The Prayer List: Daryl Coley

We’re continuing our weekly series, The Prayer List, with the addition of a legend in gospel music– Daryl Coley.

Known for his vocal acrobatics and incredible range, Daryl Coley gave us a little scare a few years ago when word of his failing health spread like wildfire.  Since then, we’ve seen him progressing and doing much better.  His contribution to the industry, as well as his influence on younger singers, is undeniable.  Let’s hold him up in prayer.

Father, thank You for the ministry that You have given Daryl Coley.  Thank You for the gifts that You gave him, to equip him for the work he would have to do on this Earth.

Lord, I pray that Your hand of preservation would be on Daryl Coley.  I pray that You would sustain him.  Reward his faithfulness to You with a life full of peace and joy in You.

God, any ailments and infirmities that he continues to experience, I pray that you would minimize them and give him comfort.  I pray for healing.

I pray that You will continue to shape Daryl Coley, Lord.  I pray that You will continue to chisel away at any areas that are not like You, and continue to make the areas that glorify You even brighter in his life.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Okay, sisters and bros… let’s hear your prayers!

The Prayer List: Benita Bellamy

The Prayer List is rollin’ full steam ahead this week with a new addition to our individual and corporate prayer lists.  If you need a reminder on what we’re doin’, click here.  Otherwise, let’s get it.

This week, I’m adding Benita Bellamy to the list.  Now, many of you are gonna say “who?!”  The reality is that Benita is a behind-the-scenes player that many gospel consumers won’t necessarily know.  But please believe that she, like so many others, makes a valuable contribution to the gospel music industry through her work as a marketing/promotions consultant via The Bellamy Group.

Benita has consulted for a wide variety of artists in gospel.  Some of her clients have included Mali Music, Lowell Pye, Brian Courtney Wilson, Kevin LeVar, Dathan Thigpen, Joint Heirs and many others.  Recently, she hosted the “Notes On The Red” fashion show and performance feature at this year’s Stellar Awards weekend in Nashville, TN.  She’s got skills and I think we oughta lift her up as one of the wheels that makes this gospel train run.  Join me?

Father, You alone are worthy of glory and honor by Your people.  I thank You for being an awesome God who has created the Heavens and Earth, but is still concerned about the intricacies of our lives.  Today, I thank You for the life and calling of Benita Bellamy.

Thank You for the vision that You’ve given her, and the tools with which You have equipped her.  Thank You for giving her the tall task of promoting Your Gospel through the artists with whom she works.  Thank You for her innovation in these areas.  I pray that You would increase her opportunities for her company, and allow her vision to expand for your glory, alone.  Where there are obstacles that would deter her, I pray that You would knock them down and cause her to grow in character and maturity with You.

God, I ask that you continue to bless Benita with wisdom as a mother, to know how to best demonstrate Your love, so that her daughter would grow to be a great woman of God.

Lord, I pray that You would settle and establish Benita.  I pray that any area in which she is seeking clarity or guidance, You would show Your leading power.  I pray that You would calm any situations in her life that are raging, and bring peace to turmoil.  I pray that You would remind her of Your promises to her, Your plans and Your Divine orchestration.  I pray that those things would be anchors for her and that she would be confident in them, and in You.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Aight, family.  I know you don’t all “know” her, but she’s your sister in Christ and the Lord laid her on my heart for this week’s list.  Can you join with me, please?

Post your prayers and let’s demonstrate the love of Christ and the power of His Body on Earth.

The Prayer List: Darwin Hobbs

We’ve been praying for one person in this industry for weeks now and I’m thrilled with the participation and feedback we’re gettin’… click here to see what it’s all about, then let’s get it goin’.

This week, I’m adding Darwin Hobbs to The Prayer List.

Darwin is an incredible vocalist with a ministry that is second to none.  His music experience in this industry ranges from session work in CCM and gospel, to a thriving solo career, and everything that goes along with it.  He’s got a new album coming on June 22nd, but that’s not the gist of this post.  Let’s lift him up…

***

Father, thank You for the life and ministry of Darwin Hobbs.  Thank You for his servant heart, for his faithfulness to his calling and for his relationship with You.  Thank You for giving Darwin such an incredible gift to equip him to fulfill all that You created Him to be.  I pray that nothing and no one would be able to interfere with Your creation, Your calling and Your plan.

Lord, it is my prayer that You would allow Darwin’s music ministry to bless many.  I pray that people would hear his music–new and old– and be encouraged in their walk with You, be inclined to worship You more through their lives.  I pray for his spoken ministry as well.  I pray that You would increase his opportunities to share his testimony of brokenness that You have healed.  I pray that his story would lead others to You, to give You glory alone.

Bless Darwin’s union with his wife, Traci.  Let them continue to be an example of true love, a love that was predestined before time began, a love that is symbolic and representative of the love that You have for Your church.  Whatever their dreams and hopes for their life together, God, I pray that it be done according to Your will.  Prove Yourself, as always, to be a redeeming and restoring God who resurrects broken promises and dashed dreams, giving them new life.  And allow Darwin and Traci’s joy to flourish and never be shaken.

I pray for Darwin’s continued health.  I pray that he continue to recover from his recent surgery and that all it was intended to accomplish in his body would take effect.  I pray for his healthy decisions and a life of discipline, followed by results, in those areas that He is seeking to change in his physical body.  Please give him strength for that journey, Lord.

God, please touch Darwin’s life with your grace.  Mark his life with mercy, that he would be a man who is rich in compassion and full of love.  The gentle spirit that he exudes, let it be multiplied many times over in the lives of those he encounters as he goes.  Bless him as he goes, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Okay, family.  Will you please stand with me in prayer for Darwin Hobbs?  Post your prayers in the comment section… let’s make it huge for God’s glory!

The Prayer List: Canton Jones & Melonie Daniels

It’s time for our weekly addition to The Prayer List.  For a recap of what we’re doing and why, click here.  Otherwise, let’s get it going!

This week, I’m cheating a little bit and I’m adding two folks to The Prayer List– Melonie Daniels to Canton Jones.  Both are grappling with the bittersweetness of each of their father’s passing (Canton’s last Thursday and Melonie’s today).  So, let’s hold them up as their brothers and sisters in Christ.

God, thank You for being the Divine Orchestrator of all things in Heaven and Earth.  Thank You for being a sovereign and loving God– a God who is infinitely greater than our finite understanding, but a God who is willing to reveal Yourself to us through nature, through Your word and by Your Spirit.

Lord, I lift up to you this week Canton Jones and Melonie Daniels, two of Your precious children who both experienced the passing of their respective Earthly fathers in the past week.  I pray that You would wrap them in Your comfort and peace.  Where the enemy would prompt them to challenge how good You are, I pray that the Spirit of the Living God, that dwells within them, would speak louder than him.  Where society, even the Church, would suggest that they need to hurry up and heal, I pray that You would do a thorough and perfect work, so that their peace about this situation would be complete, lacking nothing.

I pray that nothing would deter the music ministries of Canton and Melonie, but that they would have an even greater conviction of who You are, and how awesome You are.  I pray that these trials would cause them to serve You even more, love You even more, and live for You even more.

God, I pray that the respective families of Melonie and Canton would be strong even in the passing of the patriarchs of those families.  I pray that their respective memorial services and celebrations of life would be covered by Your grace and that souls would be won to Your Kingdom by the testimonies of the lives that Pastor Clarence Jones and Reverend Rufus Daniels lived.

I pray that their natural “absences” would be viewed as Heavenly “presences,” and that Your Church’s view of eternity, and the glory that surrounds it, would be Biblical and void of the finality that we often cast upon it.  Be glorified and allow us, Your children, to see how beautiful Your plan of redemption, and the promise of eternity with You, truly is.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Family, this is serious business.  Let’s lift up our brother, Canton, and our sister, Melonie, in prayer.

Post your prayers here and let’s get started on what we do!

The Prayer List (Reminder): Sheri Jones-Moffett

Hey family!  Don’t forget to keep the prayers coming for this week’s addition to The Prayer ListSheri Jones-Moffett.

Click here to read my initial write-up on Sheri, and to see the prayers that have gone up on her behalf so far…

Make sure you add yours today!  Cool?  Cool.

The Prayer List: Sheri Jones-Moffett

Okay, family… we’ve been praying for one industry person a week as part of the ongoing series, The Prayer List.  Click here to read the initial post about what we’re doing and why.

This week’s addition to The Prayer ListSheri Jones-Moffett.

In my opinion, Sheri is one of gospel’s treasures.  She rose to prominence for her work with Donald Lawrence & Tri-City (her lead vocal on “Encourage Yourself” has garnered the video nearly 3 million YouTube views to date!), and she’s done a couple of guest spots on some great projects, too.  Sheri launched her debut solo album, Renewed, to much acclaim last summer and, since then, has spreading the message of encouragement and redemption that God gave her.  Her soaring soprano is matched only by her sweet personality and kind spirit. Let’s left her up…

Sheri Jones-MoffettLord, thank you for the life of Sheri Jones-Moffett.  Thank you for the grace You’ve given her.  Thank You for the gift You placed in her.  Thank You for using her to touch so many lives, to encourage so many hearts and to inspire so many people.

God, I pray that You would encourage Sheri as she ministers.  Increase her opportunities to spread Your Gospel, Your truth, to more areas.  Where she is weak, give her strength.  Where she doubts, give her holy boldness.  Where she is uncertain, give her clarity of thought and mind.

Lord, I pray for Sheri as a wife and as a mother.  Give her the wisdom and courage it takes to do fulfill both roles well.  Please bless her with grace to mother Khady and Jaime in a way that will inspire them to desire a personal relationship with You.  And give her grace, Lord, to continue to be a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Dion.  Bless their union, their family and their household.

Father, I pray that You would continue to be the Lord of Sheri’s life.  I pray that every resource and bit of provision You’ve prepared for her and her family would be released, in Your timing, and for Your glory.  I pray that the plans You’ve had for her, since before she was born, would come to pass in Your timing and that, until then, You would cover her with patience and peace.  I pray that Your Will would be done in her life.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Okay, family– -please join me in sending up some words to God on behalf of our sister, Sheri Jones-Moffett!

Let’s go!!!

The Prayer List (Reminder): Hezekiah Walker

Just a quick reminder that we’re praying for Bishop Hezekiah Walker ALL WEEK LONG as part of GospelPundit.com’s ongoing series– The Prayer List.

Click here to read the initial prayer post for Hezekiah Walker, and to post some prayers of your own.  Let’s be steadfast and diligent in this, fam!  It’s going soooo well!

Love y’all.

The Prayer List: Hezekiah Walker

Guys, I’m really loving what God is doing through this new series, The Prayer List.  If you could see all of the support that it’s getting from artists, execs, and consumers– it’s a real blessing.  Click here for a refresher on what we’re doing each week.

If you already know the deal, we’re gonna keep it moving.  This week, we’re adding Bishop Hezekiah Walker to The Prayer List.

He needs no introduction, but to be clear– Bishop Walker’s always doing a lot in ministry, for which he could definitely use the prayers of his gospel community family.  The Grammy-winning artist/choir leader has been recording for decades now, but he’s also an effective and well-love pastor and bishop with a heart for his flock.  Let’s lift him up (any reference to his chart-topping hit single “Lift Him Up,” was purely coincidental… but cool).

God, thank You for the life and ministry of Bishop Hezekiah Walker. Thank You for the music ministry that You gave him decades ago, starting with the Love Fellowship Community Choir, and thank You for the pastoral spirit that You deposited as well.  Thank You for his accomplishments and all of the areas in which he’s been able to make Your name great, because of the platforms and opportunities You’ve given him.

Thank You, Lord, for the spirit of humility and kindness that You gave Hezekiah Walker. Thank You for all that You’ve created him to be– things we’ve experienced and things that have yet to be manifested on Earth.

Father, I pray that You would bless Hezekiah Walker– that You would cover him and protect him. As he ministers in song and in word, I ask that You guide his paths and use him for Your glory.  I pray that the successes he continues to experience would serve only to make Your Name great, and that he would continue to tell of Your greatness.

I pray that You would surround him with Godly men and women– people that will pray for him, hold him accountable, challenge and sharpen him.  I pray that Hezekiah Walker would be surrounded by Godly counsel and that any decisions he would need to make, as the leader of a choir and of churches, he would have clarity of thought and a direct line to hear You distinctly.

I pray against any attacks on Hezekiah Walker’s health. I pray for Your complete protection over him and his family.  I pray for Your continued grace, mercy and favor on his life.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Okay, you know what to do– post your prayers in the comment section here, and take Hezekiah Walker’s name with you to prayer throughout your week, as you remember.  And please do remember!  Thanks, guys.

The Prayer List (Reminder): Kim Burrell

Hey folks, just a quick reminder that we’re praying for Kim Burrell all week as part of our ongoing series, The Prayer List.

Click here to read the initial post for from Monday and to read some of the prayers that have already went up on her behalf.

And make sure you leave some of your own!  Cool?!  Cool.

The Prayer List: Kim Burrell

We’re now a month in on The Prayer List and I’m thrilled with the response and participation you guys are giving.  PLEASE continue to pray.  It’ll spur a deeper prayer life for you, while blessing someone else in this industry.  It’s really an awesome opportunity.  This week, we’re keepin’ this prayer chain rollin’ and I’m adding Kim Burrell to The Prayer List.

In recent months, Kim Burrell has drawn a lot of commentary, criticism and concern from the gospel community.  New professional endeavors and affiliations, along with her recent weight loss, have caused people to question her motives, her sincerity and her commitment to gospel and (in some cases) to God.

I’ll say this– whether we agree with her direction or not, whether we even fully grasp her direction or not, we are Christians… called to love one another, pray for one another, bear one another’s burdens. It’s our responsibility to undergird her—as a sister in Christ and, even more, as a recording artist with a visible public platform in gospel and beyond.  It’s ours to ensure that prayers go up for her strength, for a clear mind, for discernment, for protection. The responsibility is ours to stand with her and say “God, we know you’ve got specific plans for her life… we, too, want to see your plans come to pass.  Be glorified in her.”

That’s a prayer we ought to pray whether we’re Kim Burrell’s SUPER fans or we’re not so sure anymore.  So, let’s pray…

Kim BurrellFather, thank You for giving life to Kim Burrell.  Thank You for the gifts that You’ve given her.  As dazzled as I am by her, in the natural, I know that You also use her gift for great works, supernaturally, for the advancing of Your Kingdom.  I’m grateful to serve a God like You, who would use every single facet of our lives for Your glory.  I pray that You would reign in, and be glorified by, every area of Kim Burrell’s life.

God, thank You for Kim’s health.  Thank You for new opportunities in her life.  I pray that those opportunities would be for Your glory and that souls would come to know You as she ventures to new areas spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  I pray that those whom she trusts would continue to speak love and wisdom into her life, and that those who are not for her ultimate good are kept at bay.

I pray that You guard Kim Burrell and her son.  I pray that she would continue to be the Godly mother that You called her to be– to instill Your awesome values in him.  I pray that He would be guarded from the negative comments being haphazardly toss around about his mom in churches, on the internet, and elsewhere.  Give him a heart to continue to love his mother, to be obedient to her, and to believe in her.

I pray that Kim Burrell would continue to be sold out for you– that she would never allow her ministry to be watered down, compromised or overshadowed.  I pray that You would increase her desire for You, and place things and people in her life that would nurture that.  I pray that those of us on the outskirts would be content to simply pray.  I pray that we’ll continue to enjoy her and love her– not just her music, but her great personality and presence in this industry that we love so much.  I pray that she will never be disillusioned by those who would respond to her in anger or harshness… I pray that, with meekness and patience, she would understand our fallibility, like her own, and give grace, as we do the same.  I pray this in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Okay, who’s prayin’ with me???  Post your prayers in the comment section, family
