In The News: Mother Of Adrian Anderson (Trin-i-tee 5:7) Passes
by EJ on Jun.25, 2010, under Christian
Family, let’s lift up Adrian Anderson, one-third of gospel trio Trin-i-tee 5:7, as she deals with the recent passing of her mother.
No further details have been made available at this time, but our collective prayers are definitely going to go a long way. Cool?
If you want to, you can also send Adrian a message of encouragement at her Twitter page– http://www.twitter.com/adriansmile.
In The News: Sheri Jones-Moffett Gives “Fuel for the Journey”
by EJ on Jun.01, 2010, under Industry
Grammy-nominated gospel artist Sheri Jones-Moffett is seeking voter support for a new television show she hopes to launch, entitled Fuel for the Journey.
The powerhouse vocalist has created a video submission about the show as part of Oprah’s “Search for the Next TV Star” contest, in which the winner gets her own show on Oprah’s new network.
Sheri’s concept is an outpouring of her desire to see people live well. “Everyone loves empowering words and good food.” Fuel for the Journey will offer both, “combined in an effort to heal and inspire.” Love it!

In The News: Canton Jones’ Father Passes
by EJ on May.28, 2010, under Christian
Family, let’s keep Canton Jones and his family in prayer– his father, Pastor Clarence Jones, passed yesterday.
Canton featured his father on “Fix It,” a song from his 2005 album, Love Jones.
Let’s lift them up, folks!
In The News: Bynum NOT In Personal Relationship With Knowles
by EJ on May.26, 2010, under Music
The Music World Entertainment camp issued an official statement today, clarifying that the “recent rumors of a personal relationship between Mathew Knowles and Juanita Bynum are false. Their relationship is strictly professional.”
Personally, I hadn’t heard any such rumors. Had you guys?
The latter portion of the statement was tagged with a reminder that the joint venture between Knowles and Bynum would be releasing a new single, “Soul Cry (Oh Oh Oh),” on June 22nd. Maybe that was the real news nugget…
Either way, now you know BOTH bits of info! Govern yourselves accordingly.
In The News: Please Pray For Judith Christie McAllister & Her Husband
by EJ on May.25, 2010, under Christian
I don’t like posting stuff like this, but it’s hit national media attention and I’m informing you guys MERELY so that you can pray. In fact, I’m not opening comments on this one because there’s no discussion needed, in my opinion. At least, not here.
Darin Lee McAllister, husband of Judith Christie McAllister, has been charged with 19 counts of fraud, including wire fraud and bank fraud. Specifically, he is accused of falsifying his profession and income to secure financing for rental properties worth $1.25 million in 2006, then falsifying information about his income and assets in bankruptcy proceedings last year.
Judith Christie McAllister has declined to speak with reporters at this time.
As their family in Christ, I hope we will support them both by praying. We don’t know the circumstances surrounding the allegations, nor do we know the truth of the situation. As such, I believe wisdom dictates that we simply take it to, and leave it with, God.
In The News: Gospel Nominees Announced for the BET Awards
by EJ on May.19, 2010, under Music
The nominees for the 10th annual BET Awards were announced yesterday. The awards program recognizes the gospel genre in its Best Gospel Artist category. This year, nods in that category go to:
Marvin Sapp
The Anointed Pace Sisters
Kirk Franklin Presents Artists United For Haiti
Tamela Mann
Vickie Winans
Happy about Marvin Sapp, thrilled for the Pace Sisters (project was slept on– read my review for more info), satisfied about Tamela Mann and Vickie Winans. I dunno that the Haiti relief project should’ve been nominated. Don’t get me wrong– I love everything that it is, was and ever stood for… I just dunno that it should be put in the Best Gospel Artist category. Are we saying that, merely for being there, the participants are “the best” this year?
For me, this list is missing BeBe & CeCe Winans. After a 15-year hiatus, gospel’s most famous duo returns with the highest album debut of 2009, sales that kept them at #1 on the gospel chart for MONTHS, plus media exposure that included a performance on Oprah… and they’re not even nominated? What must one DO?! I don’t get the nominations criteria.
I wouldn’t be the only one, of course, as nominations are doled out by a select and secret committee comprised of… well, we’re not really told who. By the way, what’s with awards shows not telling us who’s doing all the awardin’?!
In any case, I’m predicting Marvin Sapp on this one. And after a record-breaking debut across all genres of music a couple of months ago, I think he deserves it.
This year’s BET Awards will be hosted by Queen Latifah and will be broadcast live from L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium on Sunday, June 27th at 8pm ET/7pm CST on BET.
What do you think of the nominees???
In The News: BGA School of the Arts
by EJ on May.18, 2010, under Industry
This is the stuff I love to see from gospel artists…
A while back, Branden Anderson of urban gospel group God’s Image (G.I.) launched the BGA School of the Arts in Richmond, VA, providing a pretty great music & arts curriculum.
I’m talking the WORKS– everything from instrument lessons, music theory, ear training, sight-reading, music biz consulting, and more… at an affordable rate. And they’re also offering a Summer Camp for children!
I think it’s a GREAT use of an artist’s resources and gifts. If you’re in the Richmond, VA area, I think you should check it out.
Kudos to Branden on this dope initiative. Visit www.BGASchooloftheArts.com for more info (there’s some auto-play music on there, so don’t have your speakers up all loud at work… lol).
Anyone gonna look into it?
In The News: Add Micah Stampley to the Music World Roster!
by EJ on May.17, 2010, under Industry
On the heels of the increasingly discussed signing of Juanita Bynum to a management/recording-joint-venture deal, Mathew Knowles’ Music World Entertainment announced Friday that it has just signed Micah Stampley to a management and joint-venture recording deal (Interface/Spirit Rising Music) as well.
A new release is in the works, but there has not been an announcement as to its title or expected release date.
A lot of you didn’t like the Juanita Bynum business move… is this one more to your liking???
In The News: Date Announced For 2011 GRAMMY Awards

The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS), the organization responsible for awarding the coveted GRAMMY Award, has announced that next year’s awards telecast will take place on Sunday, February 13, 2011 ad will air on CBS.
