except the calling. I pray that he goes to a stable church who won’t treat him special b/c who he is but is kinda like kirk franklins pastor and let him sit in the back of the church as if he was a regular member. Let’s all pray that he finally comes to God fully not just when he’s on camera. Yes it’s hard but Jesus said I am a rewarder of them that dilegentyly seek him. If you want it bad enough, deliverance, healing, finances, education, love ones you name it the question is how bad do you want it? Thats the question for steve harvey how bad do you want it?
October 7th, 2009 on 7:57 am
@ Jay–I hope and pray when he is crying’ out to the Lord it is sincere and not for a publicity opportunity. I’m not questioning his walk, because we all have to grow as well.
You know, Harvey can impact the entertainment industry and his comedian friends (Cedric, Wanda, Mo’Nique) by being a Christian witness, and a total one on his show and his actions.
October 7th, 2009 on 8:44 am
Steve needs prayers, mercy and love. I think we have all tasted of God’s mercy and love and how good it truly is! The entertainment industry surely does need God. Kimberly Daniels book Prayers that bring change has some POWERFUL prayers that DO bring change of which there is a prayer for the entertainment folks.
October 7th, 2009 on 10:46 am
Awesome testimony. SH is the epitome of christian witnessing. SH is right in the middle of God’s hand and God is going to do more wonderful things in his life. I love you SH. Thank you for being for real and transparent.
October 7th, 2009 on 11:12 am
I saw part of the show praise the lord with Steve Harvey and it touched home i could relate
i alwasys like STEVE and thought the was doen to earth
October 7th, 2009 on 11:15 am
I always like Steve and thought he was down to earth
October 7th, 2009 on 11:35 am
I belive Steve Harvey is trying to change I’ve watched his stand up for years and the old Steve would only mention GOD at the being of his show when he would say “God is everything” then go into cussing like there was no tommorow, but my problem with him know is that yes he’s trying to be a good christian but I’ve never once heard him say he was saved and his stand up now may have some good biblical things here and there but it dosen’t say I’m saved and walking with Jesus (and yes there is a difference). On his “Still Trippin” dvd every other word was a cuss word and no not just the 4 letter words. Yes i know his radio show his cuss-free and i commend him for that because most of them are not but when is his stand up going to reflect his new life because that’s what draws a lot of people to him
October 7th, 2009 on 11:52 am
SH is a lukewarm. It is just difficult to fully believe SH. I mean he wrote a book promoting dating and even got on Oprah and talked about the “90 day rule”. Promoting fornication. Just seems kind of hypocritical to me.
October 7th, 2009 on 12:37 pm
The interview was very good. I think Steve has come along way however I also think he knows how to play to his respective audience .
October 7th, 2009 on 12:39 pm
The Love of God Leads all man to repentance. When we are saved our spirit is renewed but our mind is the same as before. The walk is all about renewing our mind to God’s thoughts. And while we understand his thoughts are higher than ours we need to keep our minds renewed daily. We do not know everything instantaniously therefore we are not mature Christians. No, we are born babies. So lets let the brother grow up a little and love him while he is. Yes that takes correction. But watch his reactions as he speaks. He struggles with not saying things that dont glorify God. THat means he is recognizing and transforming right beforre our eyes. THat is God working. God blesss you Steve. I love you. And I love ur suits.
October 7th, 2009 on 12:53 pm
Some people are just as ignorant as they come. It is so sad that a video as powerful as this can be minized by the thoughts of a simple minded individual. Yes I am speaking to NO COMPARISON. I am pretty sure that you are NO COMPARISON to being the hypocrite that you are. Only God can judge Steve and all of us as a matter of fact.
Spare your us with your 3rd grade ideology and see the picture for what he is today. Don’t trip…God is constantly working on all of us. Even hypocrites as yourslf. Be empowered and Be ETERNAL.
I live you with this quote to ponder on: “Hypocrisy in anything whatever may deceive the cleverest and most penetrating man, but the least wide-awake of children recognizes it, and is revolted by it, however ingeniously it may be disguised”. -L. Adonis
October 7th, 2009 on 12:54 pm
I also caught Steve Harvey on TBN the other night and I was also moved by him until he made one particular comment. I had about 4 friends over the house that night, 2 of whom are gay. When Steve said that “every real man should have a woman in their life,” and kind of hinted that if you didn’t, than you weren’t a real man, I watched the look on my friends’ faces. It totally turned them off and it’s a shame because they were in Steve’s corner every bit of the way up until that point. The way the audience reacted to that statement was even worse. The wildly applauded, which further turned them off. I’ll probably get flack for this from some of ya’ll, but I still had to post it. Whether or not people agree, I really think the church has a LONG way to go in terms of accepting people and allowing God to do what ever it is he has to do in their lives without trying to be God themselves and condemn people.
October 7th, 2009 on 1:53 pm
boy i tell you, jesus is soon to return and people still sleeping. i dnt really care who gets upset or what you have to say due to me telling the truth!! a lot of people on here talkin bout oh i was so touched and so moved, i watched some of that interview. steve harvey had to justify himself everytime he talked about something he does by saying “mines out in the open, yalls is in the house” what kind of crap is that??? its too many people who have respect of persons and put it above the truth! steve harvey wants to be around christians who watered down and not gon tell him the real, he’s just like a lot of unsaved people who ready to jump down and say you judging me, why cant you accept me like i am, god is in everyone! get outta here!! YOU CANT SERVE GOD AND THE WORLD!!! its not possible, the only way he gon truly be saved is if he leave the world alone! as long as he’s governed by the love of money its gon be easier for a camel to go thru the eye of a needle than for him to be saved!!
October 7th, 2009 on 1:56 pm
hey l. adonis, its no compromising, as in im not gon compromise my walk, my relationship with god for no one! and dont care and dont mind tellin the truth at all cost! im not a fence straddler so guess what? i can call one when i see one! i pray you’re not one yourself
October 7th, 2009 on 2:11 pm
Who are we to judge? We are have our own internal battles to deal with. I am quite sure that you are not without sin and if by chance you are, you already know what you should do.
What i am saying is that we ought to reach out to brothers like Steve and not dwell in the past so much. Christians (primarily) has the tendency to judge without looking in the mirror. You’re compromising your walk but judging the action of another being. You’re not God and only he has the ability to do so.
I would hope you don’t share these values with people who look up to you because you’re contradicting your true self and God’s words. Deal with your internal battles rather than blasting Steve or anyone else that is “borderline” with God. Also, this is a tool that can bring so many people closer to God if the ignorance of self doesn’t get involved. There is no place in the word of God for elementary mind sets. So please, until your life is perfect, be true to self . You’re the one that has to answer to God for being so judgemental of his children. Are you comfortable looking in the mirror? Be strong in all you do and again, Be ETERNAL!
October 7th, 2009 on 2:25 pm
Pardon the grammatical errors. I’m at work and I truly can’t give my all to this thread. NO COMPARISON, I’m not taking a jab at you personally but at your ideology of being a believer. Please forgive me if I stepped on your toes…wasn’t attempting too.
October 7th, 2009 on 2:42 pm
e.j. i agree that steve’s interview was something that people should see for themselves…i felt that Steve was being authentic with what he was saying…he was not condoning that fact that he uses profanity, he acknowledged that it is wrong…regardless of what our personal opinions our it’s a fact that he does give God glory daily on his show and he points people to God not Steve Harvey..i found some of the comments on this site to be exactly what he was talking about regarding people riding so high up on their horse ….the bible says in 1 Corinthians 10:12 “therefore let anyone who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall”
God is working on all of us and we need to pray for others as well as ourselves and drop the stones.
October 7th, 2009 on 2:56 pm
l adonis.
what you’re saying doesnt affect or surprise me in the least, you can coddle people all you want rather thn telling them the truth and letting the truth which is gods word do the rest! i dont do it and i wont do it, i dont judge anyone who is of the world because thats not my place to judge the world. but any man who says he is of christ i must examine by his fruits! i stick with the truth which is gods word!! you can continue to stick with what ever it is that you do, which seems to be stroking sinners and telling them its gon be alright. its a difference between accepting christ and living a life relflective of it, and wanted to be accepted because you dont wanna stop doin what you wanna do and have jesus/god at the same time! you can only go one of two ways, god or satan!time is too short and the persecution of the true believers is definitely drawing nigh. cant be no in between when they tell you to take the mark or DIE

I too watched TBN and when I saw that Steve was going to be on, I intentionally watched. I know that this man is going through a transformation, and if it doesn’t look like what No Compromisin’ and others think it should look like, then so be it. I remember hearing the call of God in college, while I was still drinking and smoking. So as I battled with it, and struggled with what to do, I said ok, I will drink on Fridays but not on Saturday nights because I want to go to church and be present. Seriously, that was my first step. (and I was raised in church!!) Guess what? God honored by humanness in my decision to leave my lifestyle behind. The more I heard God’s word and OBEYED it, the more I had no desire for other things. Maybe some people had a Damascus experience, and that’s cool, but don’t expect everyone to be like that. What we need to know is that as we continue to love people (love does not mean condone unholiness) but it does mean showing compassion and mercy and allowing only the Holy Spirit to do the work we so desperately wish we could do. Steve said when he honored Christ with his mouth at Megafest, something changed….. Hear his heart when he speaks. What 52 year old man needs to come on TBN and cry just to impress us? He needs nothing from the Christian community, except acceptance.
The tears we saw and that were referenced above come from the overwhelming of the Holy Spirit. Steve understands and knows that there is something greater than himself at work right now. But after you have lived away from God, it takes some time to understand what is happening to you. When the church operates with grace, it doesn’t mean acceptance without rebuke. But it does mean, I still love you, and I don’t turn my back on you when you falter.
The people that see him in the industry know that a change has taken place. It actually started when one of the young men on his show was killed several years ago. Then Bernie Mac was a harsh jolt. For some of us, God uses circumstances to gently show himself to us. No Compromisin’ you might very well have the truth, no one is saying that the facts you state are wrong, but everyone does not get to this destination the same way. Jesus IS returning soon as you stated, and he is calling those whom he will. I believe Steve Harvey is poised to answer his call. Whatever that may be. Obvious God’s grace is at work, because he is coming into the knowledge of him. Ephesians 4 is all about equipping the saints until they are FULLY mature in Christ. That means it’s a process. There’s no way you can be as mature at 20 as you will be at 50, so there has to be some growth that takes place. Why don’t we give praises to God for the work he is doing, and pray that he will do it in others in the entertainment industry. I expect that we will see more coming to Christ very soon. God bless you Steve. Praying for you!
October 7th, 2009 on 3:24 pm
When it pertains to those who are mature in the Lord by all means. By the mercy and grace of God here I stand. How do you know if by showing mercy on someone that God will snatch them from going to hell? Like I have said God has poured out His awesome mercy on me and today I have fallen in Love with Jesus. The only thing we can do is pray. And that is a great thing! Prayers work. Love bears all things believes all things Love never fails. He who is without sin cast the first stone… As I also mentioned I am a prodigal …out there in my sin. During that time God was calling me back to Him. And here I am by the grace mercy and love of Jesus Christ!!!
October 7th, 2009 on 3:31 pm
Even though I did NOT deserve God’s mercy BUT He showed me His great mercy and it saved my soul and the soul of my seed and everyone connected to my blood line is blessed and so on and so on…so it turns out that it was not just for me but for many others including me.
October 7th, 2009 on 4:01 pm
Lulu, actually I wasnt referencing any statement you made. But we can dialogue.
Who said that showing mercy on someone would snatch them from hell? One has nothing to do with the other. It has to do with the fact that I am not God, but as his ambassador in the Earth, I am to show mercy. End of statement. I also test people by their fruits, but I believe that is an internal test so that I do not follow a false teacher. It’s not a PUBLIC test with the intent to ridicule or judge. I must also discern the Spirits. And though we don’t like it, some things are just not for me to decide. Now I do believe that we are given authority to try the Spirits that would set themselves up in the body of Christ and intentionally try to deceive others by mixing error with truth. In those instances, we are to stand boldly and not allow others or ourselves to be led astray. I just don’t think this is one of those instances.
October 7th, 2009 on 4:15 pm
The Lord commanded us to be holy as He is holy, to be “holy in every aspect of (our) conduct” (see 1 Pt 1:15-16). Holiness is the very character of God, and our heavenly Father wants His children to act and look like Him. We are called to be a “holy nation” (1 Pt 2:9), and the Lord is coming back a final time for a holy Church, “holy and immaculate, without stain or wrinkle or anything of that sort” (Eph 5:27). Without holiness, we cannot go to heaven and see God (Heb 12:14).
October 7th, 2009 on 5:46 pm
The LORD separates out a real emotional experience from the true work of the Holy Spirit. So many Chrisitians have made them equal. “The word of GOD is alive and powerful, sharper than any two edged sword; dividing assunder soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4th chapter. Only GOD knows what is going on in Steve’s heart. We can examine the fruit of his life. I have seen SH do this before; cry and basically call the church hypocrites because some of them hurt his feelings with his percieved rejection of his life and choices. The church will ALWAYS have hypocrites, (where else are you supposed to find them?). Steve must do as all true believers must; Choose the narrow road that leads to life; the wide road leads to destruction and many therebe that find it. Yes, we should pray for him. On SH’s part he has a choice to make.
October 8th, 2009 on 9:20 am
Good Morning.
I am just reading this thread as it was just sent to me a few minutes ago. I just want to say that I bless God for those on here who can reach out in love to a brother – any brother – who is trying to find his way in God. I even bless God for those “Christians” on here who have always had it together and can come down hard on someone who is trying.
Yes, Steve Harvey, like most of us, has a way to go in his Spiritual growth and development. There will be some statemenst he (as well as you and I) will make that will not always reflect Christ. Heck, look at some of the “condemnation” brought on by Christians on here already. No one knows what is in the hearts of men and quite frankly, you don’t know what’s in mine except for what your perceive based on this writing.
What I’m saying is, before we push SH over in hell, we need to pray for ourselves, him and all those Christians encounter and stop tryig this oneupmanship with God’s Word, grace and mercy. We have NO monopoly on either. Let’s pray that SH finds some good teaching, some Christians who will make him accountable as they are accountable and that his language will show this change. Come on folks, some of us did stop whatever it was we were doing once we got saved. Some of us did not. And some of us have not. We are all still in recovery.
1 Corinthians 1:27
John 8:6-10
Romans 1:22
2 Timothy 3:5
Just remember folks, some of those stones you carry weigh way more than you imagine. DROP THEM!!!
I love each of you with the love of Christ. Now go out and walk (and live) in your calling and anointing.
Chauncy
P.S. Glenda, THANK YOU!!!

I appreciate the diverse comments shared. Let me start by saying I have alot of ups and downs in this Christian walk. Sometimes I am “convinced” I am saved and walking in the path of everlasting and other days I have these sad, pity-filled, insecure moments of unworthiness – other times I have tears of joy and thanksgiving that I can only describe as overwhelming gratitude that rush in like a flood! Sometimes I cry for no apparent reason-I am not crazy…just human and having a “moment …And this is just MY Life I am talking about! It is challenging enough to stay in this race and endure to the end…and we must keep the ultimate goal of FINISHING STRONG at the top of the list of priorities-but has anyone spoken about the role of the TEN COMMANDMENTS?!? It is a wonderful HONOR to serve as GOD’s extended arms, legs, mouth, heart, for/to HIS people in this life/season. There is no Doubt we all need to Ask GOD’s forgiveness of our sins (thought/actions/motives) and then PRAY unselfishly! We must be transparent with GOD and man while EXERCISING our BELIEF. Many of us “say” we love GOD; and “desire” / “appear” to be Christ-like – Ah, but let’s keep things in context: ALL have SECRET sin that no one but GOD knows! Please see Romans 8 (…in us dwelleth NO good thing!) Which brings me to this FACT: I do not know what is in the heart of SH…for sure Christ knows us better than we know ourselves and I am NOT confused about the fact that until we are in a situation, we have NO idea how we will react/respond. I have to work with this hand that I have been dealt just as each of you and SH has to do. However, in my yearning for wisdom and my learning about GOD, I have discovered this: to really Love HIM I need to love HIS people…to really love HIM, I need to, at times, do as David did…Encourage myself; to really love HIM…I had to realize that people are Fair Weathered and can’t get me to Glory—I am on the Road to Maturity recognizing only GOD can transform me. IMPORTANT ‘Ah-Ha’ Moment: People are the key to Growth and many other areas of our lives…they can be the answer, the problem, the abrasive one, the good, the challenge, etc. – it is all in how the eyes of an individual “SEES” them. How do you see things? I have adopted this TRUTH: when we finally learn how to LIVE, LOVE, and ACCEPT people, life will become much sweeter and the depth of your tolerance, relationships and understanding much deeper– more rewarding — and far GREATER! The “world’s” system / laws / morals may change and be uncertain — but the Word of GOD remains the same: What is, What Was and Is to Come. Let’s love folks to life…! SH is just one of many folks we pass, interact with, observe, minister alongside, speak to, on a regular basis – or maybe just “see” on the screen…our ministry is in the field but we can miss a blessing by being too analytical – everyone is in a different stage of their walk and if their heart is softened due to a testimony of another let’s be mindful that GOD and the Holy Spirit are at work…not the “man” SH. I pray GOD supply the needs of ALL HIS people, helping us to BELIEVE, GROW, ACCEPT, LOVE and become EQUIPPED by dying to the flesh DAILY so we caN be More Like GOD 1John 2:28-3:3 May the LORD GOD bless you real good!~
October 10th, 2009 on 8:05 am
Many of you have been brainwashed by television. Steve Harvey is not saved and he admits it when he says, I hang with the sinners…..and I am one! Why are folks trying to make him saved just because of his talent? This is the same mentality that black churches used to exploit homosexuals for their talent. The church on longer cares about checking your fruit to confirm your salvation. Now we just input salvation if you can sang, dance, or make us laugh. This same type of false acceptance was used by racist white folks back in the day. Only the negros who could sang and dance were accepted into mainstream society.
What a disservice we do to people by not telling them that salvation comes only thru repentence of sins and putting your trust in Jesus Christ alone. Where’s Steve Harvey’s conversion story? Where is Tyler Perry’s conversion story? When did these folks totally submit to God and start hating sin? Does Steve Harvey hate sin? Not sitting at a table cussin with his buddies. Wake Up People! This is not a discernment issue, this is common sense. Steve and Tyler Perry are fruitless of any spiritual gifts.
This all comes from weak churches who are not reading the Word of God and letting God speak for himself. Hey, if we cant discern secular artists, how in the world can we discern preachers who are preaching a false gospel? WE CANT!
I was embarrassed to see Donnie McClurkin pandering to Steve Harvey on a so called Christian network. Donnie had time to lead Steve the Christ, but he didn’t. Weak leaders=weak members. The Word or God is Sword to divide the holy from the unholy. Read it!
October 10th, 2009 on 8:16 am
@Wisdom Searcher: I respectfully, but wholeheartedly disagree with you.
You ask “where’s Steve Harvey’s conversion story?” I posit that you’re standing IN THE MIDDLE OF IT, pointing a finger of judgment and condemnation. And it’s a little sad to see.
It’s not a finished work, but it is of no use to hate on him for that fact. Just like we wouldn’t push someone crutches, urging them that they’d better WALK NOW or don’t EVER try it, we can’t look at the life of a “sinner,” who’s clearly making SOME open confessions of longing for something better, and declare “well, you’d better choose now cuz God don’t want no lukewarm Christians.” It’s absurd to make that demand because GOD never makes that demand.
Steve Harvey will come along to the FULL knowledge of the truth in his own time… until then, just pray for him. THAT’s common sense, to me.
October 10th, 2009 on 8:32 am
I watched it and was touched/excited to see what God is doing in Steve’s life and how God is using him to touch other lives..Wisdom Searcher…sounds like we need to hear YOUR conversion story…It’s up to God, not up to us on how God chooses to bring people to him…Steve was lifting up Jesus..yes, anybody can do that, but the Word never said if only CHRISTIANS lift him up..If God waited for believers, like you, to ‘lift him up’ nobody would be saved. So, if Steve Harvey uses his mouth and his life to lift up the name of Jesus, what’s your beef? If God can use a donkey, he can use Steve Harvey FOR HIS GLORY, not for how you (Wisdom Searcher) think God should do it. Just keep praying for him and while you’re at it, pray for yourself. For those that have not seen it, please watch it. It will change you.

EJ
Back in the day, people would tell you “son, you need to come on in” and they also used to say, “stop playing with God”…..we dont say that anymore, we just let folks live any old way without correction.
If what you are saying is true then Steve is “in the processing of submitting to God’s authority and living a life of holiness? TD Jakes annoited Steve Harvey at Mega Fest how many years ago? How many years ago was it when Steve hosted the BET Gospel Celebration? Where in your Bible do you see God messing around like that? How long did it take Paul to submit? Fans of these artists become incapable of discerning the truth of God b/c of the influence of artist. I recall Steve saying about 5 years ago that God is still working on him……well Steve clearly knows that he is living contrary to God Word, why dont you know this EJ.
My point is that Steve admits that he is not saved and he even wondered why he was given to opportunity to entertain God’s people. Even he knows he is wrong. so my question to you is what is your prayer to a Holy and Righteous God for a sinner? We should be praying that God break Steve heart. Break it into pieces! Just like he did him and hopefully yours. You cannot offer a cure to someone that you cannot convince is sick.
What if Steve Harvey dies today, wouldn’t TD Jakes and Donnie McClurkin have blood on their hands, b/c he went Hell and they didnt tell him about true Repentance, and Trust in the Saviour Jesus Christ? Steve, you are not ok b/c Jakes told you you are. Only God defines your salvation, and you cant earn it through your talent. Works are a fruit of your faith, not the other way around.
Steve, you cannot serve two masters! The bridge is out! Turn around, Steve!
Repentance is not a process. After salvation we should be growing in Holiness and thus cutting sin out of our lives. YOU MUST HATE SIN to do it! Apart from the Holy Spirit, we cannot and will not have a desire to please God over ourselves.

AB
Notice in your post that the first thing you acknowledge was an emotional stimulation from Steve Harvey’s appearance. We cannot be lead by our emotions, when dealing with the things of God. God’s Word is true, and it does matter how we FEEL about it. We must try everything by the Spirit of God. This emotional pull you see in some of these artist is called “GAME”. Just like men and women run game on each other, that is what these folks are doing. Talent draws emotion. Someone can have a voice that gives you chills down your spin, but that doesn’t mean it is of God.
Michael Jackson, Bernie Mack, and James Brown are more than likely in Hell right now. We know this according to the way they lived their lives. Just because we were once fans of these men we give them a pass the heaven because we want to. Jesus said HE is the Way! So emotions dont matter. Mel Gibson is not on auto-heaven because he did the Passion movie. He too must repent and trust in Jesus alone. How sad would it be to work on the best movie ever about the Christ, and still not submit to him. That would be tragic! Its like stand in a long line for hours and hours and then realizing you forgot your money at home. The store closes……and you are standing there wondering why you didnt prepare like the people who made it in.
AB, how can a man that does not know the KING lift him up? How can sinners lift Jesus, when they dont have the Holy Spirit? How can anyone lift someone they dont really know. Where is the example of this in the BIBLE. Bibleless faith lead to error.
Please study your Word, and God will reveal himself without the help of Steve Harvey, Tyler Perry and other bootleg Christians.
October 10th, 2009 on 9:56 am
@Wisdom Searcher: Your statements are bursting with contradictions.
First, you say “only God defines your salvation,” yet here YOU are on the blog… declaring that if Steve Harvey dies today, TD Jakes and Donnie McClurkin would have his blood on their hands because he’s going to Hell. So, what role are you attempting to play?
Further, you summarize your entire comment by stating that “apart from the Holy Spirit, we CANNOT and WILL NOT have a desire to please God over ourselves.” [emphasis added] So, my question… why are you looking to Steve Harvey? Who are you REALLY trying to rush in this process– Steve or the Holy Spirit?
You attempt to make much of “how many years” we’ve heard Steve saying things like this, but when were WE bestowed with the authority to begin the stopwatch on God’s PROCESS for salvation? Seeds are planted, watered and, in time, we’ll see a harvest. If I’m wrong, point me to the Scripture that specifies how many specific years it’s supposed to take to convert a person. Then, we’ll know from here on out that, if “x” number of years have passed, the soul is a lost cause. It might actually save us some time to know the expiration date.
In sum, I hear your concerns and I understand your perspective. But I’m so glad that God never scoffs and rolls His eyes at us. Funny thing is, at least HE would be justified in doing so, because He’s someone who actually knows our hearts, not just pretends to.
October 10th, 2009 on 11:29 am
Knowing our hearts? What a perfect wat to sum up this entire discussion:
Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
“well God knows my heart”. This is the very thing that condemns us before God. God knew my heart, and he knew yours too. God knew that He was 2nd and 3rd in my life, and that qualified me for death according to Commandment #1. I knew was living foul and God sent many people and situations to me to let me know this. Once I got saved, then I realized just how far from God I was living.
My original point has yet to be addressed by you or the others who refute my points. Steve Harvey is being held up before men as if he is saved, but according to his own admission he is not saved. So these TBN preachers are telling millions of viewers that Steve Harvey and his sinful comedy are presentable and approved of by the Men of God. Steve Harvey and Tyler Perry create works that celebrate sin, and make a mockery of the church, and we the TBN preachers hold these men in high esteem and so should you. Our seal of approval has been placed on there heads. Buy there ungodly books, and watch their ungodly movies. IT OK!
Leviticus 19:2 Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘You shall be holy, for I the LORD your God am holy.
October 10th, 2009 on 12:02 pm
Lets look at scripture. Paul writes to corinthians and many other churches and addresses them as bretheren. He instructed the church on many issues. Incest, sexual sins, Theivery, gossip , witchcraft, etc. Notice that he was instructing the followers of Chist. But why were they acting so if they were the church? The lack of knowledge. To be saved is to beleive in your heart and confess with your mouth. One cant believe without knowledge. So upon my observence of someones fruit i can determine the amount of knowledge. Yet i cannot question their salvation. It is after all a gift from God. And God’s gifts are without repentance.
Now sin does bring death. and one suffers because of it. There will be blessings that one misses out on because of the lifestyle. Though while we were yet in sin he quickened us together with Christ. Remember … you will see fruits of all kinds. good and evil. But they do not save. they are considered works. I think what we observed was a well known individual being loved not for his sin but inspite of and being encouraged to continue his steps to know God more.

Weeeeell, we gon’ just have to agree to disagree on this one! LOL
For the record, I never said that Steve Harvey is saved because I am not able to make that determination.
I am, however, choosing to clap for the brother as he walks from his seat, down the aisle and to the altar, regardless of how long it takes him to get there. You appear to be standing there, arms folded and brow furrowed, until he walks away speaking in tongues.
In either case, be blessed. I trust you’ll rejoice once he demonstrates his salvation just for you.
October 10th, 2009 on 1:25 pm
Let’s all pray for Steve. I saw the broadcast too via the internet and this is a man who needs God’s grace just like the rest of us. All of us has fell like Steve and we all are not the finished product, not yet.
Steve Harvey is a sinner just like the rest of all. Hopefully Steve, like the last poster a few posts above me will get some good biblical teaching and learn the essentials of Christianity. He and many of you who is seeking the claims of Christ should check out Greg Laurie’s teaching on Christian Essentials on the Harvest web site (http://www.harvest.org)

Correction my dear. We are not all Sinners! We are not just sinner who fell down and got back up! We are suppose to be new creations! Not an old man and a new man fused together as some folks teach. New means new. We are a being that did not exist before.
After salvation we may sin, but WE ARE NOT SINNER! This is the type of liberal biblical teaching that is making the church ineffective against the attacks and schemes of Satan. We are bring any NASTY thing from the world into the church these days and trying to make it Holy. God forbid!
As many of you are defend Steve Harvey becuase you are a fan you have missed that fact that my charge is not the Steve Harvey, IT IS TO DONNIE MCCLURKIN AND TBN AND TD JAKES! Folks, you so bent on telling me why I should accept Steve the Sinner, that you missed the true point about the Men of God who support his sin products.
Example: In Steve Harvey’s new book he tells women to wait 90 days before sleeping with a (nasty, no good) man. Does Donnie and TBN and TD Jakes support this ungodly idea? If not, why are they promoting it on TBN!?
Rev G
What is your view on sin? Shouldnt we condemn sin. Cling to what is good and abhor what is evil? How much time to do think we have to get right with God. Have you talked to folks in the streets these days?Do you not see the signs of Christ’s soon return. Do you beleive we should be preaching about the dangers of Hell. Should we all support our President as he forces our nation to celebrate June as Homosexual Month. Should we continue in sin, and just not say anything to others. What good is a watchmen on the wall if he is asleep??????????? While the watchmen are asleep the enemy is ravishing our cities. We have no walls! the walls were torn down by sin filled clergy with reprobate minds. The sheep are running for their lives and being killed and raped! Eddie Long allowed sin filled rapper T.I. to minister/talk to his youth? Have we lost our minds???
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Isaiah 5:20

Next Month on The Broad Road Christian TV Network:
Chris Rock with be interviewed by Bishop George Bloomer
Tyler Perry aka the Prophet of Laughter(thx Ms Bynum for that one) will be talking about his new choir called CrossDress for Jesus International Fellowship.
Tonex will be interviewed by his buddy Sherlie Cesar and they will talk about “embracing” homosexuality as a form of art.
The TBN Billionaries Boys club will have a luncheon to discuss How to Hustle in a Recession.
Praise the Lord will have Kirk Franklin, Jay Z and Beyonce, Kool in the Gang, 50 cent!
October 10th, 2009 on 3:25 pm
Maybe Beyonce, Jay and Curtis might get saved too–you never know how God’s word will get to them also.
October 11th, 2009 on 2:19 pm
NO COMPROMISIN:
Steve didn’t say receive or accept my sin…he said this is who I am RIGHT NOW! Pray for him. Don’t call him a “playboy” or “lukewarm” you can’t determine where he is in his walk with Christ based on interviews alone—- and according to you– you didn’t watch the entire interview.
When he said that his sins is in the open and ours is in our home…i believed him to mean that when one plants a seed (like his mom) and another waters it (those Christians willing to share the Word with him in love) the world is watching as he makes godly or bad decisions.
While Steve is “studying to show himself approved unto GOD” his life is on display. So any wrong decisions made is viewed by unmerciful people as “lukewarm” or “playboy”.
Since you are a Christian I can say with certainty that God has shown His UNMERITED, UNEARNED FAVOR toward YOU! Do the same for Steve Harvey and pray that He will live in the totality of the Word of God.
In no means do I agree with EVERYTHING Steve said, which is why I am choosing to pray for him instead of judging him. How many years have you been saved? Each year for 365 days each, did you speak, live and act completely and without error according to the Word of God? Well, Steve is studying to show himself approved unto GOD not his fellow brothers and sisters in the Lord. Remember, Apostle Paul had to correct the church plenty of times…but they were still apart of the church!!!
Everybody…show some grace & pray for our brother in Christ!!
October 11th, 2009 on 5:00 pm
AMAZING!!!
The scripture says that God uses the foolishness of the world to confound the wise. I like this definition of the word confound: to perplex or amaze, esp. by a sudden disturbance or surprise. Some of us on here are way too wise for our own good.
All of a sudden, the one thing that everyone is hoping for (Steve Harvey’s conversion) is being doubted. Why? Because people can only be saved by your standards? Come on folks. I am not here to argue who’s right or who’s wrong. When the woman was caught in adultery, can anyone tell me what Jesus wrote on the ground before her accusers, starting with the oldest, left one-by-one?
Again, there are a few of us who are way to eager to put gasoline drawers on Steve Harvey. Man looks on the outside, but God looks at the heart. Just be careful folks.
So, since this is my last post on this issue, I pray that each of us will be gracious as we’ve been shown grace AND mercy. All this righteous indignation is uncanny. My God!!!
October 12th, 2009 on 7:15 am
I think that ‘no compromising’ is missing the entire point of a ‘walk’ with Jesus. He (Steve Harvey) is a work in progress and if you really believe that you are without sin, keep whipping those stones, because in judging him, you’ve judged yourself and proved that all fall short of the glory of God. Hence, the need for a saviour… the thief on the cross didn’t pass your ‘test’ of righteousness and Jesus embraced him fully and gave him the promise of salvation. Done deal…
He(Steve Harvey) isn’t where he should be yet, but he is one of those who is ‘being’ perfected, he is now counted with one of the saints.
Yes, he’s still rough around the edges. That’s none of your business and who has made you a judge over your brother?
Christians need to leave new converts in the hands of the Father that loves them, and the Holy Spirit leads them, guides them and He is still the one that convicts and convinces His own of sin and righteousness. God doesn’t need hypocritical Christians helping him in the matters of the heart in any man or woman that He calls His own.
Thanks for posting this, it was a powerful testimony that was real, and true. Flat out honest, I love the work of God in the earth, it’s a wonder.
October 12th, 2009 on 8:47 am
I am totally NOT moved…here’s why
First of all Dude has been hosting the celebration of gospel 4 the past 9 yrs right?? so one would think that he had a relationship with the lord or “trying” then right?? so my question is why is he now 9 yrs into this thing and he is still not where he should be…i don’t care how u try to flip it, or how spiritual you try to make it, or how many “he who is without sin” quotes you pull out your tail, It don’t take 10 yrs to get urself right with God…I mean let’s be serious and open up our eyes people…
Then he writes a book 1 YEAR AGO where he is talking about a “90 day rule” which basically states it’s ok to fornicate after u have been dating for 90 days…got scripture for that??? Then he sit’s up on TBN with Donnie, and promotes the book to SINGLE CHRISTIAN WOMEN!! and you people see nuthing wrong with that because he is still “a work in progress”….get outta here
Wake up people, just cause someone cries(with no tears) and makes u emotional doesn’t mean nething…WAKE UP!!
October 12th, 2009 on 9:04 am
@Big Mike: I hear your concern, but I think it’s a bit unfair to say “It don’t take 10 yrs to get urself right with God.” The Christian is called to a life-long process of sanctification.
As I mentioned to someone earlier, if you can point me to a Scripture that demonstrates the precise amount of time that it does take, I’ll concede that point.
But to demand that one meet YOUR standards of holiness within a certain time frame is not Biblical. And if you’re demanding that one meets the Bible’s standards of holiness within a certain time frame, I would say that we all fall short of that benchmark, and will do so for the entirety of our natural lives on Earth… but thank God for salvation through faith (not works) in Jesus Christ.
October 12th, 2009 on 9:14 am
Here’s a question for everyone defending Steve Harvey(I still dont know why) As I have stated, this issue is not about Steve Harvey and if God is working on him or not. The issue is that TBN and Donnie McClurkin and TD Jakes have no problem lifting up secular artists and performers before the church. There are hundreds of secular stations that Steve Harvey, Tyler Perry and Natalie Cole can be admired on. Isn’t a Christian network suppose to promote Christian things? Guess what, if God is “working” on you, YOU AINT A CHRISTIAN yet! Your gospel idols are not Christians just because they sang a song that made you cry. You are a Christian only if you have repented of yours sins and put your trust in Jesus Christ alone. Will Oprah be on TBN next week? Maybe they should invite Samuel L Jackson. Or how about putting the Almighty Barack Hussein Obama on TBN so he can talk about Health Care, Gay Rights, and we need to embrace Islamic traditions. Better yet, lets invite Louis Farrakhan on TBN! He was on stage at New Birth with Bishop Eddie Long…….so why not put him on TBN too. Where does it end?
October 12th, 2009 on 9:31 am
@Wisdom Searcher: again, bursting with contradiction. Maybe you’re not as certain of yourself as you think you are…
You say: “Isn’t a Christian network suppose to promote Christian things?”
Then, you say: “if God is “working” on you, YOU AINT A CHRISTIAN yet!”
Two questions:
(1) Is God DONE working on YOU? If he’s not done working, then (by your own logic), you’re not a Christian either.
(2) Since when is God’s work on someone NOT a matter of Christian concern? You suggest that people shouldn’t be interviewed, featured or discussed on Christian networks until they’re “100% Christian” or something (which, by the way, is arbitrary and unable to be determined by mankind). I’d assume that many Christians saw that episode and began praying that the Lord would complete the work He’s begun in Steve Harvey… and I think that PRAYER more closely resembles what God has asked of us than pointing out who’s not really saved.
What is this exclusive club of Christians you’re so busy creating? And did you ask God if it was okay to create it?!
Alas, I suppose that viewers DO have a say in what is shown on a network. You should probably notify TBN of your concerns and, if they don’t respond accordingly, maybe you should form a new, REAL Christian station for like-minded individuals.

Kudos to Big Mike!
Didnt anyone notice how the women in the audience were acting. Yelling and screams and making those high pitched sounds like they do for sex symbols. Clouded judge would have blocked that out! I suppose that was ok too. Dont be fooled! God is not is the business of playing with folks. His word saying nothing about working on folks. What TBN is and Donnie are teaching us is that it is ok to live like a Steve Harvey and still remain in sin, until you feel like it is time to get right with God. Tomorrow is not promised! Once you hear the Gospel you are accountable! TURN or BURN!
October 12th, 2009 on 2:05 pm
To everyone on here who has argued with someone about what the bible says… read what the bible says about arguing with other about doctrine/religion…
(New Testament) Titus 3:9-11,
“9 Do not get involved in foolish discussions about spiritual pedigrees[a] or in quarrels and fights about obedience to Jewish laws. These things are useless and a waste of time. 10 If people are causing divisions among you, give a first and second warning. After that, have nothing more to do with them. 11 For people like that have turned away from the truth, and their own sins condemn them.” —
God clearly instructs us not to get involved in arguments that create strife about his word. Jesus never was a competitive person. He ministered the truth in love and left it at that. — If we are confessing to be Christians, we should minister the gospel and keep our opinions out of it. Just give the word/scripture and then no one can argue with the word of God. God can’t lie, and who is going to call God a liar (except satan)? Instead of focusing so much on Steve Harvey, let’s make sure we are living a life where Jesus would feel comfortable spending the day with us. He said he would never leave us or forsake us, so if you are on here arguing with someone who can’t quiet get a revelation for HIS word, they aren’t rejecting you. They are rejecting the gospel. And if you don’t minister to them in love and instead criticize them, you basically have lost your voice & Jesus will probably end up being ashamed that you call yourself his servant.
Peace Out.

can someone answer my question?? where is the scripture in the bible that states you should wait 90 days after knowing someone to have SEX with them?? or as he called it on Oprah “give away your cookie”?? where is that scripure??
Why are people still trying to defend such buffoonery when they have to know something ain’t right??
@EJ so ur telling me it takes 10 yrs in a relation ship with God for him to keep you from cursing, fornicating…etc?? I DON’T THINK SO!! The holy ghoust should be able to to keep you from falling at some point… why are you still being worked on for the same thing you were doing 10 yrs ago, I mean really when do you grow in Christ?? Ur not growing, ur playing around withGod and getting on comedy shows(and TBN that night) mocking the church, while church people sit and laugh at you…ur writing books telling single women to have sex with there man to keep him, then promoting it on TBN…UR playing around!! PERIOD
@ crunchy I don’t understand where all of the irrelevant scripture quoting is coming from or what it has to do with my questions…but I expected that kind of reaction when I asked the question!! No ones debating religion, where talking common sense here!! Wrong is wrong and right is right…period…now since ur into quoting scripture, find for me the scripture that supports the 90 day sex rule that ur buddy Steve wrote in his book!!

Famed Gospel Idol Fred Hammond resorted to the use of secular artists on his hit record “Somethin bout Love”
Musiq Soulchild,
Brian McKnight
THE CHURCH SAYS NOTHING!
FAMED GOSPEL STARS MARY MARY used a secular producer and secular rapper David Banner.
They also have a video for the song “God in Me” featured rapper Kayne West, Stripper Amber Rose, rapper Heavy D, and 5 percenter rapper Common.
THE CHURCH WASNT OFFENDED! THEY PLAY THE SONG AND DANCES TO IT.
YOLANDA ADAMS sings on a track with Bone THugs and Harmony.
THE CHURCH SAYS NOTHING.
These are examples of people who claim to be Christians yet, they work to blur the line between the world and the church. Upon receiving salvation every believer should realize by the knowledge of the Holy Ghost that there is now a cleavage be himself and the world. A new man shouldnt have a Mp3 player full of sin! We cannot grow in Holiness if we cannot part ways with the world and its products. The Bible says “…..abhor what is EVIL!
These artists have sold out the Gospel for a few checks.
October 12th, 2009 on 10:17 pm
@EJ
You seem to like the word contradiction yet you do a poor job of pointing them out. Without resorting to word play games, my position is clear and yours is skewed to fit your liberal theology.
Your points 1 and 2 makes no sense at all. The phrase “God is working on me” usually means that a person has not yet fully repented unto God and is therefore still in the world. This person may realize the truth of God, but they have not committed themselves to his Lordship through repentance. REPENTANCE REPENTANCE REPENTANCE! I know you hate that word but REPENTANCE is essential to salvation. “God is working on me” means you want to get out of the world, but you are not willing to let everything go. Therefore if God is “working on you, that means you are either a false convert and need to repent FOR REAL THIS TIME, or you just want to remain in the world a little bit longer. The alter is full of false converts who didnt really want God and his authority, they just want his gifts. Opting to remain is sin, is a denial of the Lord Jesus Christ himself. His atoning work on the Cross was for those who would believe, NOT EVERYONE. Just because you think Jesus was a great guy doesnt get you into heaven. let’s reflect on the message of John the Baptist. What was he talking about ? REPENTANCE boys and girls!
So EJ, once again we are stuck in the 1st grade of Christian Theology. This “milk message” has been brought to you by Believer’s Beverage. Living Water, not available in a can. LOL!
October 12th, 2009 on 10:41 pm
Like the late, great television host Lloyd Thaxton would say, “So What!!” So what if Mary Mary recorded with David Banner. So What if Fred Hammond recorded with Brian Mc Knight. So what if Yolanda Adams recorded with a secular artist.
These artists believe it or not is our missionaries, something that all of us need to do instead of starting pointless arguments which does a disservice to the body of Christ. These useless arguments drove and still driving people out of the church like Steve Harvey out of favor with Christians and the church especially because of the constant judging when people accept the Lord and want them to change because of their interpretation of scripture. We are not to change people once they accept the Lord, the Lord does the changing and we should let him do the changes, not our interpretation of change.
October 13th, 2009 on 12:51 am
@Gayle I’m am so sorry you feel that way but Mary Mary, Fred & Yolanda are not missionaries of mine or the body of Christ and never will be. What fellowship does light have with darkness? Mary May was on tour with Maxwell. They were his opening act they heard the God in me then heard Maxwell sing about sex who himself said was all a setup from the beginning that if the brotha’s in the concert didn’t get any that night it wasn’t his fault. Cmon you are way off!
I have a question to all and please answer. If any of you were living in the old testament times how many of you would have made it? Thank God for Grace? The man who was walking with the ark and reach out with good intentions to help was struck down and killed. Thank God for grace. Aiken took a few pieces of money and was killed. Thank God for grace. The children of Israel built a golden idol and many were killed. Thank God for grace. Dathan and the other leaders came up against Moses & were killed. Thank God for grace. Jonah ran from Nineveh because HE felt that they didn’t deserve grace & knew God would forgive them if they heard the truth. Thank God for grace. When we first God saved how many of you have been perfect saints? How many have never sinned, gossiped, lied, stole, covet, cheated on taxes claimed kids that weren’t yours, took back clothes you wore, don’t pay tithes, kept part of your tithes to pay a bill, looked at a women with lust, answered the phone and said you weren’t home, called out sick and wasn’t, talked about your pastor or someone else’s pastor, judged who was going to hell or not, played favoritism, envied, unforgiveness, cussed, unbridled tongue, fornication…ect
Sometimes we as Christians take the role as the prodigals sons big brother and are upset because the sinner didn’t come to Christ as quickly like we did or as quickly as we would like them to. Man I am not Christ and to the SH of the world that I meet & see when evangelizing. In my heart I want them to except Christ right now and keep running the race. But that’s not my Job. It’s to drop a seed and water it in prayer and let God be God. The ultimate choice is up to the person who has heard the word. Can’t no one come except the father draws him. If SH gets saved tonight GREAT! Angels are rejoicing if he dies guess where he’s going? If he backslides again and dies it’s of no fault but his because he heard the word.
I said all that to say this. None of us can judge what’s in another person’s heart. who knows the heart but God. Is Steve H. saved I don’t know, I don’t listen to his show, don’t watch him on TV or Google him on the web. I can only judge his actions based on what I see. I did see his last comedy thing still trippen I saw about 3 minutes and turned it because of all the cussing. I saw him on TBN crying just like he did a megafest & at one of the gospel shows. How many of you have been convicted by anything that you did & knew it was wrong and when you felt the conviction you cried out? I wouldn’t say God is working on him because that would insinuate that God is a failure so i will say that God is calling him and he SH hears those calls and breaks down because he’s convicted but when the moment has passed goes back to his life style. The key thing is for us the body of Christ not to judge the world because God will do that be we must according to the bible Judge the church when it is in error but do it in love. No to embarrassed but in Love and all men will do that ye are my disciples if you love one another.
Our job is to continue to pray for the brother that he answers the call of repentance. Why then Paul says I die daily? Because even he the great leader had issues that he as a Christian aka follower of Christ constantly had to deal with and repent of. Those that he looks to for guidance should forget about who he is and tell him about what he is and where he’s going if he didn’t stop.
How many of you voted for Obama? me too. He’s pushing the Gay agenda. we all should repent now or just pray or both or just talk about it? Repent Let’s pray & fast.
Sorry about this being so long
October 13th, 2009 on 8:53 am
@Gayle
Your tolerance towards sin reveals that you have a very low view of Scripture. Your interpretation of Scripture belittles what Jesus die for. Jesus didnt die so we can remain in sin and cavort around with sinners on their terms. So does matter if we keep sinning? Sin is a poison that effects the entire body. Our sin effects everyone around us. A microphone and a video camera can project our sin and effect millions of people.
If you see your Pastor sinning in public should concern you. If your Pastor has no problem hanging with sinners(not being around them, Im talking about “hangin” and seek the company of) that should concern you.
1 Timothy 3
Qualifications of Overseers
1 This is a faithful saying: If a man desires the position of a bishop,[a] he desires a good work. 2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach; 3 not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money,[b] but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous; 4 one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence 5 (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?); 6 not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil. 7 Moreover he must have a good testimony among those who are outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

*shakin’ my head*
I trust that we’re all PRAYING for Steve Harvey with the same frequency and fervor as we’re posting on this blog entry about him.
Cuz otherwise, we’ve kinda missed the whole point.
October 13th, 2009 on 9:36 am
EJ, I really expected that you would have closed this discussion by now.
I was thinking about that scripture quoted above stating that light no having fellowship with darkness. Well this is true because it is absolutely impossible. Darkness cannot abide where light it shone. But it begs the point that someone has to go into a dark place and shine a light, doesn’t it?? If I sing or preach to those who are already saved, am I truly fulfilling my call? (wow this thread’s purpose has changed a bit, hasn’t it?) I think we as Christians get so comfortable with preaching and shouting with other Christians, that we forget that our call is to the lost. Why season anything with salt if it already has flavor? Why use a flashlight in an already lit room? (Referencing Matt 5:12-14)
Now for a well rounded view I also have to add that when Jesus went and gathered his disciples, he went where they were but he BID them, or compelled them, even persuaded them to follow HIM. He dwelled among them, but he also called them OUT. (Matt 4:18-22, Mark 1:30-36; Luke 5:8-11; John 1:36-50) He ate with them, but he was always teaching and pulling them from where they were. (So if we use this in the contexts above, I would hope that Mary Mary are using their influence to actually pull. I would hope that Fred and Yolanda would do the same. If not, then, they did miss the point. But you have no way of knowing what their influence has yielded the Kingdom. Tye Tribbett talked about standing out and standing AGAINST. Not just standing in. (Ephesians 6) We are not so great that our presence alone can change our environments, but we must speak and demonstrate the full Gospel of Jesus Christ. Lastly, I am so glad that everyone does not have the same call. So maybe what one can handle, another one could not. We have no idea what God has called these above-mentioned people to. No idea. We can only pray that as God opens doors, whatever door that might be, that they walk through them and walk out of them with integrity. Don’t you all see that God is doing something in the earth. If you can’t sense it and see it, then you have been blinded by religiousity. Can’t you feel him doing something? Look and see what “icons” are no longer with us. “In the year that King Uzziah died, {Isaiah} saw also the Lord… (Isaiah 6) When icons die, it signifies the end of and Age!!!! But not only that, the beginning of a new one. I think we depend so much on people, and have our eyes focused on them., that we forget who is really the Author and Finisher… He is great and controls all things, and causes ALL things to work together for good to them that love Him, and called for what? ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSE. So, none of the 90 or so people that have commented, including me, have the complete answer. The beautiful thing about the Kingdom is that you cannot view it fully with one lense, it takes all of us together to view Jesus and experience the Kingdom in it’s fullness. Remember that the word causes things to connect and come together but it is the Spirit that gives life (Ezekiel spoke the bones to come together, but had to call for the winds to awaken the dead bodies) So you need both the Word and the Spirt. (John 6:63)
Love each other and pray for one another. And when we speak the truth, let’s do it with LOVE. For love covers a MULTITUDE of sins. 1 Peter 4:8-11
To those that might be reading who have not yet accepted Jesus, or who still have questions, read the totality of the Gospel. God is merciful and just at the same time, He is jealous but full of love, he hates sin, but made a way of escape from it. Get the whole story. We love you to LIFE.

@ BIG MIKE –
I do not agree with SH 90 day rule. And wouldn’t promote or read a book that promotes fornication like TBN did. In fact i wasn’t even speaking to you in particular, so why so defensive?
I was just trying to encourage those of us who are tyring to spread the gospel to do it in love which is what Jesus expects.
Sorry you got offended.
Peace out.
October 13th, 2009 on 12:00 pm
@ Crunchy…ur cool, I wasn’t offended with YOU, however I can see where my comments to you might have been harsh, and for that I apologize…I don’t have problem with you!!!
@Glenda… I didn’t read ur whole statement, cause I am trying to avoid a headache(please seperate paragraphs in ur comments so it can be easily read!!) but I did see one of ur statement, and I have this question…why would EJ close the discussion?? SO as long as people are praising Steve it’s ok, but when people use there God given common sense to discern real from fake there’s a problem, and we have to shut it down?? com on now
I am glad this discussion was brought up, now I see I’m not crazy, cause I thought I was the only one that wasn’t guite sold on this “testimony” thingy
October 13th, 2009 on 12:19 pm
Big Mike,
What would make you think that if we were all praising Steve, then that meant it was somehow ok with me.
You said you didn’t read my whole statement, and that is obvious. You don’t see me praising Steve anywhere in this post. But since you could only make it thru my first sentence and felt from that you could surmise what I said, let me say that the reason I stated that was because of EJ’a previous statement, where he seemed to be getting tired of the bickering. That is also why I said that, because some posts and comments have not been loving to one another.
The tone of the replies have been replete with sarcasm and finger-pointing and even degradation. NOT TO STEVE EITHER! To each other! I view this as a discussion between adults.
Next time, please read a whole post before you reply and read the previous posts by the same person, so you can have some reference for the spirit and tone in which they write. Matter of fact I will go back and copy and paste my previous statement and separate it, so you won’t get a headache.
I just wish we could learn how to talk to each other. Remember, when you are writing no one can see your face, so you have to explain yourself in a way that does not come across as sarcastic or full of attitude (and by YOU, I mean the general YOU, not just YOU in particular, Big Mike)
Bless you.

I never saw Steve on TBN. But I have read many of the posts and the self-righteous tone in many of these posts saddens and scares me.
Yes, maybe some of us are too accepting but some of us also lack compassion, mercy, and understanding. It’s easy to hide behind our monitors and keyboards and get on folks as if we’re better cause we’ve gotten victory over that particular sin…as if the sins we still struggle with are less sinful.
We all need to seek God about how to do better…how to be better…especially as it relates to witnessing and mentoring. And for those of you who are quick to point the finger at others issues…exposing the sins that God himself wants to forget…God has a way of humbling you. I’ve been there…I wouldn’t wish the lesson on anyone.
October 13th, 2009 on 7:51 pm
@v4c
Not sure who your comments are direct to but I would encourage you to read the comments posted and not read it them and apply your own ideas. This discussion is not pointing the finger at anyone in a self righteous way. I dont recall anyone saying they are perfect here. What you missed was the point. The discussion is about whether or not TBN and Donnie McClurkin should be promoting a secular artist such as Steve Harvey, or Tyler Perry. My concern is that when we chose to lift up unsaved people on a Christian network, and pretend they are saved,we render our approval on them and their lifestyle and the work they produce.
Oprah had chosen not to have any Hip Hop Rappers on her show for years because she did not want what they stood for to be represented on her stage. So why then, would the people of God, seek to give entertainment kudos to men who mock God and cuss and fuss for a living? We should be standing for holiness, but a lot of Christians and so called Christians are stilled attached to the world and trying to get others to go the same. If the Scripture declares you are a new creature then let it be so. Again, Steve Harvey is not the issue here, its Donnie McClurkin, TD Jakes and TBN who are trying to mix the world with the church by promoting secular artist on the network.
Steve declared he was a sinner on the interview and folks want to imput salvation to his spirit because they like him, and he’s talented. Steve must fully repent and trust in Jesus Christ to be saved just like everyone else. Donnie approval and TBN approval and yo mama and dem being saved will not count toward your salvation. We were all enemies of God before salvation. We broke his laws and were headed for Hell in a handbasket! But So loved the world……….that after being professional sinners he still sent his Son to die for THOSE WHO WOULD BELIEVE. We are saved from God’s Wrath. Rescued! We might sin, but we are no longer professional sinners living a life that glorifies sin. So we must draw a line, with the Word of God between the world and the church. Remember Jesus said I did NOT come to bring peace, but a what???????????? SWORD! Read Mathew 10:34-39.
October 13th, 2009 on 8:12 pm
Okay, so now I’m closing the comments for several reasons.
First, we’re debating about things over which we have little to no certain knowledge (the state of Steve Harvey’s salvation) and about which God has not called us to assess for one another.
Second, I’m perpetually baffled by people who come on here trying to moderate discussions. To clarify, Wisdom Searcher, the topic of this discussion has NOTHING to do with Tyler Perry. In fact, you’re the ONLY PERSON who’s EVER mentioned Tyler Perry’s name on this post, so how it has suddenly become “what the discussion is about” is beyond me.
The discussion was, in fact, about the work that God’s doing in Steve Harvey’s life. And it was a call to watch the clip and pray for him. The rest is extra and has proven to become non-glorifying. So that’s the end of that.
As always, I appreciate the comments and the discussion– let’s just always keep it loving and God-glorifying. Cool? Cool.
