Just wanna give you guys a quick heads-up…

New episodes of gmc’s series Best of the Stellar begin this Sunday, March 21st at 10pm ET.  It will be a “Best of The Winans” episode, featuring performances by BeBe & CeCe Winans and various performances by members of the Winans Family.

Then, the following Sunday, March 28th (at the same time), they’ll feature a ”Best of Shirley Ceasar” episode, with performances including “He’ll Do It Again,” “I Say Yes” and more.

It’s great to watch some of the throwback performances that have been done over the years– it’s a really fun show.

Tunin’ in???

I was watching The Best Of The Stellars on Gospel Music Channel a while back and was reminded of this AWESOME performance by the Wilmington Chester Mass Choir back in 1992.

It’s classic.  From the soloist to the sopranos, altos and tenors… choirs aren’t doin’ it like this anymore!

Did y’all catch The Best of The Stellars on Gospel Music Channel on Sunday?  I thought it was really great.

Vickie Winans hosts it and does a good job.  She’s hilarious to me cuz you NEVER know what she’s gonna do or say.

The episode I watched featured some of the best Opening Performances from the past 24 years (though, it really only went back as far as Fred Hammond’s “Let The Praise Begin” in 1999).  I forgot how good some of those performances were– from Kurt Carr’s “In The Sanctuary” to Dorinda’s “I’m Coming Out”… (sidebar: y’all remember how excited everyone was when Dorinda’s debut finally album came out?!).  And Yolanda Adams’ performance of “That Name” with Richard Smallwood on keys.  Oh my goodness…

Anyway, a good show with awesome performances and backstage interviews of Tye Tribbett, 21:03, Donnie McClurkin, Dorinda Clark-Cole… I’m excited to keep watchin’.

Heads-up, people.  If you have Gospel Music Channel (and I know several of you don’t, so I’m reeaally sorry), you should be advised that THIS SUNDAY (April 5th), the network is premiering its first episodes of The Best of the Stellars.

The program is similar to its The Best of the Doves program, in that it will feature footage from the past 24 years of the Stellar Awards show– the best performances, some never-before-seen clips of various things, some trivia, some interviews, some chit-chattin’… some FUN!  The whole thing is hosted by Vickie Winans, so you KNOW it’ll have some great, unscripted moments, too.

The show is airing on Sunday at 8pm ET/PT.  And there ain’t just ONE– it’s gonna be airing EVERY Sunday at 8pm until they’ve exhausted themselves!  Each show has a theme to it.  This week’s theme is Most Memorable Opening Numbers.  Other themes include Rousing Finales, Male Performances, Female Performances and Choirs.  Plus, Kirk Franklin and Yolanda Adams each have their own themed episodes.

MAJOR Kudos to Gospel Music Channel for doin’ the daggone thing in a big way for ALL types of Christian music.  Y’all other networks– take some notes.  You KNOW who you are.
