Several years back, I watched VH1 Divas Live as Bishop Paul Morton joined Aretha Franklin on stage to kill “Precious Memories” before the masses.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE THIS Winans clip.

The audio is super low (so, turn it up to hear it, but make sure you turn it back down afterwards, or you’ll blow your ears out later)… but I’ve always loved this song and this performance from 1983 is just… VINTAGE.

I remember when Dorinda Clark Cole’s debut solo album came out. She was my favorite Clark Sister that year (it changes almost annually) and I remember grabbing my copy of the project– you know, the one with the red cover.

I supplemented that buy with a purchase of her DVD and I think I watched the DVD more than I did regular television for several months. One of my favorite performances from it is actually the reprise of “I’m Still Here,” because I love the ministry (and singing, of course) that she does on it.

Who remembers that?! Love it!

Few people can nail a live performance like Yolanda Adams can.  She stands tall and regal, all glammed up, with a voice that just won’t quit.  If I were a betting man, my money would typically be on Yolanda when it comes to near-flawless live performances.

This particular performance is from a tribute to Patti LaBelle.  In fact, I remember posting something about it when it happened and, because she also did a duet with Brian McKnight, folks glossed over how dope this performance was, opting instead to go at each other about whether she should’ve or shouldn’t have, whether it’s right or wrong, whether Yolanda’s a sinner or a saint.

I don’t wanna go that route this time– let’s just focus on the performance, cuz it’s great and worth a watch.

Ran across this video of Marvin Winans while preparing to post a different one…

I’m sayin’ this in the most secure-within-myself way I know how– something about that man’s voice just drives me bananas!  It’s like butter.  Or like velvet.  Whatever it is, it’s dope.

On this video, Marvin Winans is singing his single, “I Still Believe,” from his solo debut album, Alone But Not Alone.  The track is waaaay too low for this performance, so the mix is almost ALL lead vocal…

I know that’s not ideal, sound-wise, but goodie goodie for us– we get to hear even MORE of the vocal nuances and tricks that make him who he is.
