In The Lab: Kim Burrell Works On Haiti Project

Remember a few weeks ago when I reported that a bunch of artists were in NYC recording another relief song for Haiti?

Well, vocalist Kim Burrell, the Executive Producer of the track, recently posted a link to some behind-the-scenes footage of their process.  In it, she speaks with several of the participants about the significance of the project, including Tye Tribbett, Michelle Williams, Nikki Ross, Anaysha Figueroa, James Hall, Nancey Jackson, Anwar Robinson and more.

In The Lab: Guitar Overdubs For Ashmont Hill's Upcoming Album

Remember a few months ago, when I was in the studio with Ashmont Hill as they worked on their upcoming album?

Well, during that session, they were working on a particular song that nearly sent me INSANE… beautiful melodies, beautiful lyrics, beautiful concept.  At the time, I didn’t release the title, but I think I can now…

The tune is called “Your Masterpiece” and it’s written by group member Phil Thompson and Zenzo Matoga.  It’s GREAT.

I just found some video footage of guitar overdubs being recorded this week, by producer Sal Oliveri and guitarist Andrew Ramsey, and I figured I’d share it with you guys.  If you listen closely, you can hear the vamp of the song behind the guitar… it’s a BIG worship ballad that I think you guys are going to love.

From what you could hear, what do you think???

In The Lab: Watch Israel Houghton Record "Hosanna" & "Others"

My buddy, UK Gospel DJ and commentator Mike Rimmer, recently kicked it with Israel Houghton, Aaron Lindsey and Tommy Sims at Abbey Road Studios in London. *jealous*

Fortunately, he captured some footage of the creative process going into one of Israel’s new songs, called “Hosanna,” which should be featured on his upcoming project.  No official release dates or info on it yet, but judging from this tune (and another song he was working on recently), I’m EAGER to hear this project whenever it hits.

Watch the video and pay attention to Mike Rimmer’s typed narration throughout it.  And make sure you view the whole deal, cuz it features an interview between Mike and Iz at the end.  Very cool!

Keep up with Mike Rimmer at http://www.facebook.com/rimmerama and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/rimmerama. He’s doing a great job covering the UK gospel scene and you don’t wanna miss a minute of it.

What do you all think of the new tracks???
