Mary Mary Releases New Album Cover, Announces New Management

Mary Mary has released the album cover for their new project, Something Big, in stores on March 29th.

I love it.  I think it’s a departure from the standard “face-on-album” deal in gospel music, and I love the true artwork component of it.  I also love the throwback 70′s kind of vibe it’s got to it…

Check it out–

Also, after hinting at it via Twitter for weeks now, the sisters have announced that they have signed with Maximum Artist Group (management company for Donald Lawrence, Natalie Grant and others, run by Mitchell Solarek) to represent them.

Mary Mary will be co-headlining the ‘Still Something Big’ tour with BeBe & CeCe Winans in select markets beginning in April.

Goodies: All-Star Vocalists on “Lift Every Voice And Sing”

I sooooooo remember this special arrangement of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” being released about 20 years ago.  I remember hearing all of the different vocalists, trying to pick out who was singing on each part, and thinking “THIS SONG ROCKS!”

We’re talking Melba Moore, Dionne Warwick, Stevie Wonder, Stephanie Mills, Karen Clark Sheard, Howard Hewitt, Jeffrey Osborne, BeBe & CeCe Winans, Anita Baker, Take 6, Bobby Brown, Gerald Albright… the vocals and music are well-produced.  Just great great great.

Anyway, I started humming it this week, randomly, and I thought “I wonder if people remember this?”

Do you???

Word Has It: My Block Records Partners With Malaco

Word has it that Warryn Campbell’s My Block Records, the label home of the Soul Seekers, has signed a distribution deal with Malaco Music Group.  The first release in the partnership will be Soul Seekers II, the group’s sophomore project, due on November 16th.

In my mind, the partnership makes TOTAL sense for the quartet group’s new project– Malaco has a long-standing history in traditional gospel music, but has also begun venturing into more contemporary sounds, especially with last year’s release of Still, the BeBe & CeCe Winans reunion project.

Congrats to all involved– can’t wait to get some music! :-)
