Urban Soul Cafe’s ‘Access Granted’ Returns To Stellar Award Weekend

You know it’s the place to be… it just is. Lol

Urban Soul Cafe returns to Stellar Awards weekend with its annual “Access Granted” event, featuring some of the greatest gospel artists in the game. It’s got three events over the course of the weekend!

During that time, Dorinda Clark Cole and the Rance Allen Group will be honored with Lifetime Achievement awards, while Kim Burrell is receiving an Artist of the Year award. Plus, you’ll get live appearances from just about every artist that comes to Nashville, including Marvin Sapp, Myron ButlerCanton Jones, Da’ T.R.U.T.H., Shirley Murdock and more.

Out & About: Follow Me For Nonstop Stellar Weekend Recaps

Okay, good news and bad news…

The bad news is that there won’t be any new posts on the site today.  The good news is that you can follow me on Twitter for up-to-the-minute tidbits and recaps of EVERYTHING I do during Stellar Weekend… and that’s gonna be quite a bit.

My wife and I already hit up two events and saw a bunch of folks last night.  Today, there’s the BMI Trailblazers luncheon, the Nominee luncheon, an advance listening suite for Lowell Pye, the Stellar Awards Pre-Show, the Bonnerfide Radio Launch Party… geeeez!

Then Saturday, there’s a Stellar Award Radio Station luncheon, the Notes On The Red fashion show, the Stellar Awards Red Carpet, the Stellar Awards taping, a Stellar Awards Post-Party and an afterparty hosted by Urban Soul Cafe.

I know I’m leaving stuff out cuz I can barely remember it all– suffice it to say, you don’t wanna miss a minute of it.  You’ll feel like you’re here in Nashville! LOL

See you on Twitter!

In The News: Urban Soul Cafe To Honor Dr. Bobby Jones

About a month ago, I blogged about the popular Urban Soul Cafe two-day event that is taking place during Stellar Awards weekend, ON January 14th and 16th.  Just wanted to throw out another reminder– if you’re going to be in the area, buy your tickets now!  They’re only $10 in advance.

The events (hosted by Lexi, Canton Jones, DeWayne Woods and Sheilah Belle) will feature performances from J Moss, Melinda Watts, Y’Anna Crawley, Myron Butler, Sean Simmonds, Lisa McClendon and many more.

Plus, it was recently announced that Dr. Bobby Jones will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

I think it’ll be a good time of great performances that you don’t wanna miss.  Anyone planning to go?  Anyone been to one before?

Gearing Up: Urban Soul Cafe's ACCESS GRANTED

If you’ve ever attended the Stellar Awards weekend or GMA week, you’ve probably noticed (and perhaps attended) the highly popular performance event, Urban Soul Cafe.

Quickly becoming one of the largest and most successful grassroots performance opps in the industry, the event features performances from major and indie artists at reasonable prices in an intimate setting.

This year, Urban Soul Cafe presents its Stellar Awards weekend event, “Access Granted,” and it promises to be just as good as past events, with performances expected from J Moss, Melinda Watts, 21:03, Adrianne Archie and many more urban gospel artists.

There will be two events– one on Thursday, January 14th and one following the Stellars taping on Saturday, January 16th– and will be hosted by DeWayne Woods, Canton Jones, Lexi and Sheilah Belle.

Video Pick: J.R. – "Not A Slave"

THIS dude is a great artist.  You’ve heard me mention J.R. before (click here to see my recap from the Urban Soul Cafe event during the Stellar Awards weekend).

This single, “Not A Slave,” from J.R.’s most recent album, Life By Stereo, has done very well in the industry, even earning a Dove Award nomination for Urban Recorded Song.

And here’s the video for it– good concept, full of energy and tastefully produced.  It’s simple enough, which is refreshing, but still grabs your attention.

Is It Just Me: Angel Chisholm

Is it just me, or is anybody else interested in a solo album from Angel Chisholm, daughter of Jacky Clark-Chisholm?  I kinda wanna hear what she’d do…

Watch this vid from that Urban Soul Cafe event I told y’all about earlier this year.  Angel’s singing a tribute song to her mother, Jacky.

Check 'Em Out: Trent Cory

Folks, a GREAT new artist that you need to check out– Trent Cory.  I think he’s gonna do very well in the industry.  He’s got a great voice, great songs, and an apparent heart for praise and worship.  We like!

His debut album, Freedom IS, features production by Aaron Lindsey and he’s already received ringing endorsements from Israel Houghton, Martha Munizzi and other notable folks in the industry.

And FYI:  If you’re gonna be in Nashville for GMA Week, he’ll be performing at the Beyond Potential conference TONIGHT (http://www.gobeyondpotential.com) and at the Urban Soul Cafe on Wednesday night (http://www.myspace.com/urbansoulcafe).

In the meantime, listen to his single, “We Praise Your Name”:

Also, make sure you check him out at his official website (http://www.trentcory.com) and on his MySpace page (www.myspace.com/trentcory).

What do you guys think?  You feelin’ it???
